Congratulations, ya that will be the passport office, I worked there as a TCO, nice place to work.

Congrats, we’re you number 1 on the panel so? Did they ring you first with an offer and then after you had to fill in you Garda clearance and references?

Jesus no, I was in Tuesday and was told 10 days to two weeks.

Meant to say the next few days sorry... I’d say results will be out quick maybe with Christmas coming they will want it done and dusted I’d imagine

Some might not have bothered travelling to Dublin but also the numerical section was not as straightforward. There is a practice test on the PAS website. It would be no harm to find other practice tests online or check your local library. The main problem I found was time but do not rush. Fifteen answered correctly is a lot better than twenty rushed answers. I jumped from the eighties into the top fifteen after stage 2.

Happy to say I got a call late this week for the Dept of Foreign Affairs which I presume is the Cork Passport Office. Going through vetting process now so I should be starting in the New Year.

Well done!!! We’re you number 1 on the panel, no talks of anyone else here from cork getting an offer yet. Once the rang you to offer the role did they then say they would need your references and Garda vetting?

Does anyone know has the first person been appointed to Limerick yet?

Yeah was told I think 10 days to 2 weeks. The last round of people were waiting a good while I think.

High teens in Batch 1 Limerick.. I emailed PAS yesterday to be told application has been sent to recruitment unit of my placement and should hear very shortly. Guessing its Revenue

The info seems to vary. I was in touch with them also. I am early teens for Limerick...and they said that there is a backlog of candidates at the moment and that they couldn't say exactly when we would start getting calls but that it would be a while yet.

I prefer not to give my placing. I was sent a link for Garda Vetting . I was told it was a lower level of vetting which should not take long(unlike for a position with eg. The Gardai). PAS said that they will contact any employer I was with over the last 12 months for a reference.
Hopefully will get an update before Christmas for a start in the new year.
Passport Office also interviewed for six month contracts recently and I was told by a guy that was interviewed that they were taking on a number of permanent COs as well.
    Bully for Brexit.

Is it just Civil Service Dept that hire off this panel. Are Co Councils (Local Authorities) forbidden from hiring off this panel. Must they conduct their own.

    Limerick.
    Info@pas.ie
What they said was I should hear from clearance early New Year which presume is link to vetting etc

Anyone in the first 15 in cork get offered a role yet?

    Hi All,
I think this was addressed before, but just wondering if anyone on here can give me some clarity on my situation. I worked previously in Teagasc (Semi State) as a Clerical Officer Grade III for a few years. Would this go towards time served. I have asked the Personnel Dept in Revenue, however they are unsure.

I think those scales are for staff appointed before 1995. Scales for staff appointed after 1995 are lower down the page.

Do civil servants get a discount on health insurance? Or is that just wishful thinking in my part...

If you join up with the union Forsa, I think they may have insurance discounts.

If your union was CPSU or PSEU (now Fórsa) then I think (with a small t) that Teagasc counts as a public service body for incremental credit. check out the circular below & if you think you have a case to make you can request a verification form from the local HR.

I just checked the staff handbook in Teagasc and Forsa is their union. It does use the civil service website links a lot in the handbook, when relating to pay and the Haddington Agreement. Fingers crossed.

You should be ok then, just get increment verification form from the local hr admin. If they dont have one, there should be an email address on your contract to request it.
