I'll let you know how I fair, 35 shortly. Wife is determined to wear it to nothing anyway.

Indeed. It can go on for days sometimes. That's a serious commitment.

How about all my sisters in law - 6 of them - are over 40, heck they are mostly over 45, and they are, to a woman, really gorgeous. A group photo of them is Cosmo levels of cuteness. Have no idea where this falling off a cliff after 30 came from? A certain percentage of people pre 30 are really good looking, a certain percentage of people after 30 are really attractive, both sexes, pre 30 people have some advantage in youth but it's not like they are champions of the game of life to be fresh and pretty pre 30. The champions start emerging post 30 when people get the face that reflects their life and personality and the amount of kicks in the arse life saw fit to dole out.

As the saying goes horses for courses. :D

For me if I was available I would prefer to date women in and around my own age basically because we would hopefully want the same things at this stage of life. Where as dating a younger person, yes great for the ego and I'm sure lots of fun but the thoughts of going out clubbing and drinking would put me off. :D

Definitely agree about the post thirty thing. I'm 35 and how some people have aged since school is scary!

Wait till you're 50 and you meet some contemporaries who look like your haggard old uncle or auntie. Sleep, kids, get enough of it! And for jaysis sake take it handy on the fags.

Great of the auld ego when you see someone you went to school with and time hasn't been good to them. Makes ya appreciate that you are aging gracefully. :)

I just meant in relation to this post which you quoted:

"How many 39-year-olds are as hot as a fit 23-year-old? How many have the same stamina in bed? How many are going to want the same life experiences as a 23-year-old? You'd have to offer something pretty damn special to make up for being so old."

That exact thing gets said to women here constantly.

I’d prefer flirty back-and-forth ribbing to the direct approach myself. It’s much more fun and I’d have to disagree that it’s not a transparent way of expressing interest. I think it’s pretty easy to decipher when the person who is slagging you is interested or not. Body language and eye contact give it away. I think I was always able to pick up when a guy would be slagging me in just a friendly way and wasn’t interested in me in a sexual or romantic way. There are so many tells.

Some girls flirt all the time with everyone or give that appearance. Some appear not to flirt at at all. Some flirt so they can make fun of the guy when he asks her out. Have seen it all.

There was some study I read where they showed groups of people a man and a woman on a date and men and women both could tell if the guy liked the girl but neither sex could tell if the girl liked the guy.

Regarding the PUA stuff. I read a few books on the subject and picked up a few tips here and there. One doesn't need to dive in and start running pre scripted routines. Now being a tall sexy fukcer was a bigger help!

Can you explain how women have it better?

I already replied to this by my comment seems to have disappeared. How odd...

    Anyway, let's try again

Women are celebrated merely for the gender and yet they are oppressed

Women have all the rights men do in Ireland, yet they are oppressed

Women will never be expected to do the ****ty dangerous jobs that men do to keep society functioning. In fact we will soon have gender quotas for women, but only in well paid jobs like in academia

Women are paid the same as men yet we are constantly hammered with fake wage gap propaganda

    And on and on.

I'm not saying women don't have their issues in society, but really, how can anyone say with a straight face that women are oppressed or mistreated in Ireland, or any first world nation.

A certain cohort of men positively salivate at the idea of women's declining fertility and take an almost sexual pleasure from smugly inferring it means her value, worth, attractiveness and romantic options decline too. Because they knew this woman this one time and then there's Tina who was hot in secondary school and now is not haha and something about cats, and other such well-informed, well researched arguments.

Usually the type who've been brewing misogynistic ideas about women for decades (because Tina rejected them in Junior Cert and their luck has been about the same ever since) and now is their chance to get away with saying all these things aloud because BIOLOGY LOL.

Yes. Another favourite is the idea that any woman who is single after 30 has rejected every man who has ever approached her because she thinks she's too good for them all. No recognition of the fact that relationships break down and plenty of people end up single after years-long relationships in their thirties and often through no fault of their own. In fact, it can often be as a result of loyalty and clinging on to long rather than moving on and dating around. I know quite a few women who stayed with men who weren't treating them well out of a sense of loyalty, only to get dumped in the end anyway.

If you have such a poor view of women in general why would you want to be with one in a relationship? I'm going to guess regular sex but part from that? I work in a male dominated industry and I can assure you I don't receive any plaudits merely for being female. If anything you need to work twice as hard to be heard, I've had male (mostly junior) colleagues speak over me at meetings, as if I wasn't there. A female colleague has had men refuse to work with her because she is a woman. This isn't unusual, when I canvassed friends on it recently they all had similar stories to tell. But you know what, none of us complain, we put our heads down and get on with it. This idea that women are unquestionably celebrated on the basis of gender is wholly misguided. Oppression? No. But varying levels of unequal treatment, particularly in the workplace, yes.
