But it is not the deaths this month that is important it is the deaths that are to come.

What exactly do you think they should do about a growing trend?

Ireland had this type of unemployment for years on end in the past, it isn't ideal but neither is it the end of society. This episode will be much shorter in duration.

End of society? Oh ffs the hyperbolic bs is getting beyond stupid at this stage.

The capital city is not in "lockdown", although measures will have been increased. Most employment is continuing and of course Dublin isn't the whole country.

Whether it ends up as 2% or 2.5% doesn't change the argument, although it might have adverse effects on certain sectors.

If you think our GDP will contract by 2% - 2.5%, I have some magic beans you may want to browse. They are shiny.

Read it again. He said it's not the end of society.

It's an attempt at condescension used by several here to dismiss anything said by those they disagree with. As I said his entire post is hyperbolic bs.

I wonder what kind of models NPHET are using. I hope they applied the actual scientific evidence that has come through this past few months. For example France now have 2x as many cases per day as in the worst day in March/April, yet the death rate is 1/20 of what it used to be. Surely someone has to sit down and look into why that is before applying any models into the analysis and decision making.

”Where’s the revolution? Come on, people you’re letting me down!”

And every decision should be published and justified precisely on the data- I’ve long since tired of vague crap from Nphet and Co like “to prevent people gathering”- show me the exact evidence that that is what is spreading the virus and why this decision will prevent cases.

What’s the actual point of this “big announcement” that mehole is making today?

It’s already been announced by the propaganda,, sorry , I meant minions... sorry .. media (3rd time lucky) since last night.

It’s such a pile of BS this public rubber stamping of the ruination of our hospitality industry and all the other industries and jobs connected to it.

Good cop (Leo) with bad cop (MM) with good ole Gru lookalike beside them (Donnelly) all lined up at their podium boxes like they’re at a church sermon.
Don’t even need to watch it at 6pm. It’s too horrific tbh.

I think Leo knows damn well the balls MM and FF are making of this and is letting him destroy his own political career and maybe even FF as we know it!
Instead of stepping in, he’s ignoring the public and putting FG and his role as leader first

Returning the favour to MM who sat by for years and weasled his way in.

Level 3 for Dublin for 3 weeks from midnight

    Pubs/restaurants closed for indoor dining

    Normal pubs remain closed

Stay in Dublin unless essential. Stay out of Dublin for the same reasons. Advice, not required though

Other measures as already flagged I think

Is it advice or mandatory the no travel out of Dublin different places seem to contradict each other?

“Anyone with significant presence on social media has a responsibility to amplify this message”.

No, Martin, they don’t, this is not a dictatorship.

“This is killing young people too”.

    No, Martin, it’s really not.

    “This virus is still deadly”

It’s not, Martin. We went nearly three weeks without a single death recently.

The sh1tshow rolls on for another 3 weeks..

Can people outside Dublin travel into Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,489 ✭✭✭dalyboy

It’s level 4 no less for Dublin in the guise of level 3.

Pubs & restaurants, according to the level chart , has pubs and restaurants opened including indoor.

It’s a complete mockery of the 1-5 level clown plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 687 ✭✭✭Dampsquid

Restriction starts tonight, unless you have a wedding planned this weekend.

Why are people still planning weddings in these times?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 979 ✭✭✭Thierry12

Why are gyms still open and restaurants closed, makes no sense

The 5 level plan is a joke, it was supposed to give certainty to the public of what the restrictions would be, but that's been throw out the window twice in 4 days for level 2 and now level 3.

Yes. It’s ADVISORY not mandated. Mehole neglectfully left that info out of his hyperbolic speech though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭haskellgeek

finding out if it's mandatory or not is a joke, it is advised so not mandatory but not all new sites agree with this, mixed messages do not help

I think the Ryanair court case on Tuesday shows up the legalities in the public’s favour in all aspects of this entire sh1t show.

We are very close to a “emperor has no clothes” moment of enlightenment in Ireland.

The crazy part is they would've suspected that this was coming for Dublin while they were still working on the plan so why did they announce the plan and then throw it in the bin 3 days later?

So, Dublin shut down for at least 6 weeks on Level 4 (minus one or two things), no way they'll lift in 3 weeks.

No data to back up any of this other than "fears" and "grave concerns".

Bleak times ahead for us living here and those trying to keep their business afloat. I don't know how any business can recover after this. Why take out one of these loans when the government can just close your business down for no good reason and most importantly don't have to give any.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

The only actually enforceable one from the perspective of the general public is the mask regulations I think.

Need rid of that one too. It's supposed to expire on October 5th I read here somewhere but no doubt it'll be extended

RTE stating that travel is banned, so as clear as mud again.

Yeah , the mask thing in shops is a gripe of mine but I’ll make do to keep the peace on that one. But defo , you are correct , it’s about the only rule that you can get an actual legal penalty on.

This latest travel “ban” is a toothless chihuahua rule though.

"Micheál Martin said those living in Dublin are ''advised to stay within the county unless to travel for work, education, and other essential purposes''."

Travel was never banned, as the government has been forced to admit in the Ryanair court case.

There is very good reasons for this, Dublin should have been locked down last week never mind today. The virus is running wild.
