Red flag. They did well to get that far into the session!

    Well done George Russell!

Massive disappointment for Perez... must have very little downforce on car. Well done mr. Russell.

    Russell into Q2, did well.

Perez was disappointing, car has looked good all weekend. At least Stroll managed to get through so still hope for something from the weekend.

Nice job by Russell. The Williams car is better set up than Racing point for wet weather.

Hopefully the rain comes down heavier when Merc haven't got a hot lap in.

Very disappointing for Perez. That car hates the wet.

I know its not relevant now cause of the wet conditions

But in dry conditions why is it Q2 tyres are the ones used by the top 10 when they qualify? Why not Q3?

The top 10 get a qualifying only extra set for Q3 so they can go flat out. That set is given back at the end of the session.

Amazing to the difference on that onboard shot in Stroll's driving style from wet to dry. Nice and smooth with the steering input, in normal conditions he's always busy sawing at the wheel

Is that the only reason? So they will go flat out in Q3?

It seems a bit punishing, being 11 or 12 on the grid with free choice and new tyres is much better than 9 or 10 with old tyres

    Poor Ferrari, that was desperate!

Leclerc out. That Ferrari is terrible.

The Ferraris couldn't go any faster than the Williams
    Dear God....

Russell delighted with the efforts there. Beat a good few drivers and teams.

Russell P12, happy for him with a good showing. He doesn't have many chances to shine in that car.

What odds would you have got yesterday on a Williams out qualifying both Racing points? Fantastic stuff from Russell.

Less than a tenth between Russell and Q3. Great effort. Good to see the Williams being competitive at least.

Stroll should have booted out Vettel if he hadn't slipped at the last corner.

Ferrari could not improve while around them they could.

Another session where Russell builds up his reputation.

Probably the most talented of the drivers from his intake but was tossed into a car so far behind the rest. Put in rain where driver ability (and a bit of luck) has more effect and he did some job.

When’s the last time Williams qualified as high up as P12?

Can’t wait to see Russell in a competitive car.

Super lap there by Hamilton, all sectors purple

Edit... And he just beat it by going all purple in all sectors again.

    Disaster for Max

That lap from Hamilton is absolutely stunning. 1.2 seconds clear

I’m not a Hamilton fan but I have to say his performance in qualifying was outstanding.

Wouldn't have made a difference. Still fantastic driving from Max but Hamilton the class of the field in the rain yet again. Lights out going to be fun tomorrow. :)

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he’s in the Merc next season. There’s no way he settles for another season in a dog of a car unless something else is coming down the line.

Hopefully Lewis will win tomorrow. Would like to see Ocon finish in the top three too.
