It is great to get another race in Austria this weekend, and this time maybe the bigger teams will get things right (hopefully Red Bull).

We don't think Ferrari will be at the races this season, so our hopes are laid on Red Bull and perhaps Pinkish Merc causing an upset to Mercedes.

I have to say, maybe McLaren can capitalise again if we have another high attrition race!!

Vettel will be looking for a trouble free weekend. I have a feeling that if he gets into silly tangles like the one with Sainz last weekend, himself and Ferrari might split before the season is over.

Well I started off last week rooting for Riccardo, Ocon and Albon and look how that turned out. This week, I ain’t saying nuttin!

Intrigued to see if anything changes in this do over. What’s the weather forecast say?

Current forecast is for heavy rain on Saturday so that might make qualifying interesting.

Cant believe this race isnt titled "Austria Grand Prix 2, Covid boogaloo"

Serriously hoping Mclaren Continue on their upward Trajectory,

I Also Wonder what odds I'd get for Vettle just binning it into a wall as a **** you to Ferarri

Merc march off into the distance, then Max, then Albon, Norris, Perez, Saintz fighting it out with the Ferraris (if their upgrades work).

Ferrari upgrades not til race after, not this weekend. It's another weekend of struggles, but no aero upgrades will make up for that 0.7s they are losing on straights. Check Gio's onboard for the first few laps of the race. They are nowhere (alongside Haas) too down the straights.

I read somewhere that they were going to bring the upgrades forward to this weekend.

Are we still look at Rain for some part of this weekend ? either during Qualifing or Race . I would be happy for either or both . At least it could throw in some mix ups .

Ferrari bringing a new floor and upgraded front wing for this weekend according to the rumours on Twitter, with additional upgrades for Hungary the week after. If the engine is a dog though, no amount of aero updates will make a meaningful difference.

Agreed. This years Ferrari is possibly the worst one since 1996 going by what I’ve seen so far.

The 1996 car won 3 races, a bit early to make that assumption. They were winless in 91/92/93, 2009,2014. Maybe it can be compared to any of those once the season is over, the 2014 car finished 2nd in Hungary with Alonso, LeClerc matched that in the first race, albeit with a lot of luck.

Didn't Kimi win in Spa in 2009, albeit it was a pig of a car most of the time.

I’m watching practice. Latifi thinks his engine just “went” pulled up on side of track.

Session stopped whilst the crane tries to get it over the barrier.

Russell had to get a new engine after his failed last week. Not a good look for Williams or the Merc engine.

Given Stroll's issue last week there does seem to be a fundamental flaw with this years Mercedes engine. Didn't Hamiltons fail completely during one of his pre-season tests? Its powerful but unreliable.

Apparently the race director has said teams should prepare for a possible Sunday quali. Theres heavy rain and thunderstorms predicted tomorrow so session may not go ahead.

Yeah, continuing with the "what did go wrong for Ferrari" from the Austrian GP thread, all the Ferrari-engined teams are in trouble. I was quite shocked to see the speed traps data from last week - Ferrari lost anywhere between 10 and 15 km/h in all of them.

Alfa and Haas are also in trouble, although proportionally less than Ferrari - looks like in Maranello they developed a super-high downforce chassis with the assumption that the sheer power from the engine would take care of the straight line speed, only to find themselves effed up when said advantage went out of the window.

Like everyone, I'd be curious to know what the "trick" actually was - and if Ferrari's motorists could have been smarted, Mercedes-like, into going to the FIA beforehand with the "hey guys, we're developing this thing that kinda breaks the rules but can be twisted around them, it's all right, isn't it?".

Did i hear during the race last week that one of the DRS zones are being removed for this race?

Would affect lap times compared to last week a small bit, i wonder is there any other ways to make the races different
