I was doing the Etape du Tour on Sunday. Think the temp maxed out at 37 at one point :pac: It did not make for an enjoyable experience.

I am not enjoying this heat.

I agree, that's why I oppose airplane internet existing. That is my time, not time for trickle internet fast enough for Work Emails and nothing else.

I like airplane wifi for using whatsapp and keeping in touch with people. I don't even pretend to ever work on planes.

I've to work in the UK this weekend, doing an outdoor setup on Thursday. Forecast is 35 degrees. FML.
Cooling down for the weekend but I'm going to be a sweaty mess on Thursday.

Unfortunately I've to go to Sicily on Saturday for 2 weeks holidays. Apparently it's very warm there.
    FML.

IMHO heat is not the problem, it's humidity.

    We were in France 33 degrees + 70 % humidity = unbearable

    Then we were in Spain - 37 degrees + 30 % humidity = not a bother

So I'd check out whether Sicily is dry heat or Singapore style heat. If it's the latter, your best bet is to spend all day swimming...

Luckily enough we've our own pool so I will probably spend at least 8 to 10 hours per day in there.

Got an aircon unit delivered today. Stuck it in the office. Bliss. Now to see the effect on my ESB bill and carbon footprint.

Whereabouts in sicily? I'm only just back from there. I flew into Palermo, spent two nights in Cafelu, four in Lapari then one last night in Palermo. Stromboli erupted a week after I left. Really wish I was there to be a see that.

Just outside Capo D'Orlando. Never been before so it'll be something new. Time is passing very slow at the minute!!

mfceiling won't enjoy a second of the infinity pool as he'll be too distracted by how the Sicilians built their ceilings, and how he would have done it completely differently.

Ireland England in first test in lord's. England won toss. Ireland bowling and England are 42-6 in 13 overs

    Great minds TLS.

I spent 25 minutes last year watching 3 french men build a wall lining system that would have taken me about 15 minutes.... and they still did it wrong!!

    Excellent cricket...

gonna ask a stupid question now about cricket as i know absolutely nothing....

is all ireland have to do is get to 86 runs or above and the game is over?

or do they continue to play until everyone is out or the innings are over?

England will bat again and Ireland may have to bat again. All depends on what score Ireland put up when batting now.

So they could go through 20 batters altogether?

It's a test match so both teams have two innings i.e. both bat twice and field twice. Scheduled to take 4 days!

I think England are still favs in reality. But some craic rn.

Andy Balbeirne played at least one round of senior Cup rugby at outhalf for St Andrews. Think he played the year before at scrum half too.

They're still favourites with the bookies anyway (I know absolutely nowhere near enough about cricket to have an opinion). It's tightened a fair bit with this partnership though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,748 ✭✭✭✭bilston

This can't be happening. Am I dreaming?

33 runs ahead with 8 wickets in hand...at Lords...!!!

    This is actually unbelievable.

Ireland could still be bowled out for under 180 and then England will only be 100 runs and you would have to make them favourites. Ireland need to be pushing 300.

What's different a out this test is that it's only 4 days. Doesn't seem like weather will be a problem either (save thunderstorms I suppose). So it's harder to predict. Presumably batting last on a Day 4 wicket would be easier than batting on a Day 5 wicket.

They must have John Hayes pashun in their veins.

I wonder what Eoin Morgan is thinking.

I'm sure he wouldn't change his decision for a minute given he is a world cup winning captain. But he doesn't play for their test side. Imagine bringing him in at 4 or 5.

Before I order online, does anyone know where I can get a decent whetstone in Dublin? I can't find mine anywhere since I moved.
