Why should other counties merge? Are you ignoring this tweet? Money is the reason for Dublin's dominance. That's why they should be split.

Contradiction? It's either an intercounty championship or it's not. If Dublin is ever split I would never attend another game again and I'm a season ticket holder.

I don't know if it has been suggested on the thread as I have not read it, if others really want to split Dublin and change the county boundary, why don't the other counties lead by example and change their boundary first. Perhaps merging Meath and Kildare or Mayo and Galway as one entity to take on Dublin. I always suggest this to begrudgers in work and they change the subject.

Why should other counties be forced to change when it is Dublin that are the issue? Dublin is only one county.

Would be great to see someone post the additional GD funding other counties received from their provincial councils over the last number of years. Not as an exercise in whataboutery, but to add balance to the figures thrown out as the complete GD funding program

Don't Dublin get funding from their provincial council?

Dublin are funded as a province from central council, they have no access to Leinster GD funds

There’s damn all buzz around Dublin for this.

It’s got to the stage that even Dublin ppl are bored and have turned off

Dublin GAA and various politicians (Bertie) along with Croke Park have managed to absolutely 99% ruin their marquee championship.

    Well done all ....

That's not true. Can you tell me the reason for you to make that statement? Either you don't know the extent of the funding Dublin get or you are lying, which is it?

For someone that was basing their shock on one tweet you suddenly seem to know a lot more.

Is development among young people in schools, etc? That seems about right, same allocation per capita. The problem is that one team has a population of 1.5m

They are funded as a separate province for games development

Jaysis that escalated quickly, once again there are those that are ready to jump on the figures as concrete proof in support of their bias.

My understanding of the grant from Leinster Council to Dublin which has been more or less static at 240K per annum is that it's channeled into a specific hurling coaching project for all of Leinster and that Dublin facilitate its implementation.

But then again I don't know for certain, so I'm going off to do a little bit of research.

    Tough crowd tonight..

It's very sad really. Gaelic Football was and is a great sport but the showpiece event has been completely ruining by financial doping and other advantages enjoyed by Dublin.

What's almost as bad is their supporters who stick their heads in the sand and try to argue over and over that the status quo is fair. Imagine being so biased you'd see the inter- county game destroyed rather than see every team compete fairly.

Interest is waning, the buildup has been incredibly muted for a Dublin- Kerry final where five in a row is at stake. Unthinkable even 15 years ago. Attendances are well down. Win or lose this weekend, Dublin will have to be split if the All Ireland competition is to survive.

Plenty of hype in Dublin and Kerry with walls being painted and sheep being sprayed and tickets like hens teeth. Scarce.
Wouldn't expect such excitement to be shown in Carlow or elsewhere.

It's an absolute disgrace how much money the Dubs have spent in the transfer market over these last few years alright.

Buying up all the best talent from less fortunate counties for exorbitant fees and offering the players wages that other counties just can't match.

Wait till they start poaching Premiership players and demanding that they start using their hands.

There'll be no stopping them, Joe.

There's much less hype than virtually any other final I can think of, in both Dublin and Kerry and around the country. Tickets relatively easy to come by relative to other years.

Much less talk in the media and among the general public. And that's understandable, the All-Ireland is basically rigged to benefit one team and people don't want to watch something so clearly uncompetitive.

I suppose if you’re from a county outside of Dublin or Kerry there wouldn’t be much hype. Dublin have managed the media platform really well playing down the 5 in a row. Tickets are scarce as always, it if it suits someone’s agenda to say otherwise so be it. Contrary to the naysayers this will be close. Kerry won’t just want a day out in Croker. Anyway off to look for a ticket!!!!

Or if you're from those counties.

Glad you agree there's less media attention. Sadly though that's just because there is less interest.

Tickets aren't as scarce as previous comparable finals, never mind a Dublin- Kerry final where five in a row is at stake. Much easier to obtain than they would be if the game wasn't destroyed as a competitive proposition.

It won't be close- 8 point minimum winning margin for Dublin.

    Where are these tickets?

For the first final in a while, most I know are struggling to get tickets or are waiting on the club.

Damn all hype about it in Dublin anyway.

Load of ppl seem oblivious to it - they’ve no interest.

Interest was lost long ago as everyone knows it how absurdly uncompetitive the championship has become.

Although I would be the first person to give a wry smile at seeing Jim Gavin and all the other fair weather fans smugness dealt a blow, for the good of the GAA it is going to take dublin winning on Sunday so that the problem cannot be ignored or brushed under the carpet any longer.
