    South Roscommon, 8.16Kwp, facing 210° at 35°, 9.6kWh battery

Total generation 316.40kWh (prediction at 292.1kWh, last year 351.5kWh)

    Consumed 845.70kWh (62% self use).

    Energy from Grid 669kWh

    Energy to Grid 120kWh

    To the Eddi 64.60kWh

To the Zappi 476.90Wh (mostly now night rate)

    To the Battery 210.60kWh

    From the Battery 207.70kWh

    Best day 3rdwith 23.8kWh

    Worst day 22nd with 1.5kWh

Energy exported would have generated €28.80 at Energia FIT rate

That concludes our second full year. Was a poorer year than 2022 with 7511.06kWh generated '23 vs 7945.39kWh for '22 and was a fairly dull summer when compared to last year and it felt it.

360 kWh from my 6.1 kWp system here in Cork.

25% better than last November and way over the estimate from PVGIS

Novemeber was pretty good really here, had a good few days that were over 20 kWh which is about 50% of my total max summer daily output of around 44 kWh.

The larger S only produced the same as the smaller S. Do you know why that is?

Are the panels flatter so the lower winter sun reduces the output, or is there a lot more shading at that site? If it's neither, there is something else amiss maybe.

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭Thewitheredowl

The 2nd larger installation is in the Dublin mountains, so I think it suffers with extra cloud cover and it takes the sun a little longer to emerge in the mornings. I don't think PVGIS takes that into account. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does with the higher sun in the Spring/Summer.

It was only installed on 20th Oct and it did 135kW between then and the month end and the prediction was 365kWh for the entire month.

4.86 kWp system, 2.835kWp south, 2.025kWp west, located in Dublin 15. No battery or Eddi.

139.59kWh produced in November, 59.19kWh consumed, 80.4kWh exported, 177.37kWh imported, total consumption 236.56kWh.

I might just skip checking in at the end of December, such has been the drop off in the last week or two in particular and that likely won't improve until a good bit into next year.....

Your North stats are very interesting. Where are they installed? Main roof? Asking as I assumed the N output would be way less.

Looks like N produced the same as the 3.9kWp strings during the summer months.

Would a shed roof that doesn't get sun act like N? I could diy that and it's the only space I've left.

Alpha ESS changed their API, need to accelerate the android app development. Still a work in progress. But progress :-)

Given how I felt, it is a pleasant surprise how Nov compared with previous years (for me). The bigger battery accounts for the reduction in feed, I think.

Well into my winter shading. My guess is ~40% lost due to trees and low sun. Lower string impacted more.

The buy/use mix continues to lean towards more expensive afternoon/evening electricity

And in terms of real money, still on track for net zero (give the electricity credits)

224kWh generated - 6.72kW system facing ESE in South Dublin.

    400kWh consumed.

In November, self-used 47.79% of electricity generated, and fed in the other 117kWh (no battery).

Since initial installation on March 7 2023, a total of 5.45MWh generated, 3.80MWh fed to grid, 3.22MWh consumed (self generated & imported), with a self-use ratio of 30.28%.

Yes, spot on. On a crap day, the north generated the same per kWp as a Sth

And yes too, my south shed totally shaded acts like my North.

I actually have the 4 panels on it in parallel, which isn't great really

Pretty poor month even considering it was December.

Only managed to get to 90.7% of PVGIS. I was up 12% over last years numbers but considering I added 3 panels last April, which was 22% increase....overall it's down on last year too. I miss those days of 4-5kw pumping in hour after hour.

My shed chipped in with 29.78 kWh so 94Kwh for the month.

212 kWh on my 6.1 kWp system south facing in Cork just a tickle over my predicted

Total for 2023 was 6,411 kWh which is about 300 kWh over the predicted but 8.5% less than 2022 where I generated 7,010 kWh

Over all excluding May last year, which was outstanding, the year on a whole was poor to average roll on 2024

AlphaESS had a DNS challenge yesterday. Very frustrating. Can definitely see the merits of a fully local solution. App now in internal testing, and open source.

Not a great December, worst one for me so far, but not by much.

From April 2001, on the upswing now

Lots of expensive electricity used as the battery is not sufficient at this time of the year

The bottom line is I'm still on track for net zero, considering the €450 from the state. €455 in credit, and no payments on my account since I switched in Dec '22.
