Proper snow in Tallaght. Where’d this come from. Never even heard of snow supposed to arrive. Lashed rain like 2 hours ago.

Knew the chance of some snow, but to get a whiteout is a suprise. March seems to be the go to month for proper snow on the East coast

I can't even remember the last time I saw rain turn to snow its been so many years now. It might have been as long ago as the end of Feb 2001?
The charts may be showing nothing but zonal muck right now but I have a feeling that this month has more surprises to come. :)
The temp was 2c about 15 mins ago but is now down to 0.7c.

I think the myth of 'the ground being too warm for snow to stick' can now be put to bed!
Has anyone said yet - "you'd know its snowing in Dublin"

Heavy wet snow in Kinnegad since about 2pm it is turning the ground white but I’m not too sure it’s going to hang around too long :D

Snowing big thick flakes in D13. Is this due to continue overnight? Could we be looking at school / work closures?

Nice bit of snow on the ground now in the Kimmage/Crumlin area. Hope it keeps it up! Very exciting :D

This also proves no matter how wet the ground is, snow will stick if conditions are right (although this will probably melt very quickly because of how slushy it is).
