Not really. The stats are nothing to crow about. We sit in the top ten countries per capita worst affected. The mismanagement of the exit from lockdown is farcical also. Once the dust settles the shine will fade, it’s happening already

Way too fücking apprehensive and slow getting the country into lockdown and acting too fast to get us out of it and relaxing / getting rid of restrictions..

Typical, especially FG, dictated to by the money men, big business, not by the wellbeing and health of those whom they have been elected by to serve. NEVER let it be forgotten.

I don’t bother replying to deluded stupid posts. Fingers crossed you should be good to go.

On a whatsapp group only 1 message of a checkpoint in my area today. Usually there would be a good few by this time. Seems to be a drop alright.

You will never see a guard standing out in the rain, or even mild drizzle for that matter. As for the bat flu checkpoints they were only going through the motions for the last few weeks,

I just worry about "isolation rooms".

are people going to be put there? People suspected of being sick? held against their will?

Or is this for your every day casual self isolation room if youd like in brown thomas?

The Tourism Recovery Taskforce set up by government has submitted its 8 point list to cabinet today.
The Cabinet is being asked to consider:

A one-metre social-distancing rule workable for pubs, hotels and restaurants

Delayed reopening of schools to August 31 to extend the domestic tourist season

Cut VAT rates for the general hospitality sector

Accelerate Phase 4 recreational reopenings to Phase 3, or June 29, under the lockdown easing plan - allowing hotels and accommodation to open earlier

Accelerate Phase 5 social re-openings to Phase 4, or July 20, allowing pubs to reopen a month earlier

Allow people to travel for domestic holidays from June 29

Allow schools the option of taking the week-long October mid-term break during one of two weeks (rather than just one week)

Remove the two-week self-isolation requirement for travellers from countries deemed 'safe' due to low virus outbreak rates

Basically pro economic common sense suggestions.

Watch all of them get rejected by Tony cause for concern Holohan.

No different to any other store really, dunnes have had sceens at the tills in the homeware and clothes sections for weeks, bar queueing at the tills and not being able to try clothes on, the store itself has been a free for all.

Its for staff, if a staff member raises concerns about feeling symptoms they will go there and be sent home

There is no gun to your head to leave your house. Are you jealous that others have been given the go ahead to do something you are too chicken sh1t to do? Are you scared to look a day’s work in the eye because getting paid €350 per week to drink beer was oh so good? Here’s some advice. Lock yourself in a wardrobe and stay the fck in there until 2037. There won’t be a vaccine by then but I PROMISE you won’t pick up this flu. Enjoy.

My address on my licence could be 1 Main St, Dublin.

My address when I registered my car could be 1 Main St, Cork.

I currently live at 1 Main St, Galway.

There is no obligation to update my licence address with NDLS. There is no obligation to update my vehicle details with Shannon.

Guards don't have it easy with roadside checks.

Where is your road tax sent to?

Point is for the majority it would be easy to identify potential cars in an unauthorised area without having to stop everyone. Some would be missed, and some would be confirmed ok when checked.

My opinion though is there should be no restrictions on travel within Ireland now

seems to have worked - no?

    Social distancing, hygiene, ppe- yes

Unfortunately we can’t prove comprehensively the lockdown in its current form was a waste of time (it’s probably better for some people’s morale to pretend it worked) but we can see that the openings from Phase 1 had no negative effects. That’s enough proof for me. If lockdown was such a success you’d imagine we’d have seen a rocket in cases

In theory yes, in practice 98% tested do not have covid.

With asymptomatic cases being 50 - 60 %+ I am actually surprised so many 23,000 or 35,000 get tested, but i am not surprised that 98% of them dont have covid.

I actually think HSE CEO came out and said 7/10 of close covid contacts who test positive for covid have no symptoms at all.

But all in all - covid is out there, it will always be out there, but because we test less and identify less covid cases doesnt mean that the current lockdown (in fairness there is no real lockdown for people, just businesses, black lives matter march evidence etc) is necessarily effective at reducing new cases.

Was well above 10% testing positive at one stage

It's for members of staff who become unwell and showing symptoms of Covid-19.

Tuesday I was off work due to reduced hours. Went into town in the afternoon. Got takeaway coffee and canoles from a great Italian cafe, went to bakery, butchers, pound store, enjoyed the sunshine, sat out by the river and on the way home went to a lovely restaurant to grab a takeaway. Sat out on the patio to eat when we got home and polished off a bottle of wine. Nightmare stuff, can’t wait till I can get on with life and be a happy citizen

Well I can definitely see why 2 month lockdown v 5 month lockdown would make virtually no difference to you.

To a business owner though who has to lay off staff? There wont be enough wine bottles to drink in the evening to mitigate the emotional effects.

    No it's not.

A car reg tells you where the car was first registered. I've owned D, G, MH, KE, DL, WH and LH reg cars. I haven't lived in all those places.

I meant they put your number into PULSE and your current address that the car is registered to (Motor tax records) comes up. I thought that was obvious!

EDIT: sorry I'm about 3 hours behind in reply and and and can now see this has been debated ! TBH it would still have stopped me driving to Cork in a D Reg car in March/April.

What about hairdressers , small businesses , taxi drivers with no work ?
People who can’t visit loved ones because they live too far away . Weddings cancelled , women going in alone for anomaly scans . ?
Not everyone is a lucky as you are

I spent money in 6 different small businesses in the course of one afternoon. Far more business activity going on than you think.

I never suggested restrictions at current levels should continue, just that there is a lot more that we can do than just stay at home complaining about NPHET

Cinemas, gyms, swimming pool, pubs the list feels endless.

Hopefully though, tomorrows announcement + large retailers allowed to open will accelerate things dramatically.

Bizarre tunnel vision. Just because you’re at home slugging bottles of wine doesn’t mean it’s not affecting other people.
