Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What year did you apply and what OOM are you ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 GLdeC

Here we go again! I'm from 2017 campaign, OOM early 600's. Finished everything since May. If I get in this one I would be very surprised as I was told my vetting will take some time due to family members leaving abroad.

Where abroad do your family members live ?

It's probably still better than having relations in the UK that's what's holding my vetting up. I'm from June 2017 and OOM 66

June 17 late 400s. Everything done since July just waiting on the vetting 🙄

I'm in the exact same boat pal but low 300s. Good to see there's still places free on Oct 22nd intake and ppl getting offered every few days so you just never know. Keep the faith. Lady in the office said they have in the past offred places on the Friday before the induction.

I rang HRM yesterday and they said there’s still a few offers to go out but that my vetting was still outstanding. She did say it could come back at anytime and that I might get an offer but I think she was being nice ha! Have you rang recently about your vetting?

  • Registered Users Posts: 148 ✭✭droptheworld

Rang HRM today and my vetting has cleared. I’m just waiting on a retest for the push pull as I failed that. My 3 months is up in November so hopefully I’ll get it done before Christmas in hope for an offer in January. Here’s hoping!

  • Registered Users Posts: 87 ✭✭Hoopy1888

22nd Intake was full as on Monday just gone according to HRM.

They said there is definetly another one after the new year but wasn't sure of the date.

Going by previous years, when do we think it will start??

Second and third week of January I'd guess, much like this one and July.

I rang hrm today to ask about my status, I'm from 2017june campaign, oom low 40s. My vetting is done and file is now with senior management. I was told that inductions start 14 jan, and the actual start date will be 28.

I’m thinking/hoping the 14th of December. The buddies father in law does the first aid for the induction weeks. He’s booked in for those weeks.

Happy days! Let's hope my vetting is cleared for then. Wonder is there many 2016 left waiting.

Has anyone called HRM lately to enquire about the vetting? I rang them a few days ago and they told me the system was down, so I got no answer.

We've another 6 weeks to wait for the next offers to go out anyway so fingers crossed the vetting will be back in that time! I wouldn't put big money on it though :-\

You're a step closer than I am so. Surely you'll be in the next intake if they just have to sign you off. When did u do the fitness?

I'd say next offers will be out second week of December and before Christmas. What is holding your vetting? Best of luck to you anyway.

I actually got a call from my local sergeant yesterday to come in for the chat. And my garda friend was contacted to provide his reference to HRM. So things seem to be progressing for me.

Jesus! Any idea what the hold up was and if he had to repeat the physical because it expired after 12 months?

I just gleaned this from another thread, I think it was the 2016 applicants thread. Vetting is what held him up according to the thread.

My OOM is in the 60s but I have to do the Irish test and have a large family living in 3 countries so I'm anticipating a long wait. Just going to enjoy life in the meantime.

As for repeating the physical...is that really a big deal if you pass it the first time? Surely people wouldn't want to get fat and unfit the minute they pass the physical.😋

You're certainly progressing quickly. The earliest intake we are eligible for is the second quarter of 2019, so if we're lucky we're looking at the April intake.

Ah God, I'm sorry to hear that lad. I was wondering how yoi were getting on. Are you going to appeal it? What did they say?

Yeah been low-key on here as assessing my options. Final informal appeal is over. Decision still stands. Which by itself is ridiculous. But spoke with a local TD and said he can't do anything as its final, however he will look into it.

No one says it on here, but once they say no they won't go back on it.

I'm honestly so disappointed I went to serious lengths at each stage, learned a shed load of Irish for PAS examination, wasted countless hours in touch with them, attending tests for medicals, physicals, meeting people, interviews.

The reason given, isn't family, isnt stuff on pulse about me as I have no convictions etc.. never even had a penently point! But it was one report from pretty much one person and it's all over. Literally, two people advised they I be hired as trainee and still I was rejected.

As usual, even though I am gone, I'm willing to advise anyone in similar circumstances on here on the process. But I will be honest, it's a bit of box ticking exercise.

Ah gutted for you. Really sorry to hear that. There was a sergeant at one of the open days who said he makes an effort to investigate anything in a file that stands out to him, so that he can give a person a decent and fair chance. He said there are plenty who don't bother. Really sorry lad. They left you hanging in limbo long enough too.
