    Sorry I missed your question.

He ended up keeping it. Took a gamble that brexit would push up second hand premium car prices and I'd say it was a good bet. I think the VRT was around €13k so a bitter pill to swallow but a very nice car for €13k + raffle entry fee.
Thanks and fair dues to him

Could you have just put in on Done Deal or something (I am not sure if they use that in NI, but something similar anyway) and sold it yourself in NI without paying any VRT?

Of course you could. You could do anything you want.

BUT in my case, 2 phone calls and a text and 24 hours later the money is in my account!

All that for a few £2 entries.

    Happy days

    I researched it all.
Value of the car in the north,
Value of the car in the south.
    VRT pre and post 31/12/20

All told I could have held on and tried to sell it and make an extra 2-3k but the hassle factor was enough for me to just take the money and run!

If I won a high end yoke and the VRT was less than e10 k I'd hit the credit union as you'd get f ALL down here for e10k

    Competition between comps?

Anyone notice R-kings and McKinney are offering tit for tat comps comps lately....McKinney puts up £250k Vs RKings £150k,.....McKinney raffles an apt with RRover on Malone rd Vs RKings 3bed semi in some Nordy outpost....
....finding McKinneys marketing much better but R.kings comps more frequent,if slightly repetitive at this stage!

Yes and McKinney are taking massive profit margins or at least trying to to.
Latest one will rake in nearly 700k vs giving out prize worth 400-450k!
Rkings took in little less than 200k and gave prize worth 155k.

Didn’t bother with the McKinney one myself mainly for that reason, also price of ticket I suppose.

Rkings now have a house for raffle, I think many people probably seen it coming.

I find the McKinneys marketing bloody awful to be honest and their massive profit margins are also hard to take.

Well they are running a business! They may have larger overheads with paying for the marketing, Rory Best etc.

But look at R Kings and they will always make at least 50% on any of the top end cars.

I think people also forget their credit card processing bill must be massive for the amount of transactions they do

A lot of cars that are €45k here are low to mid 20’s in the UK.

Correct. They offer in the ball park of the Northern Ireland price.

The shine seems to have gone off the raffle sites, stuff not shifting anywhere like it used too

I've never bought into this before because honestly I don't really like gambling but I just bought a ticket for an S14 on Irish plates.
Better odds than the lotto I guess...

If your not in you can't win. That's what I used to tell myself back when I used to do the lotto but I haven't played the lotto in about 10 years.

I play like once a year at most, I probably have as much chance of buying a clean S14 as I do having 5 mil I'm the bank. :pac:

Shocking stuff, ya would have won last week

I just had a look a the site for the first time in a few months and no fancy cars etc up there although a nice cosworth.

Has it died a death altogether now? He should put up more motorbikes he'd probably move those faster with VRT being so low.

Pristine Competitions have a MK2 Escort for raffle. Been up a while & very slow to sell. This time last year it would have been gone in a day. Seems to have slowed down with those competitions ok.

I was about to post about “wonit” advertising a 2015 diesel Mercedes coupe for months but I see from their Facebook that they’ve ceased trading.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,506 ✭✭✭California Dreamer

RKings banging on about a poxy 2014 A3! What’s the point? Do they not think that the newer cars will sell better?

    A 2015 golf with nearly 100k miles?

That 640 which was wrapped with black wheels looked like a drug dealers car

They really are dragging the bottom of the barrel

My thoughts exactly, they have gone to the dogs with the **** heap cars they are offering.
McKinney much better cars, only problem been none of them are ever southern reg and tend to not offer any additional cash with them to help with vrt!

I read on FB last week where a guy won a Transit custom from rkings and was having a lot of trouble 'clearing' it . The van was landed to him and he was given a V5C , but no other paperwork, no ferry receipt, no customs declaration etc.

Why would he need a ferry receipt if it was going from NI to ROI?

Might be on a English reg, I don't think it's as straight forward with customs etc if it is.

Some snowflakes out there. They just won a van/car for a small entry fee and then complain because they have to do a little bit of work to get it sorted.:confused:

Don't know, would a receipt be needed if the van was registered to GB address .

You have paid for a service, you should expect that it meets certain standards

revenue may look for 10% excise and VAT, and then VRT (don't know about vans but for an English car you might win in a raffle now)
