Anyone know whereabouts the “official” photos were taken bar the ones at the finishing line?

I've seen mine and there are some in the Phoenix Park and some just outside the RDS. Can't place any others though.

    Hi guys,

For anyone interested and now that the finisherpix.com photos are up I have updated my scrape tool which lets you download the low resolution versions of your marathon photos. See http://finisherpixdownloader.tinyviking.ie/

    Hmmm.

None of mine are from the Phoenix Park.

All seem to be the last few km and the very end.

Mine are in the run up to phoenix Park, in the park, over in donnybrook and the finishing area

Obviously I was in a big enough space to have the photo taken haha

I’m not sure about the official ones, but I know Sportsfile we’re moving around the course on a motorbike to multiple locations.

So a few weeks ago my goal was 3:30 then I thought about 3:20 but settled on 3:25. As mentioned before I was in wave 3 but I managed to be on the starting line which was a good call. It was about 8 miles before we really hit a large group and it was crowded in parts so there was a bit of weaving but the crowds really did help. It felt good being able to pass people but also giving them encouragement a long the way. I managed a negative of about 30 seconds to finish in 3:23. That was a 32 minute PB from my last 2 years ago so absolutely buzzing after it. It was a perfect day for running and the organisation was excellent. Not sure I'll be back next year, mainly because I'd like to go back to shorter stuff. One marathon every 2 years is what is in my head.

Well done to everyone and if I don't run next year I will definitely be up there cheering everyone on.

First marathon since 2014, delighted to be back this year despite life & injuries conspiring against my training plan.

I learned that with a half-decent cardio engine from swimming/cycling etc, and as long as you're not too precious about your time, you can still complete a marathon with very little running in your legs (I did 18k-20k-22k in the 3 weekends prior and then took the last weekend off for a "taper", LOL).

Came in around an hour slower than last time at 4:52 but still had the craic out on the course, soaked up the atmosphere before and after, no hitting the wall or walking (except through the aid stations).

So the DCM has grown a _lot_ since I last did it, but what surprised me was the drop-out rate. It was sold out with 20k entries since May, but the app is showing just 16206 finishers. Is a circa 20% drop-out rate normal for marathons? Seems high to me, but it's a predictable proportion of entrants then surely the organizers could oversell using the same logic as airlines etc. So if the Gardaí say the max for safety reasons would be 20k runners on the road, they should be able to safely sell at least 22k entries and still comfortably come in under 20k.

I believe that is in fact what they do, they plan with the assumption that there will be a drop out rate of whatever.

On the results page it has 16,246 finishers. Is that the official amount of finishers as they were saying there was over 20,000 registered?

20,000 registered but always a significant number pull out before the start for various reasons and then lots fail to finish on the day.

Maybe they are applying that logic but for 17,000 as opposed to 20,000?

DNFs are included in the results. They're currently showing 16158 finishers out of 16434 (results are probably still being added as reports of failed chips are reviewed)

I think the oversell is already built into these entries and the limit probably being a few thousand below available entries so sell 20k knowing they won't get that. Those dns numbers you mentioned would be fairly typical of most marathons booked that far in advance but dnf's would also make up a smaller proportion of the overall numbers on top of it, usually like 1% I think which means around 16500 took the line roughly which is probably close to max capacity.

Sounds too good to be true to me, there is no box I can see for a discount code anyway!

There was a box there this morning for discount codes. gone now. maybe they reached their limit

Enter all your details first and on the last page you'll see a 'enter discount code' field. Should reduce it down to 50euro.

I didn't even get to use it myself! I was impatient and registered on Tuesday!

There was a box there this morning for discount codes. gone now. maybe they reached their limit

Apologies maybe it's now sold out. I tried it out myself about an hour ago and it worked on last page. Several of my friends got it at the 50 price too. It was a code sent out to KBC customers.

EDIT: yes, sold out at that price now.
