Worry if they get this game in the bag before half time, they’ll switch off.

I think getting turned over twice between tries 1 and 2 will guard against that.

    Lowry is brilliant.

That’s some lovely offloading between forwards and backs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,454 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

Right. Get Coetzee off. Even if we subsequently win by one point, it's worth getting Marcel off.

    Ulster should hit 50 here

Lowry have a cracking game...some nice touches from McIlroy as well.

Matthewson controlling things nicely from 9 and Coetzee just doing Coetzee things.

Greg Jones has done well, he has had some good carries.

Are you his dad? Lol always flying his flag!

In fairness he has, Murphy still getting hammered backwards carrying.

Yeah. With the exception of MC, there's no benefit taking anyone on the first fifteen off.let Jones, McIlroy, Johnston get more experience. Bring O'Connor Jr on.

    I'm not that old!

I just think he is underrated...he carries really hard and usually makes good yards...he's no Stephen Ferris mind

Having Coetzee for these games is a cheat code. What has happened to Jordi Murphy? He looks to be in terrible shape, physically out of his depth against this Zebre team.

Blindside is there for the taking, be very happy if he keeps improving and provide some competition.

Its a shame we don't have someone like McCann, Finlay or Sexton on the bench.

It is. Although Sexton's not much younger than McIlroy, in fairness.

    Jordi Murphy weakest backrow. Again.

Really is Isn’t it! As the game opens up would of really suited McCann and Sexton.

Curious to see where lyttle comes on?

Hopefully for Gilroy...although Gilroy is having his best game in a while

Ulster switched off for a couple of minutes there

Aye get Coetzee off, his work is done.

Big 25 minutes for McBurney after another accomplished shift from Andrew.

    Four tries for Coetzee...

Why is Coetzee still on the pitch it’s 45-14 get the man off

That was a brilliant defensive intervention from Lowry

    Knock on!

He might as well go off as Whitehouse appears to have decided to give Zebre the sympathy card. This will become a 15 minute defensive set now. May even get a wee YC as well

Wonder how Carter ever cut it a international level

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,793 ✭✭✭✭bilston

    Nice finish by McIlroy

Wee Dave and his lovely support line!

Not the most challenging of games, but Ulster’s handling and offloading was crisp.

Thought Johnston had a good game and looks keen on defence.

Would like to see a little more of Jones, still think he’s still maybe a little light but be good for him to put some pressure on Rea.

I'd love to see Lowry given a chance against Georgia...I know it won't happen (he's not even in the squad), but he just gets better with every game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,454 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

I know it's only Zebre, but Lowry is genuinely brilliant. Skilful, fast, decisive, not afraid to carry into contact despite his size. If he keep delivering as he is, he'd be worth an Ireland call up, at least to the wider squad.

I'm starting to suspect that that was looked at as an opportunity for us to try some stuff out - for example, the splintering maul with Coetzee lunging through the middle. Trimble made reference to the fact that we organised the two second half maul attempts that went nowhere differently to the first that got us our points - trying to move very, very quickly rather than setting first. I wondered if we had Coetzee there to basically run practice for him to do that against bigger teams. Would explain his inclusion.

I didn't think Johnston was great, but he's barely played since last season restarted.

Gilroy slowly getting back up to speed (did he go to 15 when Lowry went off?)

McIlroy looks good. O'Sullivan was excellent. Jones was pretty good.

Murphy looks physically shot. Not fast enough, not strong enough. ReaJea should leapfrog him this season.

The points totals for our conference are ridiculous.
