August 2023: 6.1 kWp system facing south in Cork

Total Generated 705 kWh (about 25% less than last August...but last Aug was one of the best)

    Self consumed 58% of it

2023 so far running 6% behind 2022, hopfully this indian summer in September we are getting will bring that down a bit..

    August 2023

2.1kWp system, South facing, North Dublin

    Monthly Generation: 145kWh

(note: a cabling error was corrected about the last week of the month that improved performance significantly. In the first week of Sept, with the better weather, I'm already over 50% of August figures)

    331 kwh. 3.2 SE .8 W .8 NW.

I now have a full year of data from my diy setup. 3.6 mwh. Happy with that considering the winter months sun struggles to rise above the houses behind mine. Still have an empty roof waiting for panels, will get there eventually.

    ☀️ 10.75kwp.

South Dublin City. 6.5Kwp split 2.3 East - 4.2Kwp West

Nice bump over last year, but that was because I installed 3x extra panels in April, and I didn't manage to get PVGIS for Sept. It was close to be fair, but always nice to get the expected yield. Next month will be the two year mark.

Damm Harvi looks like it broke this morning also.

Hey Eggs, you should state the Kwp and the orientation. This way people have a good understanding of your setup and can compare like-for-like. Saying you have 12 panels is good, but of course no one knows what type of panels (size) they are. Are they 350w, 380w, 400+w ...... so you could have a 4.1kwp system with 12 panels, or a 4.8Kwp system. Do you know what I mean?

That said, if you do have a 4.8Kwp, generating 480Kwh off that is pretty dam good. I've 6.5Kwp (split e/w) and I only managed 404Kwh

First month on Pinergy - Imported 145 @ 5c / Exported 246 @ 28c - Profit €61.63 (Deemed Export would have been about €12). So about €35 cr after Standing Charges

So staying on DN and on Deemed Export would have cost around €25 inc the Standing Charges

6.84kWp south facing, Roscommon. 4.8kw battery.

    Sept 2023

    565kWh generation

    Total consumption 633kWh.

103.5kWh to Eddi (mostly using immersion for HW during the summer, that's another 10l of oil saved)

    145 kWh exported

    161kWh imported (no day/night meter)

    37.1kWh generated best day (4th)

    3.7kWh generated worst day (30th)

If my stats continue as expected for the rest of the year, I will have about 50% of the install cost to myself paid back in two years and should be fully covered within 4 years, compared to the initial ROI of 8-9 years.

It really has been a no-brainer investment.

Time and time again you rock in with great figures ECO. I know you have zero shading etc as we talked about this before, but yeah, very solid.

For comparison I did 404Kwh off 6.5Kwp in Dublin, albeit mine are E/W split (exactly)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,411 ✭✭✭DC999

Yeah, @ECO_Mental you actually got double what my 4.9kWp system got on an E/NW setup. The joys of an unshaded south facing setup. Fair play!

My third September was my best so far. 😀

Just buying and selling without active dumping before the cheap rate starts. Don't think the battery is big enough to make that worthwhile. Plus I'd need to automate... It will probably happen naturally as the days shorten.

Net cost of electricity for Sept ~€11 excluding PSO, FIT increase part through the month and the rate drop.

    October - 6.4KW array, split NE/SW - 5KW KStar BluE-S 5000D inverter - 5KWh CATL battery

    Produced - 302.8KWh

    Consumed - 338.7KWh

    Exported - 72.0KWh

Imported - 103.5KWh (for topping up the battery overnight, occasionally the hot water cylinder, if needed early and a 500W heater when needed at night)

    Cost of electricity = €10.67 (export € - import €)

7 room bungalow heated with a wood stove in the lounge during the evening. Desiccant dehumidifiers drying the damp and heating during the day. 500W heater in one bedroom at night, if the room temperature is below 16C. Average house temperature 16.5C by day, living room 23C by night. Average humidity 60%.

  • Registered Users Posts: 220 ✭✭curioustony

October was not as bad as it seemed

The buy/sell mix is shifting a bit as the battery is not large enough to cater for the poor solar days

In real money, will be using up my credit to cover the evening usage :-(

**edit just corrected some of the numbers below wrong I was just lower than estimate**

350 kWh for Oct 23, which lower than PVGIS estimate but 15% lower than October 22 and 20% lower than Oct 21 which was my first full month.

6.1 kWp, south of Cork city

In other news here is my general consumption data for the month. Just got a smart meter mid month so Im actually going to start exporting more for FIT and use the EI boost rate to charge the car, som my self consumption shoud go down. It wasnt that great anyway 😏
