yeah the idea that 120k motorists travelling to dublin by car = 120k voters who are desperate to continue doing so is a total nonsense

A few more carriages on each train would make a huge difference
    As would more buses
    And get a metro built

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,653 ✭✭✭✭Plumbthedepths

havent i seen you rep hard for sf?
No you haven't but accuse someone of a lie and watch them deny it is an old trick.
    i mean, forgive me but....
I only forgive someone who makes a genuine mistake. Yours was calculated.

the idea of getting jobs out of dublin still seems strangely tainted by the decentralisation debacle and the idea that dublin is a magic tech hub

so much of whats wrong with dublin and the country starts with the lack of options anywhere else

im not sure ive seen anyone really stand on this issue, but its prob one for general election tbf

Hopefully there’s a record of all those voting green, so when the carbon tax increases come along ye can all pay it yourselves and leave the rest of us alone ;)

10 minutes this morning at a bus stop waiting for a bus, it shows up but is only going as far as the city centre (no word of this on RTPI) next bus is in 25 minutes I'd have been home in 20 minutes if I was driving, instead I'm waiting 35 just to start a bus journey

No amount of funding is going to change this carry one, we built around the car because at least it works.

The Greens are the living breathing embodiment of well meaning tyrants (those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

I am really not sure why you are blaming the greens for the bus service here.

Sometimes the car works. We built around the car because it was easy and required less government investment. Monday morning commuter traffic is showing the flaws of the car as well.

Weekend with little traffic, feel free to take the car. No one is saying no car journeys ever. However if we cut down on them we can affect the environment and stop us having to wait in traffic for quite so long.

The tyrant comment is amusing though.

it was an honest mistake and apologies for that if not the case.

plenty of calculated behaviour and politicking on these boards and everywhere else, none of us are what id call innocent of it in the cut and thrust but i wouldn't like to mislabel someone in error so, genuinely- my bad

I'll be happy to pay a bit extra.
FG have buried this issue for the last 10 years.

If it forces me and others to change our heating systems on our house then it has to be done

If it means getting electric cars, then great once I know I'll be able to charge it

Surely the popular green vote is more down to the following than envirnmental issues:-

    1. Dislike for the main parties FG/FF

    2. Lack of real alternative SF, PFP etc promise to deliver on everything without any real clarity on how and also their preference for spongers rather than workers

    3. The quality of candidates, i.e. the particularly likeable Saoirse McHugh.

I'm not sure the result has much to actually do with the Green Party as bizarre as it may sound.

It’s only an issue if you care, I’m sure I’m not the only one who is completely apatethic to this climate hysteria.

I will treble my pollution efforts to offset.

Waste oil Iv had sitting a few years going down the drain.
    Meat eating will double
Taps will run around the clock

    Etc etc

Despite the fact you say it was an honest mistake and then say 'if not the case' . There is nothing but dishonesty in your posting. My comments are available for anyone to search including you, I have never 'reped' for SF.
Pathetic behaviour tbh, but not surprised giving your own leanings.

You don't need to apologize to random internet people

They may have a longer life span as a result so it won't bother them too much.

A longer life span for paying more carbon taxes? I’ve heard it all now

Exactly my thoughts and why I gave McHugh number 1.

    Truly an absurd argument.

Anyway moving on the Sinn Fein are spending a lot of time this morning attempting to suggest things are not as bad as they are for them. The Greens have shot their fox.

Do you think the environment is in need of being protected?

If Yes, please say how do you think it should be done?
If No, you don't need to say any more.

I am 99.8% sure you are deliberately talking nonsense.

But, if that 0.2% is actually the case and you are not, why would you behave in this way?

No - as I said I could not care less. I have finite time in this world, what happened before or happens after me is irrelevant.

Some people just have a mad hang up on the Green Party, but it obviously seems to be going against the tide of popular opinion.

I was quite off on the 90 days then

If a GE seems imminent you don't run the by election basically. But if the GE doesn't happen, someone will take a court case over it so it's a very dangerous game to play

My prediction for what it is worth is that 6 months will bring us close enough to the next budget. Or at least the FF/FG "discussions" on a budget, where one or other will pull out off and there will be a GE so no bye elections.

With the swing towards the greens how will the public react to the re introduction of water charges scheduled for July 1st of this year.
