"Caught" that first episode and ... uh. It's ok. Good enough but hardly transcendental. As pilots go it doled out its info with little exposition, which was good, but too soon to make any firm judgements. But with wealth of TV options out there, it'll get a much longer rope by dint of it being Star Wars. And that's the trick; were it not for that universe, I wonder if I'd be even bothered to keep going: at 38 minutes though, it hardly outstayed its welcome.

Really not sold on our main character remaining helmeted though. It's obviously a thing with the Mandalorians, but as a basic element of storytelling, the inability to read the protagonists face is jarring and irritating. A whole season of being unable to see him emote could get old.

One little detail I really liked, was the juddering each time the droid moved. Really sold its physicality which you don't always get with CGI.

Forgot the droid is voiced by Taika Waititi.

Plus it’s not dead according to twitter. It’s in other scenes in the trailers that werent in the episode.

Mandalorians don't stay permanently helmeted from what I've seen in the animated series. Closest I've seen to a helmet rule is with the first order in the latest series where they made it sound like their troopers have to earn the right to take their helmets off.

He’s already caused a whole new stir.

    IG11 v K2SO

    K2 was way way funnier.

This is probably the case but they probably built that into how they developed the narrative. You can take a slower burn approach to building the season when you know the majority of the audience is going to stick it out for a few episodes.

Such a mad time. A Star Wars tv series to numb the pain in the final countdown to the release of the last Star Wars saga film. And the final episode is on the week after the films release.

I want to speculate responsibly but this isn’t accidental. We’re probably going to see some significant story crossover/connection. . Especially given the first order/kylo theme is played in that first episode. And as it makes pure business sense to them to promote their channel ultimately.
Can’t imagine what it will be but that’s their job I suppose.

Your regular reminder that it isn’t ‘angry Star Wars fans’. Just that the fandom has been infested and the franchise co opted by alt right lunatics who hate everyone that isn’t them.
They’re actually getting worse and more laughable.

One thing going against that idea is this is seemingly set not long after RotJ, so the time between that and the next film is a huge gap.

Thought it was grand. Not bad. Not grand. But definitely watchable.

Edit 1: not bad, not good

Edit 2: maybe I could be a porn star!

Well palatines operation cinder looks like it’s still in operation (plans in the event of his death) and Herzog n co are definitely imperial. And we’re getting Palpatine back obviously so there more than likely is something we just don’t know yet

Lads. Beware. TMZ has spoiled all the details from episode 2 and 3
Pretty sure there’s a press embargo on this stuff. Can’t see Disney taking this lying down.

This show takes place 3 years after ROTJ, so any First Order plot points would need to happen a few seasons into the show and would feel super forced if Disney were to try to shoe horn it in to season 1.

Is it not 5 or 7 years? Not forced if you’re following the books an stuff. They’ve been weaving all this together since the new canon began. The latest one Resistance reborn ties all the books up and leads to Rise of Skywalker. Haven’t managed to read it yet.
And it’s favreau and Filoni making this. They know what they’re doing. Powerhouse filmmaker am Lucas’ chosen heir to the throne. They’ll probably find a way to do it that even causal fans will probably barely notice.

Seem's its 5 years after ROTJ so 25 before the Force Awakens. I hope your right as this is the first time we get to see what happened after the Empires defeat at the battle of Endor.

I don’t remember the specifics but Palpatines big plan in case of his death had all kinds of features. He was experimenting with force sensitive kids (the asset in the mando could be one)
And obviously that hidden fleet we see in the trailer. There was a lot more to it too.
They’ll definitely strap it all in and the tv show is better able to do that than the film. But could be wrong too. Filoni is involved. Anything is possible.

I'd be very surprised if this stays parallel with the films. Maybe some hints or name dropping, but full of "synergy" as the phrasing goes would be a surprise. The MCU didn't do (albeit for various non narrative reasons), and it's a tricky needle to thread 2 utterly disparate writing and production teams.

I’d agree except jj didn’t really consult the Lucasfilm star wars story group on TFA but depended on the art department for blue sky ideas for creative input. And was criticized harshly and rightly in house for it. Apparently he’s not making that mistake this time.

The shot with all the thousands of ships including the ghost from rebels and the colossus from resistance an many more deep cuts backs that up.
And his insistence he’s tying it all together. They have a channel to push that according to Iger won’t be profitable for seven years.
They’re gonna do everything they can to make this huge

If they can manage the animated series into canon.. this should be fine I reckon.

Clone wars is just so brilliant. Rebels is great but not as good. That Ashoka Vader showdown aside. I don’t know resistance.

Resistance feels like it's still finding it's feet for overall plot but they are there serparate to that getting the team and crew bond going. They're working it up. To what though..
