Looks like Thurles and PUC are out for the Limerick Game. There's a fire inspection issue linked to terracing at GAA stadiums. The only place available is Ennis which has had its capacity rechecked last month. It looks increasingly likely that Waterford v Limerick will be on in Ennis. Hard to swallow but the County Board have already agreed.

Hard luck to de la Salle today heartbreaking way to lose a game. By all accounts jack twomey featured prominently again. Definitely looks like one for the future

Killarney would be a better shout than Ennis

May have been mentioned already but refunds are available for season tickets through Croke Park, should anyone feel aggrieved enough over losing our home games to request it. Refund must be sought before the first league game.

Why can't they fix the 'terrace issues' in the next few months so they can be ready too use for championship ??

Its not like they'll be needed for the league games

LoL. We will play on the moon if needs be. If we're good enough we'll win. Too many white feathers floating about re venues. Throw in the sliothar and let the fun begin....Com-on the Deise ....

I'm guessing if the Limerick game is in Ennis then it will be moved too Sat 22nd April because Clare host Tipperary there on the 23rd April

I was only having a laugh. Apologise for any offence. What's shocking is that many of ye believed it.

Jesus lads your way to easy set off 🤦‍♂️

De La Salle were two points up at the end of normal time but conceded 2-1 in added time. Jack Twomey was the star of the show and nearly did a "Reuben Halloran" on it with a haul of 13 points (three from play). A really promising prospect. All the big prospects for Waterford at the moment are forwards. Great to see (not that we are short of them at the moment).

It's no worse than Walsh Park to be fair. They should have knocked Fraher Field and turned the pitch 90 degrees. There would have been plenty of room for two decent sized stands and flood lights are allowed.

And to be fair to Twomey and a few of the other DLS lads they played the under 20 county final on Sunday so it's been a punishing few weeks for them.

    Is Jack related to Dean?

  • Registered Users Posts: 134 ✭✭Pudz2180

according to the article above dean is his brother.

Dermot Dooley not best pleased with county board either

With the likes of Twomey and Halloran coming through DLS might at least have a team that could challenge Ballygunner in next couple of years

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,987 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Definitely has potential when you add the U20 win. Ballygunner still have so many resources and it's up too the rest to catch up

  • Registered Users Posts: 46 HelloHello1234

Definitely could. Although about 10 years ago they won 3 u21s in a row and a few minors and they were tipped to go on and do what ballygunner eventually did. I'd be interested to see how many of them successful u21 and minor team player are still involved at senior level.

Personally I'd rate Conor Keane ahead of Toomey, though they are different types of players. Daniel Lalor is another to keep an eye on from DLS.

Halloran was a massive loss to the county under 20 team last year. He had been brought into the senior panel and got injured in one of if not his first session with them and missed the entire campaign. You'd just be hoping his workload gets managed as he was playing under 20 with DLS in the last few weeks, obviously he's in with Waterford and he's part of the WIT Fitz team.

    Scrappy game but playing well

    2 man full forward line

Braindead hurling from Waterford and as usual a festival of fumbling and mistakes

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,987 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Can we ever win a game up there

Good workout with some nice scores but a lot of silly handling mistakes and soft defending that cost us

Think we're in the final now on scoring difference. Suppose its an extra game

Think Tipp have topped the group.

People will write this off as an early season workout but it was as is usual another Waterford hurling display of fumbling easy possession and handing up easy possession to the opposition.

After his first game in charge of Waterford Liam Cahill pointed to the high number of handling mistakes Waterford make, and unnecessary errors, and things improved in this area because Mikey Bevins spent a huge amount of time drilling the players about it. On todays evidence our Achilles heal is back worse than ever. In the 2nd half, it was 29 minutes before a Clare player dropped a ball- an occurrence that only happened twice in the half as opposed to happening constantly to Waterford players. In one 5-minute period, a Waterford player failed to catch or dropped the ball 11 times. That combined with our idiotic setup and poor shot selection led to a 9 point turnaround.

Clare had to do nothing more than hit long direct balls and our backs we in all sorts of trouble, conversely when our half backs looked up they had literally no one to pass it to upfront so had to resort to 5 side passes in the middle of the field almost guaranteeing loss of possession. Short passing for the sake of it will win you nothing. Davy despite having years of experience as a coach displaying yet again that his default tactic is to 'bring everyone back' Another year of failure ahead.
