I'm dead curious as to what or who The Cuphead Show is aimed at; never got the impression the game was that big of a hit it'd spawn a cartoon.

Strange that they're showing One of Us is Lying since it's a Peacock series so figured it would show up there. Unless it's not owned by Peacock so the international rights were open to others.

Shows and films from the US-only streaming services can often show up anywhere here - they just pass off the rights a lot of the time. There’s some commercial agreements (like HBO and Now / Sky) but otherwise it can be fairly open season. Disney offloaded the new Adrian Lyne film to Amazon, for example, despite it going to Disney-owned Hulu in the US (too raunchy for Disney+ Star here, it’d seem).

Alas, some stuff just doesn’t show up here at all - the recent seasons of Search Party, for example.

Watched 1st part of Kanye West trilogy. A good watch. Interesting to see what he was like starting out. Lot of unseen footage in it.

The reviews seem to be good for this and I hadn't realised there was so much early footage before reading about it - I probably wouldn't have bothered if it only concentrated on his later career. but I'll probably watch it over the next couple of weeks. I really liked College Dropout and Late Registration but honestly can't stand the guy now. From reviews it seems to go from young hopeful producer and rapper - ten year break - to rapper surrounded by sycophantic parasites and major mental health issues. It might make me a bit more sympathetic to him.

First part goes from childhood up until he signs his first record deal. Soon as he signs the papers thats where it cuts off. Yeah he's unrecognisable now compared to whats in the footage. I think thats whats keeps you glued to it. Hard to believe its the same person.

Going well off topic but the Netflix thread often acts as a General Streaming Chat thread as it's so popular but it's really odd that Abbott Elementary hasn't found it's way onto Disney+ here yet. I don't know if it's because they are just holding off a little or it will end up elsewhere. It's getting a lot of acclaim and it feels like we're in this era of global connectivity where slowly rolling out shows across international markets comes across as a really bad strategy.

    Money Heist for sure

Watched the Boeing documentary. Shocking how corporate greed changed the company so much that it caused the deaths of all these people. And whatever about the jet being certified flight worthy now, nothing can change the fact that the body of the plane is still too small for the larger engines, whatever about there being a software system to cater for odd manoeuvres. I guess it will be impossible to avoid flying on it tho.

Enjoyed the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Much better effort than the latest halloween installment.

Just finished watching Blood Red Sky. An interesting entry in the vampire/horror genre and worth a watch if that is your thing

The kill team is very good

    *Googles new Adrian Lyne film*

Hmm so a raunchy Ana de Armas film. Sounds like an interesting premise.

Enjoyed that doc. I am fascinated by the US and how often this kind of thing happens. When Corporations do things like this that result in multiple deaths nobody ever seems to go on trial never mind go to jail yet they incarcerate millions for petty crimes.

The new Texas chainsaw movie is dreadful. Need to stop butchering this all time classic horror film and just make something new instead.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,295 ✭✭✭jj880

Just watched this. Boeing scumbags. Cost cutting and share price over safety and people's lives.

I feel like never flying again for the rest of my life. It will be on my mind next time flights are talked about. I dont care if the plane is not a Boeing. They are all cutting costs and safety to stay competitive.

I couldn't get through the latest Texas Chainsaw massacre, I found myself being more interested in my phone than the movie itself so switched it off after 40 minutes or so.

I turned to a movie called 13 Minutes, it's about a mid western town in the US that is renowned for tornadoes. It was an odd one because it told a story about the lives of the people in the town and how they were connected before the tornado hit. This was actually alright, if I had of checked IMDb before starting it I probably wouldn't have bothered as its only rated at 4.5/10

I really enjoyed it and found a lot of it really profound which I hadn't been expecting. And his mam, oh wow, what a lady.

    The Power Of The Dog

Really liked this. It's very slow going but it held my interest throughout. I kind of guessed what was going to happen but I was never quite sure where it was going at the same time.

Cumberbatch and Smit-McPhee are both great, and Dunst is good too, but man, Jesse Plemmens really does just play every character the same way. I have no idea why people rave about him. I mean, he's good and it suits this character, but really, it's the same every time.

Don't Kill Me (2022) (Italian) - After Mirta dies of a drug overdose with her lover, she resuscitates alone and discovers she's part of a violent world she never knew existed

Brahms: The Boy II (2020) - On the heels of trauma, a couple relocates to a remote estate, where their young son bonds to a doll who is very lifelike -- and possibly very evil
