Anyways..without debating who is right or wrong on this, id like to hear why Gardai wore Balacalavas. Seems a little overdone.

Well no because there people are being housed in emergency accommodation and sure if they accepted an offer like that then they would never be able to moan again or will miss a chance to go somewhere in Dublin.

They'll happily wait it out and moan until something comes up in Dublin in years to come

So someone who is in business of property rental is now going to be treated the same as every other business in the state, and be allowed include interest as a deductible expense?

It's hardly the p0xy governments, they didn't have 7 children, they didn't force you to have them, you had the children so you needed to plan accordingly for them but as your history shows you did not and at this current junction the tax payer is paying for your children.

Ill say this categorically and I hope she reads this.....

This is the age of entitlement, of state dependency, of do nothing to further yourself but then expect the taxpayer to support you, often to a higher standard than they have themselves, of irresponsibility and windbaggery from those using the situation to keep themselves elected.

Of course there are problems, of course there are genuine people in difficulty,but it’s time the gamers and the ‘tippers around’ were outed as to what they are, cheats and parasites who deprive those who are genuine ,of the assistance they need and deserve.

I was reading a FB page there - Home Truths -where people who are homeless/in Hubs and the like were sharing their 'stories' about how awful it all was. Many very genuine - working but cant afford rent etc.

What struck me was the amount of people who's story was essentially 'I had my first child at 18/19/20, was made homeless, had a few more kids since then, I can't afford rent now or HAP isnt covering my costs or I cant find a suitable property'.

I know its a trope and plenty of people will jump down my throat at this, but did these people ever think for a moment that its not really advisable to have large families at such a young age without being in a position that they're financially able to put a roof over their kids heads?

I did try once to discuss that and the reaction was (paraphasing) "how dare you, they love their kids!"

i recall the Chris Rock routine from back in the day - you're SUPPOSED to love your kids!!!! Judge Judy's another grand one - berating a father for saying he always thinks of his kids "they're my heart" - and goes "and that feeds them and pays the rent ???"

My sister works in a secondary school in a working class part of Dublin.

This year was the 1st year no 6th year was pregnant at the start of term.

Its mainly due to the shortage in houses in the schools opinion.

For years it was a lifestyle choice
