Sure if you want all that and house then pay for it.

Want a free house well then you and your family will have to make sacrifices like everyone else

Also bad form referencing a war torn country

I am paying and I dont want a free house, never have never will ,

I must be mistaken But I taught this was about affordable housing my mistake give all the freeloadin dole sucking workshy basta*ds a free house, have runts like Cash and her ilk housed for free and leave the working poor rotting in B&Bs.

Theres a reason why there's plenty of houses available in certain rural areas but no doubt a genius like you will know what they are. Your umbrage on behalf of the people of Syria is touching I will expect a strongly worded letter .

Like I said to another poster, if your kids are on the streets and in emergency accommodation, do you not think that getting a roof over their head would be your number one priority - regardless if that house is in Douglas, Dunsink or Doolin.

There seems to be a sense that certain people are entitled to a house in Dublin, and that it has to be close to the kids school, as if there are no schools in Doolin for instance.

Talk to anyone over the age of 70 and they will describe how they were brought up with 7+ people in a two bedroom house with no central heating or electricity and see how they got on with their life, and help to build Ireland over the last 20/30 years. Instead today we have money grabbers who are bleeding the tax payers of money and we have the media or love this stories as it's an agenda to attack the government.

Well no because there people are being housed in emergency accommodation and sure if they accepted an offer like that then they would never be able to moan again or will miss a chance to go somewhere in Dublin.

They'll happily wait it out and moan until something comes up in Dublin in years to come

    And they are welcome to.

They just shouldn't be allowed to do that with their kids.

Free forever homes to be made available in next budget. Only if you are wealthy though not for regular plebs.

The Irish Examiner understands the Government will confirm tomorrow that landlords will be given 100% mortgage interest relief on any loan used to pay for a rental property from next year.

So someone who is in business of property rental is now going to be treated the same as every other business in the state, and be allowed include interest as a deductible expense?

Some seriously shoddy journalism to be trying to whip up some outrage over landlords *finally* being treated the same as any other business.

"They're in their hotel room, B&B room, they’re not able to mix with anybody else, they can’t have people come in for a game on the play station, knock for their friends. Basically, their whole childhood is gone."

I'm not even sorry to say this but this quote boils my blood and actually makes me quiet angry. Who's f**king fault is that then cash? It's hardly the p0xy governments, they didn't have 7 children, they didn't force you to have them, you had the children so you needed to plan accordingly for them but as your history shows you did not and at this current junction the tax payer is paying for your children.

Ill say this categorically and I hope she reads this.....

This is the age of entitlement, of state dependency, of do nothing to further yourself but then expect the taxpayer to support you, often to a higher standard than they have themselves, of irresponsibility and windbaggery from those using the situation to keep themselves elected.

Of course there are problems, of course there are genuine people in difficulty, but it’s time the gamers and the ‘tippers around’ were outed as to what they are, cheats and parasites who deprive those who are genuine ,of the assistance they need and deserve.

Time to call out these gamers.

Look at that bulldust going on down in Thurles for Gods sake.

Methinks that they’ve been reading Boards.ie! I’ve posted numerous times how AirBnB were affecting the long term availability of homes for rent.

I was reading a FB page there - Home Truths -where people who are homeless/in Hubs and the like were sharing their 'stories' about how awful it all was. Many very genuine - working but cant afford rent etc.

What struck me was the amount of people who's story was essentially 'I had my first child at 18/19/20, was made homeless, had a few more kids since then, I can't afford rent now or HAP isnt covering my costs or I cant find a suitable property'.

I know its a trope and plenty of people will jump down my throat at this, but did these people ever think for a moment that its not really advisable to have large families at such a young age without being in a position that they're financially able to put a roof over their kids heads?

Why? Wouldn't using empty public housing help with the housing crisis.

You put your finger on the main reason for for all this stuff, Pat.

But we gotta dig behind the reasons for this, and very few will admit it’s trying to game the system.

    Time to get real.

I did try once to discuss that and the reaction was (paraphasing) "how dare you, they love their kids!"

i recall the Chris Rock routine from back in the day - you're SUPPOSED to love your kids!!!! Judge Judy's another grand one - berating a father for saying he always thinks of his kids "they're my heart" - and goes "and that feeds them and pays the rent ???"

Key word bolded above. That's the crux of the issue, they don't think.

My sister works in a secondary school in a working class part of Dublin.

This year was the 1st year no 6th year was pregnant at the start of term.

Its mainly due to the shortage in houses in the schools opinion.

For years it was a lifestyle choice

Wait are they implying the fact the children didnt have houses is why there werent pregnant this year?

Or its the reason they had been getting pregnant?
