The best we could have hoped for. The easiest away game to start off and a winnable home tie against Racing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Why is the date and time of the away v Racing still TBC?

PSG play Monaco on the Sunday so think they might have to consider that. Ideally French love the Sunday rugby games.

Planning on bringing the young fellah down to see the Southern Kings match on October 5th. Anybody have any advice for me? I presume that there would be no problems picking up tickets at the gate?

    Thanks

No issue at all. They play in a 40k stadium and have 2 to 3k attendance on average

Last time the game was in George so munster folk haven't done a game in PE yet. With CJ being with Ireland, no reason to move it this time

I haven't been before, but I hear that PE is a lovely spot. Might take a few days after, to do a bit of touring!!

Man, I've no idea who said PE was lovely. The Garden route and surrounding area is nice, but don't spend too much time in the city.

Short term signings a possibility and Charlie Hodgson with the team for a couple of days as JvG continues to bring in specialists.

I don't see a need for short term signings. The injury profile of the senior squad is fine. The only position Munster may be short in is hooker with only KOB and Marshall but there's two academy players in that position.

Only short term position I could think of is if Klyne and Beirne both travels leaves just Holland and O'Shea in the senior squad.

Wycherley or SOC can play lock.

That's interesting. Given the flack Jones has taken over the last year i'd be curious to see how this plays out.

Flack from keyboard warriors, what a big up for him , he is talented, people always quick to point fingers .

Wouldnt it be gas if SA won the world cup and Felix working with them .

The flack for Munsters attack was deserved and came from people who watched Munster on a regular basis.

This is a great opportunity for him if true, but the criticism was from far more than ‘keyboard warriors’

    Munster A:
    Rob Hedderman (UCC); Matt Bowen (UCC), Louis Bruce (UCC), Alan Tynan (Academy), Jonathan Wren (Academy); Ben Healy (Academy), Jack Stafford (Academy);
James French (Academy), Scott Buckley (UCC) (C), Corrie Barrett (Garryowen); Kevin Seymour (Garryowen), Paddy Kelly (Academy); David Hyland (Cork Con), Jack Daly (Academy), Cian Hurley (Clonakilty).

    Replacements:
Eoghan Clarke (Academy), Aaron Hennessy (Nenagh Ormond), James Kendrick (Cashel), Conor Mitchell (Young Munster), Jack Crowley (Bandon), Pa Ryan (Shannon).

There's a lot more participants from the academy this weekend.

JVG and Larkham chatting about pre-season. SL wants to add some detail to our attack, saying that maybe not enough line breaks were created or players beaten one-on-one

    🤪

Indo reporting that Munster are looking to sign Jed Holloway, a versatile back five forward from the Waratahs, for World Cup cover.

If the reports are true and Munster will lose four back five forwards to Japan it makes sense to bring someone in.

    Were gonna need him now!

So during the RWC Munster are left with a 23 like the below:

    Cronin, Marshall, Archer, Holland, Wycherley, JOD, Cloete, Botha;
McCarthy, Bleyendaal, Sweetnam, Scannell, Goggin, Nash, Haley

KOB, LOC, Scott, DOS, TOD, Mathewson, JJH, Daly

IIRC Wootton is out injured until 2020. Open to correction...

On Holloway, on reflection I'm not sure that signing will get the green light. I would have thought RWC cover was the idea behind re-signing Arno Botha and there's still four senior locks and six backrow players remaining. Unless there are injuries in that group I'm not sure a RWC joker is needed.

Still, not bad at all considering the amount of guys we're missing. I was hoping that DoS would kick on into the first team this year.

I think Whooton is meant to be good to go for this season.

I hope he steps it up. He has looked good at times going forwards but Teddy Thomas made him look very weak defensively.

Yeah, he is so easy to tackle...........

This is how I’d see the squad shaping up without our World Cup players:
    1. Cronin, 17. Loughman, O’Connor
    2. Marshall, 16. O’Byrne
    3. Archer, 18. Scott, Parker, Knox
    4. O’Shea
    5. Holland, 19. Wycherley, O’Connor
    6. Botha, 20. Coombes
    7. O’Donnell, Cloete, Oliver
    8. O’Donoghue, O’Sullivan
    9. Mathewson, 21. Cronin, McCarthy, Casey, Stafford
    10. Hanrahan, 22. Bleyendaal
    11. Wootton, Coombes
    12. Scannell, Arnold
    13. Goggin, 23. Daly, McHenry
    14. Sweetnam, Nash
    15. Haley, Tynan

Not bad at all, Holland will probably captain, he's a great influence on the pitch.
You might want to swap Goggin and Arnold though :)
