Started watching this week. 4 episodes in already, love the music and the character development. Had an 8.4 on IMDB that lured me in, I know I still check it to see if i will give anything a lash!

Last two episodes have been very good. Nate is definitely keeping things interesting with his psychotic actions. Not sure what the deal is with Maddy and the woman she is babysitting for.

Its a very real look at what the modern young person is dealing with, its almost frightening , Zendaya is superb a good actress.

Is it though? Don't get me wrong, I like the show, but how much does it really relate to modern day 17/18 year olds?

I was wondering about her too. She's played by Minka Kelly, who used to be on Friday Night Lights. She's not exactly a huge star but for the two scenes she's been in so far I think they probably could have saved some money by casting a random actress. So I assume there's something more to come from that storyline.

I really loved the scenes between Nate and his mother this week. He really seemed to think his dad was his only problem and his mother was like, dude, we all hate you, you're a terrible person 😂 I don't feel sorry for him at all but it's interesting to see how his own family interact with him. I'm still waiting to find out what happened to that third child from the family photo too.

Id say the drug taking may not be as bad in Ireland but in the states id say its faily bad as its more accessable NO?

I think Euphoria takes everything to extremes. All the issues they deal with are real things that real teens are living with, but Levinson turns the dial way up on them all. I think it's an interesting way of framing Rue's problems which seem almost mundane in comparison, and yet her character is the most grounded in reality, and she's more relatable than any of the rest of them, I think.

If you've seen his film Assassination Nation, it does the same thing. I think the premise is basically that someone's phone gets hacked and pictures get posted on the internet, resulting in some big secrets getting out around this small town. The way it plays out after that is the most extreme option for every resulting problem and reaction. It's not unbelievable in what happens but its constantly pushing things to the most extreme point while still being plausible.

its a good program to watch for parents, to see the extreme. therefore they can look for the signs in their children maybe maybe not?

Hopefully she is not going to take advantage of Maddy. it seemed weird swimming with your babysitter. There is enough irresponsible adults in this show. Also I would say the storyline related to have a teenager with addiction problem seems realistic.

Yeah, the first scene she had with Maddie she was a bit touchy with her, definitely gave me weird vibes.

I remember from S1 Maddie had a thing about getting rich and living comfortably with minimal effort, so maybe she's going to do something stupid there. The way she's been trying on her clothes and jewelry and what not. There's only a few episodes left this season so maybe they're setting something up for S3? 4 eps doesn't feel like enough time to do something worthwhile there.

I'm pretty sure they were showing us that when Maddie was trying on the clothes she was being recorded without her knowledge, looked like an alarm clock that had a camera? They brought up Jules being recorded without her knowledge in this episode, I doubt that's a coincidence. I imagine Maddie will have the footage used against her somehow?

I forgot about the alarm click, I do remember that scene where it zoomed in on it for no apparent reason. Wasn't there a storyline in S1 with Kat and one of the guys who was paying her for whatever it was she was doing on camera. I wonder if they're circling back to that.

Las Two episodes have been superb from Zendaya.

I see lots of people speculating that Ashtray is the missing kid from the Jacobson family portrait. Can't see a family like that just being down one kid all of a sudden and nobody asking questions 😄

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,139 ✭✭✭✭sammyjo90

So like some junkie kidnapped him and left him with nana until she could pay her?

    Don't buy it 🤣

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,926 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

I just assumed people thought Nate's mother was using and left him, which makes zero sense. The kidnapped by a junkie theory makes slightly more sense 😄

I thought Nate was the smallest child in the family photo though, so I thought the missing kid was the oldest or middle child.

I'm confused with what they've done with Kat this season. After becoming a bit of a bitch last year before being brought back down to Earth by Maddy, they've seemingly set out to destroy her character this year? What a completely bizarre attempted breakup with Ethan.

They've also seemingly forgotten about Nate's apparent sexuality confusion? All the dick pics on his phone were never explained.

Apart from Rue's story I feel like nothing has really been continued from S1.

I saw some rumours that the actress who plays Kat has some disagreements with Sam Levinson about her storylines this season, which resulted in him cutting lots of her scenes. I don't know if that's true, but she's definitely had barley any screen time this season. And yeah, her break up scene was bizarre. It was funny, but made zero sense for the character. And wasn't there a thread of her camera girl storyline left hanging from S1 too? Like someone was watching her, or someone who knew her was watching? I can't remember but there was definitely something.

Not sure of how true it is but apparently she had a massive falling out with Sam Levinson about her characters upcoming storyline (eating disorder) and didn't want to go down that route. Might explain why she seems to be sidelined.

I did think her scene earlier in the season with the social media influencers and their toxic positivity messages was excellently done.

Yeah she wasnt at the premiere either so there is probably something to those rumours. Would explain the lack of story for her anyway.

This week's episode was a lot of fun. Lexi's play wasn't anywhere near as scandalous as people were expecting, but it's more in keeping with her character to have it play out as it did.

What a great final shot too. I have no idea what's been happening all season but I'm very excited for the finale next week

I guess it's just the nature of TV drama to overplay social themes of the day. Drama is drama. Try watching the soaps sometime 😉

Oh I know that's Euphoria's whole thing, go big or go home, but a lot of this season felt like filler. It's slightly annoying that Levinson put so many more interesting things into Lexi's play than he put into the actual series. But again that's Euphoria for you.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,926 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

I dunno, looked a bit too obvious in the promo. Maybe it's AshTray that gets killed, or they both just get arrested? I'm pretty sure Fez was supposed to die in S1, so Levinson had no long term plans for the character, which means it wouldn't be surprising if he did kill him off.

Has everyone forgotten that Rue owes a scary drug dealer $10k?

Loved that episode! I needed it after the last few exhausting ones!

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,926 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

More on the talk of there being problems between Levinson and some of the cast, Barbie Ferreira in particular.

It's wild that Sydney Sweeny apparently said no to several nude scenes and there's still been that many this season. Worse too people are praising Levinson for not forcing them to do things they didn't want.

Weird story too that apparently the actress who plays Faye was cast after she played Jules in a porn parody of Euphoria. Just some very questionable stories surrounding this whole season.

The opening of episode 8 with Cassie going off was hysterical 🤣

Yeah great season. Probably not a good idea to be caught holding a knife at a crime scene! It's unfortunate if it's true that the Show runner is a creep as really want to know what happens next
