Another downside is your looking at a insurance hike after making a claim . That you will have to live with for a few years.

I'd be more thinking they simply took the chassis plates off the crashed car and put them on the OP's stolen car.
no, they used my parts on the crashed chassis, probably 90kw battery pack and everything! otherwise as soon as they turned it back on my app would have updated presumably.

Also, guards said apparently the pin to drive can be hacked also....

Maybe it’s BS, but have I not read it’s as simple as 12v battery disconnection

Glad there's some closure, at least you know the outcome.

Wonder would it have been easy to spot it as a cloned car at NCT? Surely the colour change would have been noticeable, then again original colour details might have only applied where colour change was done while on Irish VLC, I doubt we capture original UK colour changes after imported here.

Do you think he’d bother with an NCT?

When your car was recovered did they locate your original chassis too?

What part is BS exactly? Genuinely interested to know. What knowledge do you have?

He didn't say it is BS. He's unsure if it is or not.

Delighted you got some closure OP. Had my pride and joy stolen a decade ago and I never had any closure on it.

Seconded, even if it wasn't the news you wanted. I had mine stolen over 2 decades ago, still pi%%es me off today.

The person getting caught and getting closure are not the same. I'd a person caught red handed trying to steal my car, a long time later and 2 trips to court he walked out without a conviction just because he wasn't hunted down after skipping bail!

Most people never know what became of their stolen property. Was it broken for parts? Rallied in a field and burnt out? Sent abroad, or used in a serious crime?

The OP at least knows what happened to his car and as a bonus, the person was caught. Whether or not that leads to a conviction is a different story, but it's a little less likely his next car will be targeted by the same scumbag who stole the first.

Specialist detectives have smashed an eastern European gang that stole more than 70 electric cars with a total value of around €1.5m in an organised crimewave.

In their latest raids against the gang, officers from the Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit (SMVIU) searched a garage in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin earlier this month where they discovered parts from a stolen luxury Tesla Model S car.

That vehicle, which was bought for more than €100,000, is understood to be the only Tesla stolen so far in Ireland - it was taken from the Malahide area of north Co Dublin last year.

Well thats clearly not true since the OP's car was stolen last Feb. The car in the article was stolen last year, they said. I'd bet there were more too.

I would imagine its mine as the rest of the details match up about the eastern european gang and the other cars etc. just terrible journalism

Well Crimecall last night had a Garda Detective talking about Eastern European gangs involved in stealing and the attempted theft of E-cars ,they had CCTV footage of a gang and the technology they are using to mirror the frequency of the fob to get the car open.

I'm sure the Detective was from the Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit.

Im sure that its the same Tesla S that was stolen in Ireland worth 100k Approx from the OP above.

    North County Dublin/ Malahide area.

Did you see Crimecall last night? I think the Tesla S stolen was yours? Garda said it was the only one stolen this year.
