Has October been brutal for others so far? Nearly half way through the month and have only generated 146kwh, nothing but cloudy dull days with no sun. For context I've 9.68 KW of panels facing due south & generated over 3000kwh from July 1st to the end of September.

    "Winter is coming"

October is the last month of autumn (Deireadh Fómhair, end of harvest) in the Celtic calendar and it's tracks too for the last month of autumn in the PV generation too (length of day)

Would be comparable to February in length of day, but usually a bit warmer.

    currently at 133kWh from a 7.9kW installation.

Yeah I was expecting a bit more for October though, big drop from 850kwh in Sept. First year with solar so I've been using OpenSolar models as a rough guide of what level of generation to expect each month. So far it's under shot the actual generation since July by about 10 - 15% per month but this month's generation is trending to be well below OpenSolar's predication of 530kwh. I guess these models are built on averages though and the weather here in the West has been even more dull and cloudy so far this month than the average October.

How does it compare to the EU model

    https://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvg_tools/en/#PVP

We've found that too be quite accurate (and usually on the pessimistic side.

First 12 days of Oct '25 vs '24 (right).

I added 60% more panels between the two. Very bad start to the month this year

Oonly 131 kWh so far this month. Fairly disappointing

102 kWh so far, forecast to generate 400 kWh for Oct, but Ill be lucky if we produce half that at this rate.

    ☀️ 8.2kWp ⚡4kWp south, ⚡4.20kWp west

Up to 163 now, 10kWh over the last 2 days is all, and literally nothing given back to grid as its only keeping my battery topped up during the day is all

    167kWh here. Stupid bland weather.

Yes, October is poor compared to 2023 and 2024, but on the whole 2025 is shaping up to the better than last year, I’m already at last years total PV generation with 2 months to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,023 ✭✭✭GhostInTheRuins

    203kwhs for October.

    IMG_6825.jpeg

Also just passed the one year mark of having the solar, 4,500 kWhs for the year which is more than PVGIS predicted. It’s covered almost all my electricity and gas bills for the year so I’m quite happy with it.

Poor october to be fair. 6.5Kwp in E/W South Dublin city.

    image.png

Only 82% of PVGIS, but as one of the other posters noted, I've already broken my all time yearly total and I've still 2 months to go, so 2025 is very good year!

My shed (2.3Kwp due south) chipped in with 85Kwh, so a total of 276kwh off 8.8Kwp in total.

Now come the 3 bad months of Nov → Jan. <sigh>

Nasty October this time around by a lot, 480kwh vs 600kwh last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,761 ✭✭✭✭ted1

disappointing month. Just 263.6 kWh only 8 days had over 10 kWh.

    PVSol forecasted 380 kWh

6.3 kW system in south Dublin

    Meh month.

    1000005450.png 1000005449.png

    2025 YT Nov 5895.0 kWh

2024 YT Nov 3678.0 (5884 adjusted for added panels)

The early winter closes the gap for my usage pattern in terms of supplier. Using credit till spring.

I'll need to get an LLM to scrape the updated costs this coming month. I added a JSON schema for the price plans so that works quite well.
