    How so? Genuinely.

I’d say it’s more to do with apathy from the government about having to chase someone through the courts for giving a wrong address etc that the number of prosecutions is basically zero on it.

But if they wanted to go all the way on someone not filling it in/giving false info, I’d say the wording would allow them to do so.
I mean give the info correctly but after that they can't do anything. No laws on quarantine. It's basically useless.

I've been to UK and Portugal recently so filled out two PL forms. Didn't get a call for either.

    Who would you vote for?

I am a FG voter usually & always thought they did a good job at managing our economic finances, they have been quite pragmatic when in Government previously...however they now seem to think money grows on trees & Paschal is nowhere to be seen during one of the biggest financial crisis to hit Ireland in recent years.
At the moment I would vote for anyone with a back bone that is willing to take a stand & control of this situation and sideline NPHET to its rightful role of advisory body, any party that would protect our civil rights. It would depend on what policies they were offering.

And every decision should be published and justified precisely on the data- I’ve long since tired of vague crap from Nphet and Co like “to prevent people gathering”- show me the exact evidence that that is what is spreading the virus and why this decision will prevent cases.

Of course, but that assumes transparency, communication and trust. 3 things that this government is lacking.

    So the National Party then?

    What a suprise that is.

I’m FG too and Donohoe is absolutely dreadful. I genuinely believe we are now headed for big trouble economically

I believe the Taoiseach has just made this up. This government is in a sorry state.

Micheal's "Man with 2 pints" moment?

But let them have cake I suppose?

    What “facilities” do they need?

I worked in construction for years as a student, mostly on rural builds miles form anywhere. Brought a pack lunch and a flask of hot water and bottle of milk for tea as did everyone else. Sat on a few blocks or in the cement hut to eat. If I wanted to go to town I got a sandwich and ate in the car.

Nothing stopping them doing the same.

Why would people clearly out on the streets (ie not locked up at home “safely” watching rte on loop) be begging for restrictions to prevent them doing that? Micheal is not the brightest Taoiseach we’ve ever had is he?

Yep, fair enough. As long as you complete it, you can answer any subsequent phonecall from the tracers and tell them you’re at a restaurant not ‘restricting your movements’ and there’s nothing they or the government can do.

Just wow. So you think it’s all fine and dandy for builders to slob around in the rain just because you supposedly did it at one stage. Evidently not much empathy for other human beings was learned in the process. Sure why not let them have pots of gruel As well

You could've just said that you have no idea rather than type all of that. I thought that when you were calling for an election you would've had at least some clue as to who you'd vote for.

The next 2 weeks are critical.

Much more critical than the last 2, and the previous 2, and the 2 before that

Why would they have to sit in the rain?

They can sit in the building they are building, or in one of the multiple huts/storage containers on sites or sit in their car/van etc. These are normal things for builders to do everyday with takeaway sandwiches or packed lunches.

Why would it be made up? There is huge appetite for restrictions and stopping the virus spread by the majority of decent people. The vocal minority who have no respect for the rules and covid deniers etc are kidding themselves into thinking they are in the majority.

The entire rest of the county definitely want Dublin locked down that’s for sure, anyone I’ve spoken to about it today the first things said by them all was “it’s about time” mostly follows by “it should be stricter though”.

And yet now all they’ve done is close Dublin eateries etc but allow (and rightly so) people travel from Palmerstown to Naas.

Smoke and mirrors to keep the perpetually afraid happy.

As a poster above rightfully highlighted, ‘the next 2 weeks are critical. Like the last 2. And the 2 before that......’

This bullshyt that people are asking/commending him on whatever it is he wants to do is a ploy of his, a stupid story that he forget he told before like a doddering grandad. He was at the very same rubbish about opening up schools, saying that loads of teachers were contacting him wanting the schools opened. Utter and total fabrication. And I say that as a teacher who knows a lot of other teachers.

So whether he's relaxing restrictions by sending everyone back to school or tightening them by closing all the restaurants, his line is that droves of people are clapping him on the back. Idiot  but that's what's in charge of our country.

The only people with an appetite for extra restrictions are public sector employees and retired folk.

Anyone outside that group of citizens that still has a hunger for restrictions has a gross lack of insight towards what's coming down the track.

I’m neither public sector nor retired and I am massively in favour of restrictions, I’d have no issue with another country wide lockdown as we had in March to June.

Restrictions till when? How much damage are you prepared to allow so you feel safe, although I find your new found concern for your health amusing considering your unhealthy relationship with alcohol based on your previous posting history.

I actually believe people will keep doing what they are doing now. People don't trust HSE or government anymore.

Wash your hands, keep your distancing, wear the mask in shops and things will be ok.

    This. Very much this.

They bottled it. Guess all the leaks were as bad as we feared.

Dublin city centre is gonna be a deserted wasteland yet gain for the next few weeks.

Seriously, I haven't been this dismayed towards an Irish Govt since the dying days of Brian Cowen's stint as Taoiseach. This is economic vandalism... :(

    Absolute BS

There are any that have followed the rules that think this is BS and are getting less and less respect for this nonsense

Out of interest, what’s the legal basis for pub & restaurant closures? Masks/PLF completion are mandated in law for the general public, but everything else is totally advisory. Has legislation actually been passed regarding the various rules businesses face?
