So, basically, the authorities in Ireland are now facilitating and rewarding people smuggling. The current batch of lorry jumpers will get to stay too.

Expect this to continue and numbers to increase.

Jaysus, good luck to any Irish artic driver doing continental runs once this filters back. A lad I know had to face down a few of them at a petrol station in Belgium last year. Absolute scum he said, he only does UK runs now after it.
Do these get to repatriate there families now? Anyone know, ta

Funny how all the Irish politicians bow and scrape at the Whitehouse every Paddys day to beg the US to normalise the illegal Irish though...

All illegals should be deported. Whether that’s Paddy in the US or an illegal yank here.

Come here through the collect channels, and not the channel, or not at all.

Nine boats carrying 125 migrants have been intercepted on their way to the UK as searches continue for more vessels.

The Home Office said Border Force dealt with several incidents on Friday after being alerted to small boats in the Channel.

Meanwhile, French authorities picked up three migrants in a kayak plus another 15 in a broken down boat and returned them to France.

No nationality details were available at this stage, the Home Office said.

The migrants would be interviewed and dealt with in line with immigration rules, transferring to detention where appropriate, it added.

The first boat was intercepted at about 00:30 BST on Friday and 14 men were found on board.
    Record number

Vessels continued to arrive throughout the night and well into the next day, each with between eight and 19 people on board.

125 officially entered the U.K. yesterday by boat. The numbers arriving on these islands is only going to increase.

Australia regarded the illegal immigration issue as a simple supply/demand issue back in the 90s.
If you deny access to residency via illegal routes, the supply of illegal immigrants immediately dries up.

Hey presto, overnight, no more deaths at sea and in the back of articulated lorries.

Agreed, although due to Australia's location it's easier for them to ignore international condemnation over their policies. There were plenty of complaints all around about their behavior in doing so... I don't think Ireland has the will to ignore such condemnation... Our politicians have too much of a need to suck up to the EU or international groups. At least, not until the desire to virtue signal is purged.

I reckon the chances of survival in the back of a lorry trying to drive to Australia wouldn't be too good

Rte have not followed up or updated the story of the men who were seen jumping from a lorry that disembarked from the ferry.
Do you ever get the feeling that RTE editorial publish some stories simply because they have no choice but they'd rather not report them?
