As a more mature EP attendee i just love the way music brings us together generationally. I have always lodged in jimi h. and love its comraderie and surrealism..never an ounce of strive or conflict...looking for funny moving inter-generational stories....
2 years ago we were having a tinnie and changing into our least smelly gear when a bunch of youngsters rocked in...
    What ye off to see?
    The Prodigy.
PRODIGIG!!! Their amazing dancers...we have to see them
    And off they leapt
    Hope they enjoyed

Mature and Hendrix are usually never used in the same sentence when talking about EP

Back at work, hope everyone had a great Chrimbleworf and Nu Yar!
Roll on festival season and the highs and lows of line-up sleuthing.

I'm afraid we're going to need a definition of "mature" for context here.

I should have gone to Coachella fifteen years ago. It just seems to have utterly lost its soul and it would kill me to have to put up with three days of the Instagram crew, segregated drinking areas and vacuous, corporate dance music. Rage, Thom Yorke, Viagra Boys & Sleaford Mods just look way out of place there.

Lollapalooza seems good. Austin City Limits and SXSW appeal much more. Anyone have feedback on US festivals?

    It looks grim alright.

Rifling through the undercard for acts that might pop up this year - hoping for a RTJ return. Don't think we'd be lucky enough to get RATM. BADBADNOTGOOD - this year's Sons of Kemet. I expect a full attendance at the Cosby Stage, three can minimum.

pretty good lineup, although not as good as it used to be, too much disposable US rap for my tastes.

I was hoping to bring the Mrs to Electric Picnic for her 40th this year but have just been to the site to check out tickets and it seems all of them are already sold out - is that really the case? Will there be any second releases?

It's sold out, but you'll be able to pick up tickets closer to the time. Just don't pay over the odds for them.

They are sold out but there will always be tickets available at face price in the month / weeks running up to the event as people will have booked who might have clashes, lack of funds etc will start getting rid of them.

Given the large increase in tickets, I'd suspect a lot of tout type ****wits will lose their shirts on trying to make money off tickets.

Message this year as every year is hold your fire, don't panic, you WILL get one for face value or less in the run up to it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,935 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Jeeez I did not expect that to happen :( I may have to look at a plan B as, although the odds of getting tickets at on or near face value sound high, that's a lot of risk associated with something as big as a 40th!! Thanks for the responses guys

I’m not looking to get banned here but I’d there anywhere I can get at least a 1day Sunday ticket without having to go to those extortionate sites charging 400 per day per ticket

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,746 ✭✭✭BullBlackNova

To both the above posts - your best bet is Toutless. They ban above cost selling and are well regarded by many on here.

There will be plenty popping up on second hand sale sites and Facebook etc, some probably for less than face value if last year was anything to go by, but it's obviously a big gamble, especially in the case of it being a present, for example.

The only actual sale that will happen between now and the festival will be the Three members sale but those fly out in literally minutes as its a small number of tickets.

Just be careful if buying tickets this year, as Ticketmaster have issued more than 1 set of tickets (I got 3 sets). They all have the same codes etc, so only 1 will work on the day. It'll make things easier for the dodgy types, so do your homework..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,294 ✭✭✭Fatfrog

Normally Coachella is the indicator of who's touring and gives a refreshed seeding etc, but other than RATM theres not a whole pile I'd like to see at EP.

Yeah as mentioned above register on toutless, put a post in the EP 20 thread and buy from someone with a high post count who has a history of buying and selling - any messing on that site isn't tolerated.

Was there ever any explanation as to why there were only 3 Main Stage acts on the Friday in 2019?
I'd like to see that back to normal levels (5) for this year.
Also some Main Stage reggae/ska of a Sunday afternoon, really missed that last year.

Probably a sign that I'm no longer 'Main Stage Demographic' tbf

I think that's one of the most frustrating elements of the festival for the last 5/6 years - the limited Fridays. The festival is bigger, louder, more expensive, the works; and despite that, there is still very little going on on the Friday.

No comment on the quality, simply the quantity. If you have people in from Thursday evening, it's not unreasonable to expect music from mid Friday and some variety too.

Several there I'd like to see but EP will have a much better lineup than that, never mind Glasto, Primavera and others. €395 is an incredibly expensive festival and that's excluding the shuttle cost to Palm Springs from LA and the flights to the US.

After all that I'd like to be able to drink a beer while watching the bands. Being stopped from doing that would kill any festival for me.

Just checked online and there were four (David Keenan, Billie Eilish, Dermot Kennedy, Hozier). Still too few. Hadn't registered this before as spent no more than 45 mins there on the Fri last year. And I'd expect the Friday this year to be an upgrade on that lineup.

Yup same rules as Opener in Poland, there's a drinking area but not near the main stages like most festivals, which is a load of sh1te.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

They would need to extend their license as far as I know which could be what’s stopping them.

2012 I think was the last year of a full day Friday, the future was uncertain for the festival I remember in 2013 and they cut back on stages for Friday that year. They have never amended that since, you used to get good electronic acts playing the Little Big Tent right up to 3 AM, but the little big didn't kick in till Saturday from then on. Coming to think of it, I suppose the LBT became the Terminus which was going on Friday night but finished at midnight.

And why would they? They’re still selling out without having to put money into Friday
