Anyone know what’s the story with the likes of Kildare village? All open air street style stores. Nothing on their social media. Have stores been blindsided by this and may not be ready for a Monday opening?
Isn't it a fair way from most places apart from Kildare?

Waiting to make sure it's not another "typo" maybe ;)

Would be great if our own government could tell us but instead the Portuguese seem to have more up to date information
It's up for review on 18 June anyway.

God my stomach turns everytime I read his punchline

Although it may be possible to speed up the roadmap, it has to be based on medical evidence: "Slow and steady. The plan can be accelerated but only if it's safe to do so."

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/ireland/pandemic-payment-to-be-reduced-for-part-time-workers-taoiseach-confirms-1003357.html

Then goes off to murder economy a bit more

The Taoiseach said: "As things stand, the pandemic unemployment payment is due to expire next week, cabinet will make a decision tomorrow on its future.

"I can give this assurance to anyone who has received the payment today, it will be extended for months, not for weeks," he added.

Jesus, bloody months. Extended for months. what the in gods name, 90% of the country should be back working in 3 weeks time at most...

Never thought I’d say this but Taoiseach Martin can’t come soon enough. Varadkar is just incapable of outside the tunnel thinking. Should have stayed with the GP career

they will be back working when they are back working, and then they won't be able to claim the payment.
so the amount of claimants will fall.

Gladly- it’s an utter waste of time but to save face and morale the people have to think it worked. Only things that work are some social distancing, ppe etc in care home and other vulnerable settings. Showvme the peer reviewed studies that show extended lockdowns prevent a viral pandemic

    *looks at current figures*

seems to have worked - no?

With all due respect there are less and less tests carried out.

Like 23000 last week? 35000 the week before?

Point being - if no one gets tested next week, we can say lockdown has eradicated covid as there are no new cases. But, you know

RTE.ie saying that hospital visits may be allowed as part of the next phase, starting Monday.

    Here’s hoping!

My dad had a stroke 9 weeks ago, is bed ridden & hasn’t had any visitors

Was there a Cabinet meeting today? Or is Nphet the new Government?

The Government has proposed and the Cabinet will decide tomorrow??

    .

On a whatsapp group only 1 message of a checkpoint in my area today. Usually there would be a good few by this time. Seems to be a drop alright.

Surely checkpoints drop away when we hit 20km on Monday anyway.

Less tests because less people presenting with symptoms / requirement to test, we are not testing at 100% capacity because there is no need

In theory yes, in practice 98% tested do not have covid.

With asymptomatic cases being 50 - 60 %+ I am actually surprised so many 23,000 or 35,000 get tested, but i am not surprised that 98% of them dont have covid.

I actually think HSE CEO came out and said 7/10 of close covid contacts who test positive for covid have no symptoms at all.

But all in all - covid is out there, it will always be out there, but because we test less and identify less covid cases doesnt mean that the current lockdown (in fairness there is no real lockdown for people, just businesses, black lives matter march evidence etc) is necessarily effective at reducing new cases.

It used to be strong. but beer and crisps and lockdown made it significantly weaker.

In all seriousness I do enjoy you randomly going after my posts, keeps me on my toes :pac:

I sympathize with you but I honestly don't understand how hospitals visits can be allowed when at the moment the virus is only really exists hospitals.

Most of the cases are healthcare workers but yet the public will be allowed to visit hospitals before barbers etc?

I do agree with you in principle and we haven’t kicked up a fuss with patient services like some people have but I am hoping that even my mother could get in- gowned up, etc
