Absolutely is, and may be the reason why people are angry.

But, I've not much time for it. People are far better off now, even those on social welfare - compare them to previous generations.

The problem is that they have higher expectations. That may lead to anger.

Yeah they could go live 'off the grid' or something like that. But if your expectation is to be a normal member of society, then it's not an unreasonable expectation.

There really is no point expecting people to want to live a lifestyle from 50 years ago

If you'd gone with 'ok boomer', it might have made sense. How does 'Thanks Karen' work in this context at all?

No, but they're comparing themselves to the Jones that get a loan out to buy a low powered BMW or to go on two holidays a year.

There's so much credit and lifestyle advertising that the janitor thinks he deserves to be living the life of Riley.

Why are there so many angry men on the Internet, and what are they so angry about?

I visited Twitter this morning and was struck, once again, about how angry and hostile a site it is. A case in point is this harmless retweet by Simon Harris.

    https://twitter.com/officialgaa/status/1268165151783563264

You'd also see it here. Men lashing out at RTÉ presenters, female comedians, Greta Thunberg, social media influencers, poor people, rich people etc etc.

Where is all this anger coming from? Are they not getting the ride or something? Or is the internet itself making them angry?
    "not getting the ride"
It always comes back to the ride

And even the SW housing now is better than the starter house purchased back in the day. Actually, I'd say most janitors were in SW housing back in the day. What house was a janitor buying outright back in the day?

I don't know what house they were buying. Ask bill o reily. But even if they wee buying government built starter homes, they don't really exist anymore. They were built by previous generations and sold off in the 80s and not replaced.

Some previous generations were very forward thinking and selfless, such as as the ones who built all the council houses. Some generations were very selfish and short sighted, such as the ones who sold off the council houses and didn't want to fund the building of new ones. They took advantage of the previous generation's generosity but didn't want to do the same for any future generations. It was real "pull the ledder up, Jack" stuff.

I'm pretty sure the cleaners in today's market aren't buying houses of any description

That is not true either it is just your own biases simple as.
But if there were not such biases and opinions boards.ie would not function. Lots of mods would be aimlessly trying to fill thier day. As there would be no need for mods because everyone will be agreeing with each other and it would be a mere echo chamber.

I was comenting on the replies to the tweet. All negative or abusive towards the minister.

Even when it wasn't the ride, I knew it was the ride.

Who are comparing themselves to the Jones? The cleaners who are buying houses? I thought we agreed that cleaners can't buy houses anymore.

There was a study done on men who troll people on a particular video game, I’ll try and find it.

It found that as women and minorities have gained more of a foothold in the business and political worlds, white men of average intelligence and ability feel displaced. In previous generations, even average white guys could expect respectable jobs and a reasonable living but as the competition has increased that hasn’t necessarily been the case.

So they vent their ire online.

And of course, there are women who do this too, but the study related specifically to men I think.

That’s very interesting. I do think stupid people tend to be angrier as well. Their stupidity manifests itself as anger as a sort of coping mechanism.

There's angry people everywhere, not just on the internet. Best stay away from humans, if you don't want to deal with angry people.

It is not that exactly, its lack of ability to manage and express emotions in a positive way which may or may not be related to all sorts of abilities they lack.

" To participate is to lose "

A meaty article on the subject, but worth sticking with until the end.

That's horseshít of the highest order. The vast majority of people can play videogames without becoming reactionary virgin dickheads.

You don't so much become a virgin as stay a virgin.
Unless there's a time period after which you revert to virgin status if you don't keep current. I gather you replace all the cells in your body in a decade or so, but that excludes neurons. Is virgin status a state of mind or is it bodily? A few years away from the bedroom and it's an entirely new mickey.

Eh, you can stay a virgin but become a reactionary dickhead, does that help? And every few years you're a new reactionary dickhead but still a virgin. Kind of like Trigger's broom, I guess...

It's absolutely true 100% of the time that the term toxic masculinity is used mostly by people who don't believe in it.

Except that it isn't. It's not used as often as some people may claim but I have heard it used multiple in real life.

It's become one of those phrases, like hipster and incel, that people just use whenever, despite the fact that it doesn't make sense in context.

You are a sexist misogynist OP.

Women are allowed to be angry too...

Compare the number of times you've heard it used in earnest, to the number of times you've heard it used as the poster I quoted. In my life I don't know anyone who uses that term, or that sentiment, in earnest.

I've already said that it's not used as much as some people claim. However, it does get used in a sincere manner by a minority of people.

Isn't it at least interesting that the term is used so much more often by people who hate it's use? That they go on about it being shoved in their faces even though they use it more way more than than anyone saying it in earnest.

    I think it's fascinating. I suppose it's a kind of masochism.

Yeah, some just like to find reasons to complain or be outraged.
