Behind a pay wall. Couldn't see much after Coronavirus has mutated into more aggressive disease, say scientists ... Can you post it for us?

And what about all the Irish currently skiing in Italy, or visiting there for work or to see family? Do we just lock out our own citizens for the next 6 months? Many could have been there two weeks before the outbreak really took hold.

Keep in mind the two cases we have in Ireland are Irish people who've brought it home with them, not Italians here on holidays. Are you saying we should just close the borders and keep Irish people out, friends and family?

    Very good point.
Are people really suggesting to repatriate the Irish on military flights (similar to the UK repatriation flights from Wuhan) and then to quarantine them ?

Cant read it. The virus is very new and unknown. No body knows what damage this virus can do.

It could be like HIV and AIDS but different transmission routes and people might need to be on anti viral drugs for life. We don't know.

Researchers at Peking University's School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, discovered the virus has evolved into two major lineages - dubbed ‘L’ and ‘S’ types.

The older ‘S-type’ appears to be milder and less infectious, while the ‘L-type’ which emerged later, spreads quickly and currently accounts for around 70 per cent of cases.

Genetic analysis of a man in the US who tested positive on January 21, also showed it is possible to be infected with both types.

Why doesn’t he self isolate thereby drastically reducing his chances of getting the bad aids that is covid19?

    I'm a woman.

And yes, let me just lose my job and stay in my flat for months on end because other people are too stupid and too selfish to use basic common sense and follow some basic precautions.

    Love ableism.

    So childish.

    Not that childish!

I (personally) think the level of testing in this country is at 'head in the sand' levels.

UK/NHS seem to have their act together better (in my opinion).

Maybe my opinion is wrong/misplaced and possibly due to what I consider condescending sounding talk from the HSE....the likes of 'we don't expect anymore cases'!

They did actually try if you knew your facts - what happens is when they legislate against wet markets it drives them underground. Much like drugs.

They actually didn't. Hence we still have widespread wet markets. Didn't try too hard anyway.

    If i knew my facts?

So you would have to ban the entrance to any Italian wherever they come from.

In the circumstances that might be a good and logical thing, after all Italy is suspending all education, all public admissions to the football so why not match that two week minimum period?

    No. Nobody suggested that once.

    Massive inequality and poverty yes.

They also have massive cites with big skyscrapers nukes and a space program.

It is a land of contradictions to be sure.

Not so much a land of contradictions as it being typical of a developing country. Look at Brazil - some people living in flash penthouses with household staff and others living in favelas.

China just has more people full stop, so the effect is more pronounced.

Four more cases in the west!

    edit: west of Ireland

Look up the definition. "a thing causing trouble or irritation."
Picking on semantics shows you don't have anything else to add.

Pull the other one. You're deliberately being sensationalist using the word plague when talking about a fast spreading viral disease.

I think you should read up on it a bit, it's not as simple as 'we're banning wet markets, deal with it'. No desire to get into a back-and-forth about it.

Ireland’s first cluster of coronavirus cases has been confirmed, after a family of four tested positive for the disease on Wednesday evening.

The group comprises two males and two females, and are in the west of the country.
