Borrisoleigh played their last 2 games there. Any other county in Munster wouldnt agree to play there except the soft touches from Waterford.

Ballysaggart v Fr O’Neills has been fixed for Dungarvan. We can expect this to be pulled from FF based on your logic?

Or closer to home, he must have missed the 2014 Munster club final between Cratloe and Kilmallock in the Gaelic Grounds

Cratloe is beside the Gaelic Grounds. All the Cratloe guys would have played there with their schools. Kilmallock is 45 mins away from the Gaelic grounds.
Fraher Field is about midway between Father O Neills and Ballysaggart . I wouldnt have agreed to that venue if it was my choice. But that's fine
Obviously Ballygunner agreed that Thurles would have been an advantage for Borris or else they would have said from the outset 'Yeah let's play it Semple, no need for a toss or neutral venue.'

Do Fr O Neills have many Cork seniors in there squad ??

Ballysaggart have the 3 Bennetts who have all played at the highest level so other than tullaroan in kilkenny must be one of the stronger teams left in the Intermediate competition this season ??

All the Ballygunner lads played in Thurles last year? I would say in the last two years probably as many times as Borrisoleigh have played there.

And Ballysaggart have played their last two games in Fraher Field, when was the last time Fr O Neill's played in Fraher Field?

Only in Ireland do people think one team travelling 20 mins to another team travelling and hour and a half is a significant advantage. Both are short distances.

Declan Dalton, a serious young prospect. They have a few on the Imokilly team that cantered to the Cork SHC the last years aswell.

True, Saggart have 3 Bennetts and with those guys any team would have a serious chance. However, outside of that they are only probably a junior team, I think they have a 43 year old playing? Fr O Neills would be a lot more balanced, as would Tullaroan. Home advantage is a huge coup and they're in with a great shout but Fr O Neills are a very good team so they will be up against it, should be a good match can't see there being much in it

Ballysaggart wont see it as home advantage. A home venue for them would be Lismore or even Cappoquin. Fr O’Neills outside Youghal is the same distance as the crow flies

Of course it’s a home venue and a definite advantage, these lads have played in Fraher Field since they were 12/13 years of age with their club and schools. They have played there on numerous occasions this year. It’s not just about distance, it’s about being in their home county with a pitch and setting that they are more familiar with.

They will surely show the Ballygunner match live next Sunday???

Few other big games on that day including the Connacht senior football final and the Leinster senior football semi final including Ballyboden

I remember a few years ago they didnt show the Munster final live

I think the Munster final trumps the provincial semi final. They could show Connacht football live and deferred coverage of the Ballygunner match.

    These championships are finished?

intermediate in the east is still on going.

Saviours playing Mollerans this weekend to decide who goes down junior hurling.

Also this weekend St Pauls are in divisional junior football final.

    where they play Butlerstown.

This is some crack this championship.

St Pauls got a walkover in the semi final from Portlaw.

Portlaw gave a walkover themselves against St Pauls in August, and played their last game in July.

Portlaws quarter final game 2 months ago where they got a walkover from kill.

St Pauls have had a tough road to this final, they two games in a week in May.

Then got two walkovers, one in July, one in August, a bye into the semi final where they also got a walkover.

The last competitive football match they played was the 5th of July.

What a time to be alive.

That is junior C football. I wouldn't blame the Eastern board for not having the championship finished when all these teams are giving walkovers and don't seem to want to play.
And in terms of the intermediate hurling relegation, st Saviours were playing football up to last week so I can see why it hasn't been played.

Why doesn’t it happen in 3rd division soccer?

If your so dismissive of junior C football why don’t they run it off over 6 weeks in the summer and not over 8 months.

It’s shambolic scheduling and organizing. No wonder clubs can’t field teams when fck knows when they are playing.

Also saviours playing football has nothing to do with it. Eastern board only realized they had to fix the game when ballydurn lost co final.

What's been outlined about that Junior Championship reinforces the terrible plight of the club player, but the clubs, players and Board all share blame here.

The Board simply must do a better job of the fixtures. Run it off in the spring, summer or any suitable period of consecutive weeks that's agreeable. It isn't confined to Junior C, most of the Junior A guys would have got 3-5 games this year. Intermediate you'd get 5-6 games.

You aren't really playing a sport if you only play 5 or so games a year. If you smoked a cigarette 5 times in a year you wouldn't call yourself a smoker. In other counties they play a game at least every two weeks for most of the year - and that's what we should be striving for.

The clubs and the players shouldn't be giving walkovers. They should also be demanding better competitions and presenting constructive suggestions to help bring motions and improve competition structures.

However, it's obviously a Catch 22 to some degree. Most of these lads will probably be looking to other sports for regular exercise - probably soccer where they'll get a regular game in a defined season.
