It was a tongue in cheek comment. Apologies, I thought that was obvious.

Seems to be a bit of a drive to remind people to renew season tickets running up to the deadline. Wonder is it a sign that some people are not renewing as I don't remember this before? Good few of my acquaintances have said they're giving them up..

Same, I know a few who were pure cleaned out this year from going to matches :D

Looking to save for houses and stuff so just can't keep it up. I suppose it's been a very hectic few years of it, especially given all the back door runs and now super 8s.

Yeah, there's a few around these parts not renewing this year. Cant' believe this is the 12th year renewing the season ticket

I definitely think there will be tickets available to purchase for the eagle eyed Mayo supporters who've long complained that year on year only renewals were available.

In other news it's a massive day on Saturday for Tooreen as they take on Father O Neill's of Cork in the All Ireland Intermediate Hurling Club semi final at 13.30 in O Connor Park Tullamore.

Fingers crossed for the east Mayo lads.

Saw a "Mayo 4 SAM" sign on the PDC darts tonight

A few years back I saw an "Up Kiltane" sign on it.

That area around the Ally Pally is full of the north Mayo crowd

    Happy new year to all.

Big blow for who? He'll still be playing for Westport I presume?

I'd have imagined he'd have had a good shot at the Mayo number 1 jersey into the future.

Just reading that, i didnt realise the eligibility rules were so loose? I mean, i thought it was just for designated weaker counties

He is eligible to play for Roscommon under the patronage rule as his mother is a native of Roscommon.

It's for lower population counties and Roscommon are included. That's how Conor Cox is eligible.

Yeah i think there are only 13 counties that can benefit from the rule. Both of Roscommon Keepers last year have left the panel one travelling one work related so he has a great shot of getting the number 1 jersey if he is any good. Which leads me to my next question. Is he any good?

Why? Not like he would have got much of look in with Mayo seniors for the year ahead while the rossies are on the look out for a number 1 with two keepers from last year unavailable. Has a Roscommon connection with his mom from there I believe.

Can he switch back to his county of birth in future if he wants?

Yes he could. Anyone playing club football in Mayo is eligible for the county team.

Ah well no harm done so. We can use Roscommon as a sort of B team :p

GAA rules makes no mention of population. Parentage rule seems to be open to every county.
    A player shall be considered
to have an ‘Other Relevant Connection’:
    (a) With a particular County if:
    (i) The player’s parents at the time of the
member’s birth were permanently resident in
    that County.
(ii) That County is the County of the first Club of either of his parents.
    (b) With a Particular Club if:
    (i) The player’s parents were at the time of his birth
permanently resident in the present Catchment
    Area of that Club.
(ii) In the case of a player whose parents were
permanently resident in Co. Dublin at the time
of this birth, that Club was the First Club of
    either of his parents.
(iii) County Bye-Laws either defined generally or for
specific cases that particular factors give rise to
    such a connection

This is the rule I was talking about...

    https://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/colm-keys-how-coxs-roscommon-switch-and-parentage-rule-could-spark-new-era-of-intercounty-transfers-38232795.html

Colm Keys said it's open to 14 counties. It's not strictly down to population as Wicklow and Tipperary are 2 of the counties.
