    All cases relate to Italy.

And what is the obsession with the one day event of St Patricks Day? If you are risk of the virus, then you are at risk tomorrow morning and on March 18th.

    Are you ****ing stupid?

Tony Houlohan on Rte. "Our Public Health Doctors are experts at this. They have been doing this since the beginning."

    Yeah. Since ****ing Sunday!

This is getting serious and the state are clearly struggling to do anything but "reassure" the public.

Hi all, just the parent of the girl from Scoil Cathriona here. Just a quick one, daughter was tested this morning at home. Got an email at 7am saying doctor will be here at 10. They came at half 10, grey jeep marked doctor with green lights on top.

There was two people, doctor and an official from HSE. Nice chaps, test took 60 seconds and results tomorrow.

Just one strange thing, HSE person asked me was I on boards.ie and said dont believe all the hysteria going around.

Two other parents reported the same. Anyway doctor said keep daughter in until tomorrow, rest of family grand to get back to normal.

I thought self isolation was 2 weeks?

    Its a disgrace Joe!

It's going to be awful for him. He'll be remembered as the man who cautioned us to react calmly when we should actually have been aggressively protecting our borders and isolating ourselves to contain this.

It's like they want this to be catastrophic.

Then he should probably stop spouting rubbish.

Even though all cases in hospital, wonder does anyone know how sick they are, just wondering how hard it is hitting people...mother of an asthmatic

I've a feeling Tony Holohan will become the Patrick Neary, Emanuel Shinwell, Charles Trevelyan, the Catherine O'Leary's cow of Corona Virus in Ireland.

Yes it's not community transmission but 4 more people in contact with numerous more people spreading infection. You can't paint anything rosy about the scenario.

or the Michael Fish of Corona

So we’ve got 4 new cases here imported from Italy.

Is there still anyone on here honestly thinking that restricting entry in Ireland for people who have recently been to Northern Italy isn’t a good and useful idea??

Well I very much doubt restrictions are going to make the situation worse.

All cases of Irish people who would have got home one way or the other! Wonder have they had the sense to be self isolating.

As I’ve said before: prevent entry for non nationals and non residents who have recently been to Northern Italy, and for nationals and residents make clear to them traveling there is not recommended and they will be subject to extended screening and quarantine when they return. This would greatly reduce importation rates.

This lad on RTÉ is gas. Comical Ali. All is well. All contact tracing successful so far. Confident they will contain it.

The tracing isn't going to work if parades go ahead.

They didn’t travel through Dublin so I’m guessing Shannon?they hardly swam here.
Talk about vague news on the radio.

WHO reporting that the fatality rate is likely to be waaay below that of SARS and MERS. Sars rate was 9.6%, while MERS was 34.4%. WHO reckons COVID-19 will be somewhere between 1 and 2%, with a transmission rate way lower than the common flu.

Yet spreading like bleeding wildfire in Italia!!!

"West" is a bit imprecise. I want to know if it's time to park my car behind my gate and living off our stockpile of food.

the 6 bed in the mater !
The Mater is the only hospital in Dublin set up to handle this. They recently announced that they have set up a 6 bed ward to handle Covid 19.

Houlihan knows that hospital system can’t cope if this gets bigger and it will. This national committee will carry the can and they need to think about that.

Re the parade, I doubt many will venture into the city anyway (talking about the biggie in Dubland).

But with my cynical hat on those who must make the decision to cancel, postpone, or go ahead are facing....

    Failte Ireland
    Hotels Federation
    LVA and restaurants
    Sponsors
    etc.

There is also a huge World Irish dancing championship coming up in the Conference Centre with participants and family/supporters from all over the world.

I think another week of multiplying cases will make the decision for them. I think people are getting a bit angry about the dilly dallying going on. We are the citizens of this country and need clear leadership and good communication and want reassurance. It's not happening.

I'm getting a bit antsy myself now, and wasn't that worried up to now.
