Claire Byrne; giving out about what UK football teams charge for kits and tickets.

Also Claire Byrne; gleeefully giving airtime to her mates to flog their make up, skin care and haircuts that cost people just as much and more.

I'd say there is going to be a massive tsunami of cancer morbidity and mortality coming down the tracks.

Of course, just a report, no difficult questioning required of Claire.

Why do that when she can small talk about a graffiti artist?

There's no doubting the importance of US multinationals, I just get a sense we get these all to regular announcements Billions of taxable profits being shipped out of the country, it seems to undermine the spirit of fairness and indeed tax policy, there's a sense of sneakyness going on which ultimately feeds those who resent US multinationals, I certainly don't but admit to being annoyed at stories such as Googles last week, particularly when the country on its knees due to the pandemic.

Dee, all that would be laudable if every other countryadopted the same, the exact same strategy.

They don’t. The world of commerce is not an equal competition, countries have different advantages, countries have disadvantages.

You make the most of your advantage within the parameters ,and this business of groaning at the way we operate kind of gives an ‘I’m all right Jack’ attitude and bit of the bleeding heart smoked salmon socialist bang off things.

Not personal here now , speaking generally.

Brian O'Connell is a good reporter but that segment definitely needed some political questioning.

We are very good at pressing the brakes and cordoning-off hospitals. Would have thought a similarly drastic emergency procedure is required in getting acute services/ screening up and running again. I'm sure they have a plan for that.

Who produces this programme? I don't think credits are given at the end.

Now a meaningless piece about Banksy who CB and expert keep referring to as he - this despite the fact that nobody knows who he is - male/female/vegetable. Banksy may not even be a single entity. Space filling tripe.

"I'm hoping it gets 60 votes" says Marian McKeon. She's a journalist, why is she advocating for one side, her job is to report on how other people vote. These people have lost the run of themselves and think that their opinions matter.

I was listening to the show.

    FFS

Compleletly one sided. All the sage superlative comments from all parties.

    Switched off now.

Is she a journalist? I get the impression she just listens to CNN and other American media and parrots back whatever they said.

I tried CB again today but switched off fairly early on as the show was sucking the life out of me.

They're all mad to get their opinions in on this am dither US current affair news. Wait til the investigation into the Garda shooting of George Nkencho and they'll be a lot slower to give their opinion on that I have no doubt.

Important point. Journalists more than happy to make comments on American matters and then say very little about our own contentious issues.

Either they don't care about our own matters or else they don't apply the same rules to ourselves in relation to race and other culture issues.

Some Irish journalists only tweet about American stories.

Thomas Byrne, there are no words ,kite flying followed by kite crashing.....did anyone make sense of that interview.

    "I can't speculate " , next sentence 'speculating'

She is an US correspondent so unsurprisingly enough most of her posts and tweets will be American news and issues.

After a nutritional slot we get back to the hot topic of online clothes that don't fit right.

You'd genuinely wonder if Dee Forbes's listens to RTÉ Radio 1 during the day if this sort of current affairs is acceptable.

The team have obviously decided that the programme isn't sufficiently catering for women's issues, so have gone about correcting that in the most condescending way possible. Sure lookit, tell them they're overweight, or instruct how to make home-made floor cleaner again. Jesus Christ.

I think if I were a woman, working from home, I'd find this very aggravating. We are only a few episodes away from telling women how to get that stain out of the carpet before he notices. This is like something resurrected from the 1950s.

They're effectively trying to make the programme into "Women's Hour", which is on on BBC Radio 4 at the same time.

Thing is, "Women's Hour" is a far more interesting programme - and I say that as a man!

Yes, that’s what’s it turning into.

Looks to me that instead of going with the right person (Sarah Mc imo) to take over their flagship CA programme, they have tailored it to suit Claire, to the detriment of the show.

Jesus, what sort of dirt does Kelly have on the RTE crew?

It's a passive takeover under their very noses.

That's an interesting take, and I think, a correct one.

You only have to listen to the show when someone else is presenting, for proof of what you're saying.

Fans of previous incarnations of this slot, Pat & Sean, were surprised when Sarah Mc, who was doing an excellent job, wasn't given the gig full time.

But Sarah, you see, is not in the Noel Kelly stable, whereas Claire is.

Yeah, I'm well aware that Sarah is seemingly not in the Kelly camp and it also seems she has much higher principles than to join them. She's a smart cookie though and I'll presume she knows the internal politics and the way to work the system way more than me.

I'll caveat that by saying that the NK wall of fame is possibly not as transparent as it seems - ie D'Arcy is not there, but I'd put money on it.

No matter what way you look at it, Ballymount is doing Donnybrook (and by extension the licence fee payers) sideways, without lube.
