I think DD could be in trouble here as I remember well the musical cretins from 80's secondary school and their fascination with Talking Heads that they couldn't understand.

Can't really go against Prince, although The Clash were so good.

Duran Duran they had the look and the sound. Also Hungry like The Wolf.

Prince - great guitarist and singer, and had more songs I enjoy than The Clash.

Talking Heads - never been mad about Duran Duran, I think Talking Heads were more innovative and interesting.

Queen - Under Pressure is one of my favourite songs and for that alone I'd vote for them but they have a fantastic catalogue of songs from the 80s

The Cure - wasn't a fan at the time, but as I get older I appreciate their music more.
Ultravox - G'n'R mean nothing to me.

The Clash - two of my nominations, going with my favourite.
Talking Heads - the greatest band of all time, not just the 80s.

Blondie just an overall better band and I prefer that punk/new wave sound
Van Halen Queen were still good in the 80's but I still slightly prefer VH

Queen vs Van Halen - no comparison really, Freddie Mercury was a kind of magic.
