hopefully its to announce a new roadmap with faster dates

Nothing he’s done to date would indicate that. No doubt the law abiding citizens will be in for another scolding if Saint Tony gets his oar in. I can’t see them deviating. They’re completely fixated on this tripe they called a “roadmap”.
I voted FG last election purely on the economy but it appears when the real hard decisions need making all they do is hide.

This risk with having low number of new cases is that our doom merchants scientists/professors (Gerrys) will come out and try to push govt into "just 3 more weeks of strict lockdown to completely eradicate this virus"

and knowing how easily Leo is convinced it is a real worry.

And yes, virus does seem to be going away, a smart man predicted this

"Nobel scientist predicts virus will 'burn out' in next two weeks
Computer modelling expert says Covid-19 was never truly exponential and will soon taper out"

    https://www.independent.ie/world-news/coronavirus/nobel-scientist-predicts-virus-will-burn-out-in-next-two-weeks-39194015.html

I said it before and i ll say it again give that professor Levitt a job in our government. And go to phases 2,3,4 on 8th of June.

This is good news and it’s obvious to anyone with even half a brain that the virus is on the way out. My worry is that now the real sh1t happens. Economically we know what is about to happen but from a lifestyle perspective, we are all going to have to get used to ludicrous permanent solutions to what was a temporary and fleeting problem in the year 2020. I heard again today how clothes shops are going to have quarantine trousers for 24 hrs after try ons by customers. Kids will be shuttled round schools in military formation and don’t get me started on how ball breaking air travel is going to be from now on. All because we overreacted in 2020, our lives change forever.

I could almost write the speech. “Enormous sacrifices” “Staying the course” “not there yet”. Some thoughtful poetic quotes thrown in as filler.
Would make you long for Brian cowen or someone that might tell it to us straight

Just checked Varadkars, Holohans and Harris twitter and not a peep out of them about the protest yesterday, seems like a blind eye and a bit of rule bending is ok when its a cool right on kind of march.

    They have lost all credibility

I for one won’t be listening to a word he says. He had my utmost support at the start of this and my past posts attest to that, but he’s a dithering spineless hypocrite and it’s farcical he can instruct us not to do xyz and guilt trip the public after what he tweeted yesterday

Here is one for Arghus, the Grand High King of Lockdown Land:

Not that I’d believe a word that comes out of Neil Ferguson’s mouth.

I don't think there's been any solid proof that you can catch the virus from objects someone has touched for what was probably only a couple of minutes? Millions of people have been getting online shopping deliveries for months and are here to tell the tale...

Tweet yesterday was shocking. Leo is extremely detached from the ordinary law abiding Irish man. Hasn’t a clue of our concerns and priorities in life and doesn’t care

10 new cases. 8 deaths. I know the deaths are from weeks ago but no other country is seeing that death to case ratio. Serious questions need to be asked about what is being classified as a Covid death at this stage

Of course. Nobody is going to catch the virus from a pair of pants or any other piece of clothing. The problem is that with the public whipped up into such irrational hysteria, retailers want to reassure people of the lack of risk of coming into their store. This particular trend will prevent shop browsing and impulse buying, reducing footfall and driving more people online. Hoop jumping measures in pubs will result in a similar effect.

For the businesses of Ireland, that triumvirate are now the Three Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The collapse of SMEs in the latter half of 2020 is going to be absolutely seismic.

And that little prick Harris who never worked a day in his life in the real world won’t be anywhere to be seen. Leo will have devolved it to FF by then too

Yeah he’s a weasel - happy to goad everyone about not being able to buy curtains a few weeks ago but has nothing say about the 1k imbeciles marching in Dublin yesterday

They’re exactly his type. Vacant, virtue signallers moral crusaders.
I’m no president trump fan but he was quick to criticise him the other day. Cheeky little bollox

Trump withdrew WHO funding - less money for Harris types. Probably has his eye on a big job there

As far as I’m concerned, the lockdown is over. I can see a good majority of businesses opening before the 29th of June.. the cases haven’t gone near 1% of an increase in nearly 4 weeks. How can they say we need to stick at this crap any longer. I’ve friends who own, run and work in the pub, restaurant and hotel trade and are going out of their minds. They see the likes of Spain, Italy and France opening up and wanting tourists ASAP and we’re here waiting and Dr Tony nearly wants a second wave at stage to keep his ego going. Only 23000 tests done in the past week. I’m full sure even if people have symptoms aren’t bothered getting tested just in case they can’t go and live their lives and get this lockdown over with!!
    Rant over!

Thanks bro. It's good to be called out by name.

Feels like a badge of honour! I'm one of the rare few on here with a dissenting opinion. Most others have sensibly given up.

You said yourself you wouldn't believe anything that comes out of Niall Ferguson's mouth - so why are you linking to an article based around words that came out of Niall Ferguson's mouth?

    Eh, he absolutely cruised in.
250 below the quota on Count 1 with the transfers of a vote-catcher running mate to come.
Elimination order would then decide whether he gets in on count 2 or count 12, but he was 100% guaranteed to get there given those initial votes.

Probably, but I find the characterisation of what constitutes a "Doom monger" a bit dubious.

There's going to be a lot of deaths from this disease = Doom monger.

There's going to be a huge economic recession and loads of deaths = somehow not a Doom monger.

Nope, most got themselves banned. Poor emotional control.

Some gave up boards altogether for the sunshine.

A few flitted in with poor arguments and quickly flitted out again.

Think the banning ratio between the pro and anti side is pretty even really.

Edi: One of the guys who thanked your post has been banned out of this thread. That's irony right there.

That is when things started to get a little bit silly. We created a 3 month long, 5 phase plan that meant a lot of people couldn't see family until 20th July. We insisted on keeping silly travel limits that no other country seemed to implement.

Wales have a travel limit of 5 miles.
