OOC: Yes, you see him in one state now. The eight dwarves and BandyLegs continue to flicker between death and life. I'm off to bed.

ooc: so he is not invisilbe to ekbard then. cool.

"dude, it wasn't that kind of kiss. Focus on the task!"

Ooc-i don't think so, it draws blood, I think I was given a pass for the pencil cause it did **** all damage, but that's a warrior weapon and I'm but a simple Cleric

ooc: and a flail dont draw blood :)
no problem, you're probably more skilled with the flail that the spear could have offered you anyway.

"Skilled? I can't remember if I've every hit anyone with this thing. And as for blood, that was never an issue for Jammai. But it looks like a little angry fist on a chain, which is kind of important to me. I mean, we've never really talked, I'm glad we're finally getting this opportunity - so the fist represents the aspect of Jammai that seeks to hinder those who would further the rending of the glorious Song - I mean you can't really help anyone with a closed fist can you? Unless maybe you're a proctologist? - anyway the point is I can swing this fist around as much as I want as long as it's in the service of My Lady but a spear? A honking great Spear? What does that represent? It's a symbol of the very ripping and splitting I'm supposed to be stopping, you know? And I know not everything has to be a simiphore but I mean you have to draw a line, don't you? you have to draw line and stand on one side of that line and tell the world 'this is who I am, this is why I'm here!' right? And I mean, what... Are you suggesting that the Spear is that single pointed question, that penetrating inquiry that leads me to my Grand Adjunct? That it represents the head of a hard Truth with the leverage of a Righteous shaft that will crack open the sediment of order and release the glorious muddling mess below? I suppose when you put it like that...."

    Tl;Dr: I assume I can't use the spear?

Ekbard approaches flak, "would you be able to tell me what these 4 potions do?"

"Ekbard, before the three of you head off, here are the potions you wanted me to check."

Flak sips each potion in turn
The first tastes syrupy sweet and makes him a little hungry, like he could do with a big fry-up on a Sunday morning. Extra Healing.

The second tastes like grass and oak, like the very taste of a spring morning. Plant Control.

The third tastes like dirt and fungus, decaying mould, dank and rotting leaves, like sour wine. Undead Control

The last is tasteless, and makes him anxious a minute after consumption unsure of what it is till he notices a tiny hint of translucency in his hand holding the vial. Invisibility.

"Use them well. All effects last half an hour."

Ekbard gives the scroll to flak, "thanks for that, hopefully we can find a use for these potions, see if you can make sense of this scroll, its of no use to me. You don't happen to have any healing magic before I go, a building just fell on me."

Flak reads the formulae upon the scroll, he can't believe his luck.

One side of the scroll is a song that matches the fabric of the world in cadence and tone, precise equations described on the scroll will allow him to work out each note in advance. The mental strain will be intense, but he knows he can manage it. With this he can stop time for thirty seconds.

The back contains further equations extending the song. These would allow him to continue the song for up to six minutes, but may prove fatal.

Othegre mutters "My lady, he may be a tool but he's our tool, please undent his bod." and waves her arms around theatrically.
ooc : cure light wounds, 1d6+1 = 7, see Rolz for the roll.
"Ooooooooh Salmagundi! I'm going to need to dress up for this. This is going to be grooooss. Wait, this jerk knows magic? Real magic, like the zoomy-kaboomie type, not the where-did-the-penny-go oh-look-there's-a-rabbit-in-my -shoe-stuff? Can you read elf? I have some weird crap I stole from a God I need looked at! Wait here! "

She runs off to her wagon to squelch back into her proper armour, and clanks back carrying an assortment of crap (Finger in ring, box with key, box with diamond, dagger, note, Elven spell book)

"Find out what this stuff is all about! But give it back. Jin Qi will be watching, and you know a girl who wears her hair like that HAS to be dangerous."

    OOC :
    AC 3 / 2 with shield.
    Enc +2 for plate, +1 for >6 items = 3
I don't realistically expect him to do anything with the boxes or ring, unless he can read the elvish note, but I figure it's a way to get the spell book in the MU's hands :D

Flak opens the box and peers in. Bottom of the box has an image of a temple, in fact the image is so good it's like looking through a window.

A portal of course!! A portal in a box.

OOC: Check Wisdom twice, once for each of the other two items.

"How come you're not a vampire anymore or is that something you can just switch on and off?

I'll check this stuff out for you if I can and I do have a spell that will let me read the note and the book.

    Can I pet your dog?"

