they were In the U21 A grade county semi final a few years back beaten by Douglas and the following year lost the final to Nemo after a reply. They’ve lost some of that team but still have to have some pedigree

Delighted for Kilmurry. When you beat a Kerry team you are a good team. Well done delighted for you.

All we can do is use it as motivation for next year. I don't mean to go raking over old coals again but we deserved a draw at the very least imo.

Nice touch, they will have a statue of him erected too. A lot of work has been put in to the complex over the past 12 months since the flood.

i never knew about it at the time , but nearly a half an hour after the final whistle i got a WhatsApp or a snapchat message with just the photo of the conor leen jersey pull , no comments attached

my heart sunk when i saw it for a few seconds , i could only think of offaly in 1998 , the cork crowd were fierce sound after the game and over the next few weeks , it might not have been as placid had the shoe been on the other foot , myself included ,

i do like the attitude of the cork supporters though , challenging the team to go again rather then sulking , so far there has been a huge backlash in the club game this winter in munster from cork hurling as a result

This ref is very bad in the Sars game. Not letting it flow at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,100 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Very first chance of the match he gave the Sars forward around 12 steps to get their shot off. Can’t be letting this game flow as there’s some dirty blows/slaps. Fouls are fouls.

    Sars lead 9-8 at HT.

WAtergrasshil leading 1-17 to 0-6 after 45 min

It would be great id Dard could get there too.

All 3 Cork teams into their respective All Ireland finals.

Delighted for Sars!! Really close game ! Slaughtneill should have got that goal at the end.

The ref was very poor as I said earlier. For both teams I meant. He seemed to let things go for the last 10 mins after blowing for everything early on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,466 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

has it ever happened that a team won the all ireland without winning the club , it probably happened in football over the years but not hurling surley .

watched a good bit of sars in the cork championship on the website , very impressed with the likes of aaron myers, shane o'reagan , daniel hogan , paul leopold and brian murphy ,jack o'connor has been outstanding in any game i seen him play and he barley gets a sniff in the cork senior side

It was strange in the last 10 other than over-carrying there was no such thing as a foul. For both sides - he really left some questionable hits/fouls go.

Terrible miss for the goal at the end - I feel for the Slaughtneill player, he will have nightmares on that one.

ref seemed to want to be centre of attention ruined the game from a neutrals view point

Don't think there will be much between the teams in the final. This is a glorious chance for Sars the way the draw has opened up with no Ballyhale or St. Thomas in the semi or final

Interesting article in D'Examiner. In fairness, this issue has been flagged by the knowledgeable posters of the Cork Forum here!

"Cork GAA CEO Kevin O’Donovan has said Kerry are “out of sync” with other counties in who they send forward for junior and intermediate provincial club competitions.

O’Donovan was responding to a suggestion from the Knocknagree club at the recent county convention that the Cork Senior A champions should represent the county in the Munster intermediate club championship, and not the premier intermediate champions as is presently the case.

Mike Doyle of Knocknagree told convention that Cork would be “more competitive with Kerry” at Munster club level if Cork were represented in the provincial intermediate championship by the winners of the second-tier county championship.

The current situation, he added, sees Kerry clubs “walking all over” their Cork intermediate counterparts.

With only eight club teams in the Kerry senior championship, their intermediate winners are the ninth ranked outfit in the Kingdom. The Cork premier intermediate champions, by contrast, sit 25th on their respective ladder.

By allowing the Cork Senior A champions go forward to the Munster Intermediate, Knocknagree argued, you would have Kerry’s ninth-ranked team taking on Cork’s 13th."

You could also argue that if Cork had organised their competitions different i.e. senior, intermediate, junior a etc and had just 12 to 16 in both that that would also help. I'm not from Cork or Kerry but Kerry have been running their championship this way for years now. Here in Clare, we've just added these 'premier' competitions like yereselves as well and I don't see the sense to it.

You would probably end up going as far down to Junior F that rate in Cork - Lots of clubs for 12 at a grade.

You could also argue how in the name of God does a Footballing County like Kerry only have 8 Senior teams, thus creating the very clear imbalance down as far as Junior.

It's a good proposal and would make our Club teams in football a lot more competitive in the Munster Championships. Our hurling teams seem to be doing well as it is however.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,733 ✭✭✭thesultan

There was no major backlash. The intermediate and junior teams were expected the win.. Sars massive bonus..

Great interview with Patrick Horgan here on plans for the coming year with Cork etc

Saw him earlier in Cashmans, such a legend of the game. Really wished we got over the line last year for him in particular.

Happy new year to both Cork and non Cork readers of this thread. Hopefully this will be the year we end the twenty year all Ireland famine in the hurling. It's hard to be optimistic about the footballers though with all the departures from the panel, but we live in hope i guess!

The Cork Senior Hurling team to play Waterford in the Friend’s of Brian Greene Fundraiser in conjunction with Waterford Hospice on Saturday 4th January at Fraher Field, Dungarvan  5pm has been announced.

    Untitled Image

Good to see a strong panel for a fundraiser. Jack Cahalane is committing to the hurlers this year so footballs loss is hurlings gain! Interesting to see how Cunningham and Power do as they were hampered by injuries last year.

Great cause and link to the fundraiser here also

Having watched some of 2024 hurling games over the Xmas.. it became very clear Cork management will need to address the left side of their defence... replacements are needed for o'donoghue & Coleman...
