Unless it's anyone but FG, then it's hurlers from the ditch and all that sh*te right?
Funny how FG/Varadkar are openly 'relishing' going into opposition. Are these the lads you all meant regarding 'they don't want to govern'? Is that cool now it's FG? Don't get me wrong I hope they f*** off for a long long time.

9 years in power is a long time. FG did the State some service. Didn’t get a mandate from the voters for more of the same so it’s just being honest about the need to go into opposition. It’s up to the voices of change to go off and form a government.

The hurlers on the ditch refers to lads who have the answers to everything but are terrified about lining out and playing. The perpetual voice of complaint and easy answers to complex issues.

Time to step up and see if there’s any bite behind the bark.

I agree, a 90 day eviction process to lower mortgage interest rates, abolishing the social housing requirement to lower house prices and increase securitisation for banks, cutting tax on healthcare products and abolishing VRT and motor tax would definitely assist in reducing the overburdening of the middle class.

Great you can look down your nose at the sick and homeless as you sit in even worse traffic.

Or we could attempt to strike even the smallest bit of balance and build public transport, housing and a single payer health system

What’s your read on it so, Francie? What sort of Machiavellian tricks are the men and women of the FG parliamentary party getting up to?

I have no idea Johnny, and that is why I said, they are finding difficulty coping. They have been humbled and instead of manning up and talking to people they are huffing.
Nothing as clever as Machiavelli going on.

So you don’t know what’s going on, but there’s something going on, and you don’t like it, even though you’re not sure what it is.

    Right....

They aren’t huffing. Huffing would be running around blaming everyone and trying to form a government despite only being 3rd in seat numbers. All they are saying is ‘yip, people want change, so let’s go into opposition’.

Sure even MLM is saying that!

Fine Gael would like to ask the media and public for privacy at this difficult time. Burial and church service is family only. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fine Gael social media, communications and strategy improvement fund...

Some political parties don’t invite friends or family to their “burials”.

Huffing is sitting in a corner moaning about not being appreciated, or loved enough.

They connived their way back in last time.

Seems to me everyone except FG are trying to get into government.
Is 'complex' code for ignored or exacerbated?

Yes, thankfully it looks that way or a new election maybe.

I'll take that as an admission of failure after 9 years, no belief in their own policies, if they truly had confidence in what think they have 'achieved' they would make an effort to remain in government.

    Disgraceful party, disgraceful leader.
It’s highly amusing to see posters who were so keen to see the back of FG now admonishing the party for stating they need a period in opposition.

Completely missed the point, is it any wonder FG FF still get votes.

Looks to me like FG are taking the view of getting the smallest number of votes from the largest 3 parties, and therefore, letting the 2 who got the larger slices, sort stuff out.

They can't win on this one - if they push forward for government they will be accused of ignoring the democratic process where people voted for change. If they decide on Opposition that are accused of not engaging and sulking.I don't like it much but I can absolutely see why they are taking the position that they are taking.

I hope they don't go into government. The point is Varadkar isn't looking to try and as the SD's said, just playing games at the moment. All the while insulting and name calling the opposition during their tenure.
Since when did FF or FG put the country or it's democratic process first? Did you not see the farce we've been enduring the last few years and Varadkar having not received a mandate from the people?

SF policies are criticised as not feasible! look at the **** show we currently have! Masses outside the tax net, no water charges, no LPT , spending based on huge but unstable corporation tax returns, addressing the housing crisis by rip off deals like in dundrum. Wanting to continually hike the already over the top state pension by twenty a five euro over the next five years. This bull****, which is just decades of outrageous vote buying, this isnt SF policy, its FFG!

    ........

SF won't do anything different there.
Well, they'll likely shaft anyone with a house worth a few quid.

Things must have really improved in West Belfast where I assume you live?

The constituency of West Belfast had the joint second-highest rate of child poverty (43%) in the UK (2012 UNICEF report)

Discussing The Republic, specifically talk on a FF/FG/Green coalition and FG/FF's time in the outgoing government.
I suggest you start or join one of the many Shinner/FG sour grape threads ;)

SF lost control of DCC in the LE and every LA is being slowly bled of funding by central government. But who needs facts right?

And what did they do about heights while in control? Nothing! More restrictive!

And even now there is still left wing control of DCC, and what are they doing about heights? Trying to bring Johnny Ronan to court for having the cheek to build 13 floors in the Docklands!

I believe FG have more councillors on DCC than any other party. That said no council has been good on housing.