EDIT: Wis checks: 18 and 2

"Oh that, I buried an elf in the woods and I think it set me freeeeeeee!"
She spins around as gracefully as one can when wearing half a Ford Cortina.
"I don't think he's dead though, I can still hear his heart beating. Its very slow though, so I'm sure he'll be fine. We can go dig him up later, can't we Ari, can't we?"
she ruffles the wolf's head, then suddenly glares at Flak and hisses
"Don't you touch my doggie! The other touched my doggie. She's dead now."
Aria picks up on the mood, snarling at Flak but Othegre calms her down with some nuzzling and schnookumsisms.

ooc : Can I make assumptions about the wolf that don't affect gameplay, and puppet her? If no, let me know and I'll edit out the puppetry :D

Ekbard says to flak, "if you need currency, there are 7 gems in my cart, use them to fund any equipment you need to buy until we get back"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

Ekbard grabs the two waterskins from his cart and heads to the river to fill them and have his fill of water. He returns the two full waterskins into his cart and eats a ration, then smiles feeling belly cheerful.

Ekbard feeds bandyleg's horse, "Your master has got himself in a bit of a pickle, hopefully we can do something about that, but we won't leave you behind, dont you worry, we'll treat you like our own until we get your master back....."

    OOC
When I go camping I like to go prepared.
Wish list of items not in the stores:
    Book collection - mostly cookery
    Cooking pots, knives, skillets, ladles
    Cooking rations(salt, herbs, spices)
    Fishing line
    Small animal traps

    Rations :
Belladonna (per ounce) 4 sp · Feverfew (per ounce) 5 cp · Garlic (per bud) 4 cp · Hollyhock (per ounce) 4 cp · Rue (per ounce) 3 sp · Sage (per ounce) 4 cp · Spiderwort (per ounce) 2 sp · Wolfsbane (per ounce) 8 sp · Yarrow (per ounce) 4 cp ·
    - from Advanced Companion

Edit : Actually they're predominantly used for more "adventury" things than cooking, but they're listed under Herbs.

Paper is 4sp a sheet and a blank spellbook is 15GP so you could roll 1d20 to cover the Author's fee for each book and add it on, and hope some of them are Guy Fieri pulp trash rather than hand-written notes by Marcus Wareing. Would you have Cook Books, or just your own (a blank spell book) with recipes you've learned or devised?

Can't see anything related to fishing wire, pots or pans.
An Iron Long Sword would weigh around 1.3KG.
A cast iron skillet would weigh around 1.1KG. But it would require a lot less skill and time to make.
A Long Sword is 10GP. I think you could half that for an average pot price (so, 5gp), easy, based on a 2 handed War Hammer - a zero-finesse big-weight-on-a-stick costing half what a 2 handed sword does despite them having comparative amounts of metal in them. Using a flat price per pot would account for smaller and larger pots assuming a skillet is a representative of average size?

Ekbard lies in his cart and sleeps soundly, he dreams of sailing a small ship across a sea to an island that looks familiar to him, but at the shore is an army of beasts, with the body of dragons and the heads of devils. Later in the dream he is riding one of these dragvils, commanding it, at the front of a legion of these dragvils which are flying thought the skies in formation with him. He sleeps with a smile on his face.

OOC: sleep restores HP a little, dont it.

OOC : 2HP for 8 hours I think. Not sure Death is the type to keep waiting though... I'm not fishing for a thanks or anything but did you notice I healed you for 7HP? (you're welcome :D )

Othegre re-enters the foundry and sits crosslegged, watching the dwarves spasm between life and floor-pizza. She tries to imagine a kind of transitional phase between the states, a kind of melting and reforming from the viscera and goo but they flicker too quickly, it's not happening. Who'd have thought the metal dwarf would still have so much blood left in him?

She notices the hooded figure, still in his chalk circle.

"Hey, Boney hands. Love the look. You seem to know a thing or two about passing over - have you ferried any hungry looking horses anywhere afterlifey recently? I'm worried about Clip Clop."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

ooc: thanks for the heal, that 7 + 2 = 9 and i lost 10 from the building falling on me, so after the sleep i'll be only -1 HP. I think death will understand the fighter having a few winks before going out to seek and try to kill scarata for him.

Ekbard stirs awake after having a solid 8 hours kip. He stands up and stretches and utter a real loud yawn, he then hops down form the cart, eager to go mage hunting.

"Clip Clop is fine my friend, no need to worry. The equine afterlife is a pleasant place...."

    he seems lost in thought

"...might take a visit there, thanks for reminding me.

I also, well another aspect of myself did, pass over. You wouldn't remember this, but I almost had you to the other side, though I do not comprehend your religion's afterlife, it looked like chaotic white noise. Then you flew back out of my grip and back into your corpse."
