Not the only reason, but it's the fact that he repeatedly makes terrible decisions and mistakes when under pressure that leads to the criticism.

And that the reason we have the “debate “ every year over whether he or a clearly superior shot stopper and commanding keeper is due to Hennellys perceived excellence from kickouts

Can’t do it under pressure . It’s so frustrating that we are having this conversation again
The Dublin game should have ended it and a new keeper should have been given a Runout to audition for number two to Clarke

So kickout's are the reason we couldn't tag on a score in injury-time? Hennelly to blame because Boland shot instead of taking the mark or Irwin turned over the ball when all we had to do was hold on to it. Amazing the goalie always the scapegoat

You have quite pointed out he was not the sole contributory factor but there's no doubt he'd a very uncomfortable afternoon,in particular second half.

I think km79 can feel pretty vindicated in his strong assertion that this game was an ideal opportunity to start an alternative goalkeeper to the perceived number one and two keepers in the county.

TBH it's high time a successor to our two long term servants was at least groomed.

Our perennial naivety in defending a six point lead was depressing. It was like groundhog day revisited.

The performances of Padraig O Hora, Brian Walsh,Jordan Flynn and Tom Parsons were positives and the ever green Colm Boyle proved the catalyst for our golden spell.

Wouldn't be as doom and gloom about it as some on here. Thought there were some good performances from a few individuals and the quality and accuracy of the passing was very good. I'd agree that we need to find a new goal keeper though. That and finding a specialised full back should have been the aim. But then I'm not privy to what scouring Horan has been doing around the county on that front. Options might not be there.

Performances by Jordan Flynn Padraig O'Hora and Tom Parsons all positives for the evening. I'd be optimistic about Jordan Flynn in particular. Temperament seems to have improved since his U21 days.

Paddy Durcan the captain today. Is that for the year, I wonder. Not sure he needed to play today though tbh. The man has played a lot of football the last few months. Though I can see that Horan wants to mix it up with experience and newcomers.

I'd say we'll be well into the league before we see the likes of Aidan O'Shea or Cillian back in the mix.

Going by instagram, Aido is still in Vietnam and Cillian is only back from Australia

Conflicting reports-I heard the rumour, then was told it wasn’t true and then that it was true. Until I hear differently or it turns out he has been dropped I’m assuming it’s just rubbish.

Also heard the rumour. I think he was playing college ball last weekend so will be interesting to see if he is involved v Donegal. I see Horan has brought back Noel Howley as player welfare officer. Timing interesting there

Unfortunately have heard same. Didn't want to say anything as I wasnt sure was it true, but seems it might be. Shame as he has potential. Will probably become clear in the next couple of weeks if he's involved in upcoming league matches.

I teach in the east of the country and a GAA parent said it to me about Fionn McDonagh so it has travelled outside the county at any rate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,153 ✭✭✭✭km79

Can someone pm me what they heard.
That would be a huge blow

  • Registered Users Posts: 811 ✭✭✭RedDevil55

Any chance someone could pm me the same? I live outside the county and haven't heard anything.

We've had our share of bullsh1t rumours the last few years so hopefully this is similar...

I live in Meath and heard the same in work today. They say bad news travels fast so wouldnt take much notice

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,534 ✭✭✭SomethingElse

    Could someone PM me also?

His departure will be a huge blow if it turns out to be the case. He was one of the shining lights last year.

Under 20s are out on Saturday at 14.00 against Donegal in Mac Hale Park.

A place in Leo Murphy Cup final at stake.

Rumour is similar issue that occurred with another promising young player last year.
    Fcking idiot if true

That's what I heard. You'd think these college kids involved in Sigerson would have more cop.

    Sign of the times unfortunately.

    Hopefully untrue.

What is it with Mayo GAA. The rumour mill never stops.

Definitely in the extended training at present. He's been given a chance so now up to him to take it.

If rumours about the other lad are true then we won't be seeing him for this campaign.
