Yep, I'm pretty much the same set of reasons. Still running my now 7-year-old 980Ti and it is really showing it's age at 1440p. Especially since I'm also trying to stream and/or record at the same time.

Heck, I would've gotten a 30-series if they didn't disappear in the blink of an eye and become price-gouged for the next two years...

300w limit seems like not a whole lot of performance loss either

it's expensive but looking very worth it

Okay, firstly that is rude and uncalled for. Nothing I said "makes no sense". You have different opinions on things, fine, but I explained the logic of my position. Perhaps be less of a dick next time?

Because the German FE seller wont let you ship to any of the forwarding companies, believe me I looked at every option early 2021 and its not possible outside of having someone you trust to ship to in Germany.

Right, at least AMD have an Irish direct buy site. As I bought my 6900 XT direct from AMD what must be over a year and a half ago.

Just a few short years ago £700 sterling would have bought you a top tier card. Now it's the difference between the 4090 FE and the Asus 4090 Strix. 😂

great performance, but then the halo tier cards always had, enjoy to anyone buying one. I wonder will they sell well? titan cards never really did great, amazing that changing the prefix from titan to xx90 has done if it does

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

I never thought of that and yes you are right the Titans were a Halo card and didn't sell that many but changing the name to **90 suddenly they sold bucket loads. But there was a huge demand for cards by miners the past couple of years so we will have to see if this generation of **90 card will sell as good as the 3090/Ti.

So where is everyone looking to get their 4090 tomorrow?

Me, ill be wearing out the F5 key on caseking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

Same. I usually get my tech from EVGA for their warranty but thats gone. Brexit means scan are a no-go too also. So itll be one of the wonky german sites for me.

I'm kind of annoyed that caseking upped all their prices by about 100 euro in the space of a few days. The Inno3D card was a flat two grand last week. It's listed at 2150 now. They've all gone up. Kind of scummy tbh.

I'm looking at the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio

I've had the 3080 variant and was a superb card, so I'm hoping the 4090 version will be the same

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,448 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

It looks like everyone has upped their prices the last couple of days. I've not seen that before. In fact, I don't remember prices being available prior to a launch before (FE excluded).

Anyway, won't be buying one myself but looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

I keep hearing that Nvidia have large stock levels for 3000 series cards they want to clear.

I was looking for a 3080 for a friend and the best I could find was a low tier AIB card for €900, I paid €920 in the height of the GPU shortage for a high tier AIB 3080.

That said I was only looking on Amazon as I'm a bit lost on where to go since brexit.

Can anyone recommend some European sites?

Caseking from Germany but they are the most expensive retailer(I think) in Germany but they officially ship here. The likes of Mindfactory are the cheapest but do not ship outside of Germany. You can use a mail forwarding company but that adds price and then complexity to shipping and the added cost it is nearly the same as just ordering straight from Caseking.

That's cap. If you paid €920 for a high end AIB 3080, it wasn't the height of the GPU shortage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

    anybody had any luck?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,682 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

I'm going to get the windforce. Closest price to FE and should be grand. Haven't tried ordering yet though no idea what stock is like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,448 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

They don't go on sale until this afternoon.

On Amazon.de there are plenty of 3080s under 900.

There's the PNY 3080 that's under €900 including shipping but that's the only one. Do you mean there is plenty of the same brand?

Is there still a serious shortage of cards Europe?

I got it direct from Amazon, the batch sold out in less than 1 minute.

I know you can't order from OcUK, but this forum update from one of their buyers might give you an idea of the overall stock situation...

Guys here is the stock on hand, IN STOCK in our warehouse now:

Asus TUF None OC - No availability until later today/tomorrow and very limited stock with no future shipments planned.

Asus TUF OC - Limited availability (less than 50)! More next month.

ASus Strix None OC - No availability and no ETA!

Asus Strix OC - Extremely limited availability and no more coming until November/December! (less than 30)

Gigabyte WindForce - Good availability (100 units)!

Gigabyte Gaming - Superb availability (200 units)!

Gigabyte Aorus Master - Extremely limited availability (20 units) and no more due until November/December!

Gigabyte Aorus AIO - Mega extremely limited availability (5 units) and no more due until November/December!

    Inno3D X3 - Poor availability (20 units)

    Inno3D iChill X3 - OK availability (50 units)

Inno3D iChill Black - November onwards

    Inno3D Frostbite - December onwards

    KFA2 - December onwards

Palit - No stock, due in about 1-2 weeks, poor availability

PNY - No stock, due in about 1-2 weeks, poor availability

    MSI Gaming - No availability

MSI Gaming X - Poor availability (20 units)

MSI Suprim X - Great availability (100+ units)

MSI Suprim X Liquid - No availability, November/December onwards

Zotac Trinity - Good availability (100 units)

Zotac Trinity OC - Good availability (100 units)

Zotac AMP AIRO - Good availability (100 units)

I would steer clear of cards below 20 units, were expecting hardly any additional stock this month, what you see above is all we have potentially for October, were more deliveries due November.

We will do our best but with so few units on certain cards like Strix and Aorus they will sell out within seconds, potentially minutes, in short only order if your happy to wait 4-12 weeks.

Zotac all cards, Gigabyte WindForce & Gaming, MSI Suprim X are the best bets stock wise!

Bloody wait is killing me for Caseking

My poor old F5 wont feel the same again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,382 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

I thought OC did still ship to Ireland? I'm pretty sure they deduct UK Vat and then you sort the Irish Vat etc with An Post/DHL.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,011 ✭✭✭harmless

    UK and Ireland Delivery Options

Brexit and Republic of Ireland: Due to restrictions imposed by import processes, we are no longer able to charge Irish VAT on orders. Customers will be contacted by the carrier to arrange payment of the relevant import taxes prior to delivery.

It will work out very expensive if they do not deduct UK VAT. It's not clear if they do.

Are the only options left caseking(scalpers) and Amazon(low stock)?
