How can a result flatter someone who, at the same time is unfortunate?

If were still on at this - from a fake New Zealander https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hapless

I mean that the French should have lost by a lot more and the scoreline flatters them - sorry if I'm not up to your superior intellect.

In breaking news, neuro surgeons are urgently reviewing a CT scan on SBW. Concerned medics rushed him to Hôpital St Pierre, after his absolutely retarded brainfart. Their concern grew further when he said he though slapping the ball out was allowed in rugby since it's OK in league.

If only France had played the 1st half like they did the 2nd. I had flashbacks to '99 for a few moments there.

Agree, I thought the French were listless and clueless how to play the blacks. Sad to see

it was a strange one as it would have been easier to just catch the ball.

The Black 7 was a lucky boy in that phase as he could easily have gotten a yellow in the ruck leading up to the cross field kick.

Georgia hammer Canada 54-22, impressive result.

An absolutely ridiculously good try from the Georgians.

Yeah. It's unfortunately normal though. The only players who shined yesterday were our youngsters. All our experienced players failed, particulalrly our front row where we were supposed to be better than the ABs.

But, if you take a step back, these "so-called" experienced players are mainly experienced... to lose! It's the first time for a long time that the French XV has a negative ratio win/defeat over the last 6-7 years. Whatever the tactics, technical skills, mental preparation, it's not the same feeling when you enter the pitch having lost 1 game in a 100 years (the ABs :p) and when you've only won 1 in 10 years...

Also, a worrying factor is that the players who failed were the ones protected by the federation (limited amount of games played for a list of internationals). Though it's only been in place for 6 months or so. But, to use a French expression, I feel it's only putting a plaster on a wooden leg :p. As long as we refuse to revolution the Top14 we'll get nowhere on the mid to long-term.

So Argentina left 12 points on the field yesterday and were at least competitive for most of the game, they will fancy beating us again and the pride in the jersey means they nearly always give it a proper go away from home. I still think their back 3 is better than ours and their backrow always makes hard yards.

Dupont is so damn cool. Nothing fazing him.

'kinell. His speed and ability to change direction in open play is incredible.

He's still only 20 and he already has an eight-minute highlights video

Ouch, terrible for him. Relatively recently overcame his concussion issues, to be hit with that is dreadful.

I see a listing for France V NZ tomorrow evening in Lyon?
Seems strange as they played on Saturday?

It's a France XV vs NZ XV, basically second string sides but they look strong enough.

ABs team to play a French XV tomorrow night.

    All Blacks team:
    15 David Havili,
    14 Matt Duffie,
    13 Jack Goodhue,
    12 Ngani Laumape,
    11 Seta Tamanivalu,
    10 Lima Sopoaga,
    9 Tawera Kerr-Barlow,
    8 Luke Whitelock, captain
    7 Ardie Savea,
    6 Liam Squire,
    5 Dominic Bird,
    4 Patrick Tuipulotu,
    3 Jeff Toomaga-Allen,
    2 Nathan Harris,
    1 Tim Perry.
    Reserves:
    16 Asafo Aumua,
    17 Atu Moli,
    18 Ofa Tu'ungafasi,
    19 Scott Barrett,
    20 Akira Ioane,
    21 Dillon Hunt,
    22 Mitchell Drummond,
    23 Richie Mo'unga

Luke Whitelock to captain the ABs in only his second match for them.
6-2 split on the bench. I know nothing about Dillon Hunt. Will be interesting to see how he goes.
Looking forward to seeing Duffie, Goodhue, Aumua and Ioane.

Is this a full capped international? Surely not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,429 ✭✭✭Yeah_Right

No it doesn't count towards test caps. Not sure who first wanted the match, NZ or France but it could be an interesting game with guys on both sides pushing for first team spots (haven't seen the French team yet). And it's great having a midweek game to look forward to.

Dillon was very good last season for the Highlanders. He's a strong fast flanker who's made the most of his chance after we lost 3 open sides to injury. He's been with the baa baas for the last couple of weeks.

Once an Aussie always an Aussie. This weekend should be fun on the expletive-o-meter.

I read that he started the season playing club rugby in rugby in Dunedin before getting called up to Highlanders due to injuries. Was he in the Otago NPC squad last season? How old is he? Meteoric rise for him.

Well France B vs the ABs B is a much closer game than Saturday night's match.

That game was reffed by the local tv producer and panto villain crowd jeers.

They need to come up with a more objective way to ref games. It was far to intrusive.

Allblacks get a penalty for a horsecollar high shot which is reversed about 3 minutes later by the TMO as mo'unga lines up kick for an obstruction in the build up. It's bizarre. The ref was happy in real time. keep the game going

Hansen not happy with it again either. Cost them the game against S.A a few years back.

I stopped reading that article after this sentence:
Hansen said the issue had been raise previously with World Rugby but felt after raring its head again it had not been dealt with.

Really? We have to take a stand against such malapropisms. It's like "reign it in".
