It brings Native River into play. Might Bite won't want it near heavy.

Minella Rocco. 2nd last year and finished like an aeroplane he ate that hill. Shed loads of stamina he won the 4 miler 2 years ago iirc.

Bet in the Ryanair now is Cue Card at 6/1

Un De Sceaux is solid but well short enough now with Cue Card in the race. He's 12 yo now and had a tough race last time out but he's a past winner of the race and this is his distance at the festival. He fell twice in the Gold Cup but has won this before. Last run was right up there with any form in this race. He's rated 2lbs lower than Un De Sceaux.

Does this look right to you?

    Horse | Odds | %
    Cue Card | 6/1 | 14.3%
    Un De Sceaux | 11/8 | 42%

He will 100% stay. Maybe a few years ago it was questionable but hes matured now.

Looks huge value . As much as I love uds , if cue card repeats last run he wins .

Absolutely amazed here at the love for Cue Card, Un De Sceaux is approaching bet of the festival territory!

UDS should be going champion chase in the heavy ground . He may not stay the trip if the ground is heavy. That said by Thursday it might be better .

Quick question regarding the declaration of headgear. Is it declared on final decs or can it be found now?

I’m looking at a horse for the Grand Annual (not Don’t Touch It) and I’m interested to see if he’ll have cheek pieces on. I won’t back him if he doesn’t have them on but I don’t want to wait until Thursday night to back him either. He’s goimg to be part of a multiple with horses running Tuesday and Wednesday.

I like Mite Bite because hes a bit of a head banger. Stamina has 2 be called into question tho.

I like might bite because he's in a piss poor renewal this year. Our Duke 3rd fav tells you all you need to know.

Last year's race was probably worse. Djakadam was sent off favorite.

Our Duke is a serious animal, very underrated. He’s just not a horse that captures people’s imaginations if that makes sense. Seeing him win that Irish National in the flesh was something else, he also won the best Novice Chase of the last god knows how long at Leopardstown last Christmas. He’s a brilliant horse.

Spot on. Was it Coney Island and Disko he beat?

Yes, had two other decent horses in Martello Tower and A Toi Phil behind him too.

Coney Island and Disko both 160+ horses. People saying Our Duke isn’t good enough are mad in the head. Yes he throws in the odd poor jump and that will cost him next Friday if he does it but I think the ground will suit him and he’ll love the hill. In my opinion the only negative against him is that he’s never been out of Ireland before. If he had a run at the Festival before I’d be backing him, just can’t have him running in a Gold Cup on his first start in the U.K. Jessie is ridiculous at getting these horses primed but it’s a big negative I think.

Same with Coney Island, he hasn’t run at the Festival before and after what happened at Ascot I couldn’t have him here. He’s a brilliant horse and is my idea of a Gold Cup winner but maybe not this year.

I did an analysis couple years back on first time headgear for festival after reading mcckean article in indo, the most striking finding for me was the inaccurate notations in the papers, rp and sporting life etc did not always agree on the headgear so watch out for that if your relying on only one source for head gear declarations

Won't be this year anyway he was taken out at the last cut.

You only declare headgear at final declaration stage

I was thinking that alright, thank you. I’ll bite the bullet and back him now - can’t see them not applying them for the big day.
