absolutely. Having not won a league game. Think we should just wnjoy this one. First win on 14 years. Delighted for all involved

Fantastic for that group to get a reward for their efforts. Great to follow up the minor performance with a result like that. Onwards and upwards.

If they continue to show promise Davy will be eager to make his mark on the football side of things after he's booted from the hurling gig

    Great interview

So after today Waterford have a better chance of a Liam/Sam double than Limerick, Tipp or Kilkenny. :)

Not too long ago there were a few big time charlies talking about cutting football on here. Where are they now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭upthedeise16

I believe they are called, “small pricks “, as Caoimhin Walsh said 👌⚪️🔵 Great day for Waterford GAA

First win over Tipp since 1988 i think. Congrats Waterford. A lot of good people have kept the Waterford football show on the road over the years. They reaped their rewards for that today.

well done to the footballers today. You couldn’t not be delighted for them. Hope today makes all those sacrifices they make worth it and hope they enjoy their moment in the spotlight. Nice to have a bit of positivity in Waterford GAA for a change

don’t forget the minors got ambushed during the week by a last minute goal v Clare…..will be interesting to see if then can get a win over limerick or tipp in the next couple of weeks.

Waterford arent actually bad at football as some might think. Its just the standard is so high at intercounty now(most set ups are professional in all but name) you would need nearly all your resources going into it just to be anyway successful. If a so called weaker hurling county had 50 dual clubs then they would be competing for All Irelands..anyway fair play to the footballers

SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH You are not allowed talk about the dream team like that. it's plain obvious there is no one in the current underage setup or outside of that who are Waterford born or bred good enough for senior intercounty management. Derek McGrath was and probably still the only one internally within the county that could take that step up again either with Waterford or another county. DOS knows his limitations hence why he never wanted to move away from BG. 3 times (maybe 4) the job has become available during BG tenure yet never once applied. that tells it's own story.

they will be absolutely hammered by Clare. it's papering over the cracks stuff yesterday playing the worst Tipp team of all time. I watch a good bit of the game and it was absolutely horrendous stuff.

Aren't you the same lad who posts nonsense like this on the Waterford FC forum aswell?? You don't half crave attention

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭upthedeise16

Don’t let a great win for your county get in the way of your battering of football anyway, fair play for your consistency and while everyone else is delighted for the players, management and all involved who got the win after months of hard work, you manage to stay pessimistic and bitter, well done 👏

Well done Waterford, it can't be easy for lads slogging away year in, year out with little enough reward

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭914

You can only beat what is in front of you.

Talks of it being a bad Tipp team. Waterford still had the mental challenge in getting a Munster championship win.

Winless in the league. Six years since a win in Munster.

Well done to the footballers, amazing down people can find the negative in something positive.

That's that particular posters shtick on this forum. And I can guarantee you he saw literally none of the game either. He's a serial spoofer who's best ignored.

  • Registered Users Posts: 253 ✭✭dk1982

Wasnt it 14 years since a win in Munster? 2010 I think?

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,505 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Yep. Six years since a championship (qualifier) win

Whats seldom is wonderful for Waterford football.

Despite all the obstacles put in footballs way every year what a special day yesterday was.

First half was horrendous but somehow their confidence grew in the second half,to get those goals and do it on merit with an actual victory not just a moral one.

So pleased for the panel and management.

Huge goodwill in the national media for the footballers.Good news story for Waterford Gaa.

There is no holidays to Portugal or sponsored cars for the footballers etc they do it for the love of the Waterford Jersey.

I believe the hurlers played Wexford in a behind closed door game yesterday - anyone hear a result of that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 875 ✭✭✭DiscoStew

Tbf our hurlers don’t even get sponsored cars.

We must be one of the worst counties in the country for sourcing these kind of deals for players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 296 ✭✭waterfordgirl

There would be plenty of offers if they were performing and winning. Plenty of them had sponsored cars a few short years ago

Lets not forget the team as a whole was sponsorless for the first few games of the league.

I heard second or even third hand that it was three periods of 30 mins where both sides gave game time to a lot of players. For what it's worth Waterford won overall by a few points
