I hear a lot of good about Delaney from any small clubs I have been to, but why is he hiding.

Because people are beginning to realise that him getting a club an astro actually isn't anything to celebrate in the greater scheme of things because the money is for that and if he hadn't done anything the same amount of money would still have been handed out just maybe to different clubs, so its grand from the pov of that specific club but for an FAI view if anything it's actually a negative if anything because he is getting involved in a process he isn't really meant to be involved in.

Confirmation of this story from O'Brien.

If the FAI were doing their job, there wouldn't be any need for criticism. Not being able to address
or even accept it isn't a good sign, especially considering the week they've had.

I hope that this whole thing is building up such a head of steam that it can't be stopped. I do feel that other members of the board will need to go. JD will be a good start.

He has played the well worn path of making people think he is doing them a favour.Coming to the club with a cheque for a pitch/dressing rooms etc .Presses the flesh and makes them all feel like he is their best mate.Classic politician routine.

In reality all he is doing his job but makes sure he is centre of it and will get the backing when votes are needed or his back is against the wall. Its government money he is using for most of these grants.

    He is Blatter lite.

But what exactly do the people want the CEO, and the board for that matter, of the FAI doing ?

    Fixing the LOI ?
Well that's a huge task and at the end who will judge what fixed looks like.

    Improve the national team ?
    How do you do that.

Develope infrastructure like pitches, floodlights and all weather surfaces ?
A lot of that done under Delaney but sure he was only doing his job.

So honestly what are people's wish list from a new CEO and/or board ?

A bit of transparancy for a start.
A group of people who aren't so fast to hide behind a legal team for seconds.
A clear and transparent set of goals and actions on how to reach those goals - and moving on from there.

Some things the current FAI are doing are perfectly fine - there shouldn't be a massive change in direction however it would be beneficial to support the national league of the country more and a continuation of investment into facilities and coaching for the "grassroots".
There should be something in there about increasing total income to match the rate at which GAA and the RFU have done over the past decade.

I think this will be interesting

It will give us a view into how deep support the the FAI/Delaney does or actually does not go.

How will he survive if he goes. Who’ll pay his rent? Should we send him a sleeping bag?

He probably made sure his contract is so iron clad that he can be fired for negligence and still get away with a massive golden handshake.

I wonder will we ever find out who covered the legal costs relating to the attempted injunction of the 100k story. I'm assuming the FAI and no doubt they were substantial.

If he is gone I wonder how many lads in the FAI who supported him will be wondering if they have jobs on Monday......added to that....How does it effect the great Stephan Kenny??

Will the FAI honour his contract or if Mick gets the team playing will they drop him with the excuse things have changed??

Considering it was Delaney himself taking the case surely it was him. Not short of a few bob if he can write a 100k cheque from a personal account.

Looks s like the other board members realised the have been had and hanging the 3 people out to dry. Can the director of corporate enforcement come after Delaney if he leaves?

Depends on what's in the contract I guess. He's not contracted to Delaney, it's to the FAI. If it does change....he'll be a wealthy man from it

Actully giving one **** about the LoI would be a start.

    Improve the national team ?
    How do you do that.
Start by nurturing young talent at home instead of hoping some club in UK will do it for us.Give the regional officers the tools they need to work ,there are officers who have had to beg for basic equipment ,bibs, footballs, cones etc.

Develope infrastructure like pitches, floodlights and all weather surfaces ?
A lot of that done under Delaney but sure he was only doing his job.
Deveolping infastructre is a must and work is done but it shouldnt mean you have to brown tongue the CEO if you want some money to lay a new pitch or get equipmet.

So honestly what are people's wish list from a new CEO and/or board ?

The FAI is a shambles and the lack of transparecy is shocking. The organisation being run as a fiefdom has to stop.
Speak out against the FAI and watch what happens. The meeting on Wednesday was a slap in the face to everyone who has even a passing interest in football.

Under Delaneys tenure, football has fallen way behind where it was in this country.Too many people happy to be yes men as long as they keep their nose in the trough.

Run the FAI in the best interests of the sport is all anyone can hope for,but imo that hasnt been the case in a long time ,if ever.Ther needs to be a clear plan set out and proper goverance going forward

I could list several other issues/**** up's but I dont want boards getting a solicitors letter on monday.

Well paid....but not as stupidly paid as JD. Small fixed amount and the rest performance related. Very simple but effective stuff.

I disagree. I'd pay his successor the exact same (minus the rent)

For me the problem with Delaney's salary isn't the amount. It's the value football in this country was getting for it.

The next CEO has a huge job on their hands and any potential candidate knows that. They also know how much the previous incumbent was getting for not doing the job well. Paying a small fixed amount won't attract the right candidate.

Go out and get the best CEO possible for a fixed term contract of three years. Root and branch reforms etc. Then reduce the salary when advertising the role at the end of the three years.

    Cheers thanks.

But ive no idea who you are.

Itll be interesting to see if quinn kerr et al have done their lobbying behind the scenes to get in.

Also be interesting to see if delaney stays with His UEFA position.

UEFA rules dont allow it if he goes

I would approach it differently. Small basic with performance bonuses....allowing the CEO to earn more than JD if certain goals are reached.

Added to that it will take at least 5-10 years to get the Irish game/FAI sorted....wont be an overnight job.

He keeps it until the term comes to an end which I think is 2021....without the right position in a national organisation he will not be able to be re-elected.

However UEFA may make him resign directly...they did it with the German FA lad a few weeks ago.
