yea the cold that came around paddys day last year was fairly exceprional and the bit of snow was gone very quick. id say we could go 50 years without snow in march like that again. did anyone notice also by say 5th or 6th March how quickly the muck and slush from all the melted snow was gone and land dried out very quickly?

No we had snow around for over 2 weeks and the council had to bring in a digger to clear the road.

Cut the lawn today. Was some growth on it. Great drying on the line today.

Yeah I cut the lawns and garden about 3 weeks ago, was serious growth over the winter, but not much growth since, will cut again tomorrow

This February isnt mild yet on the IMT due to cold start.

However after the next 7 days IMT will prob be 6.5c or more and creep towards 7c at the end. Ive seen an IMT of 8c I think in some of those charts of past Winters .. more than likely 1998.

Id say Winter mild charts will be

    1.1998
    2. 1989
    3. 2019

Dunsany finished with a 5.0 mean temperature in January, this was closer to 6.0 just before the cold days in the final days of the month.

For February the mean is currently 4.8, this should easily reach more than 6.0 by the end of the month.

December finished at an extremely mild 7.6 mean temperature at Dunsany. November was also really mild with a 7.8 mean temperature.

Land didn't dry out at all until may last year

Could see a Sahara dust event next week given the likely airflow on the latest models

tonight's run is milder than ever I've seen it in winter, even milder for the south of England. Some members are showing temps of 14C at 850hPA in London, if those came off temperatures could reach 20C over there before the end of the month if conditions are perfect.

It would rival the February of 21 years ago if it came to pass. I hope it's nature's way of having a laugh, before we are put into the freezer in early March, but i don't think so. This has been the most frustraing winter I can remember. At least in previous very mild winters, we were not led up the garden path with promises of a sustained and notable cold outbreak time and time again.

It would be great to get a run of mild dry weather for Spring. Summer will bring what summer will bring but in Ireland we need to take good weather when we can. Bring on bright evenings and dry mild weather!

Brilliant winter imo . No flooding . Relatively low hearing costs . The long depressing days felt that little bit shorter due to not being housebound for long periods due to rain/snow

Fantastic day yday . Unexpectedly got to finish work early and got some painting done outside
Lawns next on the hit list if the forecast pans out as forecast for mid term

Damn near a 10/10’einter for someone who likes to tip away outside and hates burning oil and turf !

Won’t be a popular opinion but it’s an honest one

The Winter's been fine for me since mid-January. It was the period up to early January that I found depressing and utter crap. As long as there's some nice sunny spells, I don't care if it's cold or mild although maybe mild as I'm not as warm blooded as I used to be.

I've gotten over the disappointment that this is a snowless Winter, I'd' much rather this mild and relatively sunny conditions instead of miserable cold zonal muck that we usually get.

So far I would already rank February far infront of November, December and January.

We got the winter we hoped for. Our twins were born in October. Perfect winter. Able to get out. Not housebound with snow or other foul weather. Not cold.

As for next winter bring on the storms and snow.. I normally love wild weather.

The Models better be having a laugh. FI is Spring Spring weather. Wouldn't mind one more shot at some cold weather then after that I don't care.:)

Winter can pack it’s bags now as far as I’m concerned. Today is savage. Can smell cut grass and feel the earth stirring

We will probably pay for the mild winter with a below average summer.

I am expecting the wind will come from the North over the summer months. No heatwave this year.

Temps are up, sun is shining, birds are singing, tee shirt is on and the mower is cutting, if this weather can keep up, i say good luck winter, you've been quickly forgotten

what a day, looks like the start of a good day in May, the sky has that late spring blue to it. The Long Range Forecasts (if they can be believed) are looking good for a mild March. The rest of February is a complete writeoff in terms of cold and snow. I've stopped looking at models for cold and snow as we seem locked into a prolonged mild pattern for the forseeable future.

13C here at Dunshaughlin and almost unbroken sunshine all day. Tomorrow could reach 15C in places like the Phoenix Park.

about 9/10 degrees and cloudy all day in Cork City. Hopefully this wont be an endless cloud remake of the december/janurary high pressure.

you could almost imagine this is a summer chart, with ireland on the wrong
side of the diagonal of warmth, buried under cloud and rain.
amazing how this misery porn can orientate itself so early in the year.

Hopefully we get plenty more mild leading into warmth throughout March, April and into the Summer. My thought's are now on bbq's, the garden, sunny walks and chart watching for sunny high pressure and Spanish plumes.

The cold, frost and snow never really made an appearance all winter, it can now stay away till next Winter.

I'm thinking the same all day. Cloudy and mild. Not a hint of the blue skies and fresh cut grass mentioned above.

I don't know what it is about low cloud cover, but when you step outside, it still feels like inside. Very claustrophobic. Roll on Spring/Summer.

Oh dear - ECM has a "beast" going into much of Europe towards the end of the month!!

I'm keeping an eye on end-month developments. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see a more favorable synoptic situation develop with the models in the next couple of days. The jet stream is not playing ball yet but the path is there for cold toward the end of the month from the east potentially.

Favored scenario still as per the ensembles is that we would avoid a cold incursion in to Europe but this can change quickly.
