In keeping with the close Ferrari relationship, Giovinazzi is probably a fair shout. Unless they go looking for an F2 or GP3 graduate with cash behind them

The only other remotely able is Antonio Fuoco.

Wonder would they go after Kvyat

And he would need at least 5th in the F2 championship to qualify for a super licence. Currently 7th and there is plenty of competition in that series this year

He's probably happy to defend his upcoming Formula E title.

    This too shall pass.

Australian GP could be on from the 15th to 17th of March next year.

Good to hear, I liked it back in the late 90's, early 00's when it was the close to the beginning of March. 2001 started on the 4th of March. I see 1992 was the 1st of March in South Africa

Just checked in to say what a race Perez had. Out in q1. The fecked up the pit stop strategy just like Hamilton’s and let Ocon get the safety car pit stop and yet he still made up a few places and finished ahead of ocon.

People call him a Total middle of the road driver and rate magnussen ahead of him. Give him a good car and watch him wreck the commentators heads by winning every week.

And clashes with Sebring, so which one will Alonso skip? I'm guessing he'll be in Florida chasing the world title he has a chance of winning.

In the 60s there were seasons that started on New Year's Day. (With Monaco in May as the second race...)

They both had a year in McLaren and both suffered a bit because of it
But outside of McLaren, Perez has had plenty of good results, would rate him well above Magnussen. Trouble is there are not a lot of good cars on the grid that need a better driver. Seems to suit the top two teams to have a number 1 driver and a second driver to bring the car home

That's if Alonso sticks with F1. Not looking likely in my opinion.

No. He's just trying to do his mate a favour.

Leclerc was always destined to drive for Ferrari but I would believe they have decided to jump at him earlier than expected, due to his fine performances to start the season.

Despite his talent I went in hesitant due to his car but he's showed real maturity and a pure driver's mentality in some of his decisions, seem so natural. Also seems grounded, I remember one of his few mistakes he was on the radio giving out about how he messed up and taking full responsibility.

Would be delighted if he joins them next season.

Were we not to hear about the new engine rules for 2021 last week?

Seems to not be ready, but Aston Martin came out and said they won't very likley not build an engine.

I wonder will McLaren chance their arm at it. Their road car division is lashing out monsters these days (not the same I know), but they at least do have their own engine department now.

You would have thought that building there own F1 engine would be next logical development for there F1 division. If Aston Martin that is a lot smaller than Mclaren think can do it. Then why not Mclaren? Maybe they should look into building one for the new engine rules if there time with Renault does not work out.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Joe Saward suggested a while back that a joint venture between Aston, Mclaren and Cosworth might be an option. They could work together on the core architecture to negate some of the initial expenses in development and then go their separate ways. It would be a good way for all three to get a reasonably solid baseline engine together. But nothing will happen until they announce the regulations, wish they would hurry up.

I see the British GP will be the last race Channel 4 will be showing live before the summer break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭PukkaStukka

With Channel 4 ceasing live coverage next year, and given that Eir Sports redistributes the CH4 feed, one wonders if Eir Sports will be able to continue its F1 coverage. If Eir goes, the alternatives thereafter are ropey streams or expensive Sky F1.

I've a an additional satellite dish for RTL from Germany purely for F1 coverage. I believe they too may be ceasing their F1 coverage too after 2020
