Some finish to that. WGH the better team but wasted a lot of chances.

Shane Molony hauled T-AD back into it on his own. Great entertainment in that 2nd half.

    Kilmurry going to penalties

My God but they were some truly awful penalties.

Some woeful penalty taking there. They looked like they never took one before

He addressed this in a recent interview. He isn't going anywhere thankfully!

“That was actually a false rumour that was spread by one of the lads,” he laughs.

“I won't be going travelling at all this year. In fairness to Pat [Ryan, Cork manager], he's been letting us off for the last few weeks so that we can focus on the club. I'm sure I'll speak to him after the match on Sunday as regards to a plan.

“But that's not in either of our thoughts at the moment. I'm just focusing on the game on Sunday.”

A mischievous input from O’Connor’s new Cork captain, Robert Downey, led to the rumour growing.
“Yeah, one of the work lads put up a story saying it and it just caught fire,” O’Connor said, “I think Rob reposted it on his story and it just caught fire.

“There were people asking my parents and stuff down in the shop, am I going away and stuff. But no, I’m not going anywhere.”
One place where he wouldn’t mind going is up the steps of the Hogan Stand "

11-time All-Ireland winning Cork football great Bríd Stack will feature in the new series of Laochra Gael that starts on TG4 on January 23rd.Ben and Jerry O'Connor will be on it also.

    Sars in big trouble.

Woeful shooting, physically second best. No way back in the second half I'm afraid

An awful first half. Not doing theselves any favours with some of those wides. Too many haven't started to hurl. Na Fianna given the freedom of Corker is not a good tactic.

Don’t look at the races at all. 12 points down and could have been worse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,741 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Awful first half from Sars. Losing everywhere on the pitch.

Sars have missed chances to keep the score closer. Really bad wides

Sars have had some really bad wides non stop. Not going to win anything with so many. Lot of them were free shots

Sars were poor, capable of a lot better. Occasion got to a few of them and going 8 down after 15 they did well to only lose by what they did. They will learn a lot from today.

    Men against Boys

Cork hurling has bit to do yet if club sides want be at decent consistent level.

    Fair play to Na Fianna.

Some of Sars decisions in the first half when it was still a contest were ridiculous. Taking hail Mary potshots from way out instead of trying to work a score

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,306 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

Commiseration's and hard luck to Sars. I would have loved to see them do it for Teddy. Sadly our barren run in this competition goes on. There was once a time when Cork teams would win this nearly every year! Oh well it is what it is congrats to Na Fianna, and Sars will be all the better for the experience gained today.

The Cork footballers have a load of injuries or absentees for this year

    Conor Corbett (ACL)

    Steven Sherlock (opting out)

    Damien Gore (opting out)

    Fionn Herlihy (opting out)

    Jack Cahalane (gone hurling)

    Luke Fahy (hamstring),

    Seán Meehan (hamstring)

    Kevin O'Donovan (ankle)

    Kevin Flahive (gone travelling)

All above to miss the whole league.

Tom Clancy, Killian O'Hanlon, and John O'Rourke have all retired.

Ian Maguire (quad) and David Buckley (hamstring) will miss opening rounds.

    John Cleary said..

“Luckily enough we had a development squad in place last year and we had guys there that we had told, here’s the programme and you will get a chance," Cleary says.

“We had things mapped out and one of them was that they would get gametime in the McGrath Cup. Unfortunately, that went, but the players were there and we cast the net fairly wide and had a good look at the county championship.

“We have 43 or 44 on our panel at the moment. We will be whittling that down, but for the guys that are gone, we were sorry to see them leave. There are other guys who want to step up to the mark and I am sure they will do that.

“Seán McDonnell, Seán Walsh, Éanna O’Hanlon, Seán Brady, Éanna Desmond and David Buckley from Douglas, those kinds of players have been in the squad and training with the team.”

never ends for the footballers. every team has injuries but our run over the last decade is off the scale

Cork beat Donegal in the championship last summer and many are now tipping Donegal to win the All Ireland

    John Cleary also said this.
We still have 14 of the 15 that beat Donegal available, we still have 20 of the 26 that togged out that day. It is not that the guts were torn completely out of the squad.”

Should be enough to beat Wexford handy enough.

I think we need to have a right cut at winning the league. It hasn't done Limerick, Clare or Kilkenny under Cody any harm at all. Twenty seven years since we last won a league title as well, and we all know what happened a year afterwards!

A win today for the Cork Ladies Footballers

    Nat League Div2

    Cork 3-12 Westmeath 0-5

I was watching Kerry ladies on TG4 and they looked to be winning comfortably but gave up 3 goals to lose to Armagh. Just saying as I thought it was very strange to see it!

Fair play to the footballers. I didn't think they had that scoring in them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,306 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

As expected a comfortable enough win for the hurlers. Huge win for the footballers that was. There's a great chance of getting promoted to division one now if we build on it. We notched up a decent enough scoring total as well considering we were without Brian Hurley.

Cork gaa clubs to face levies

Of course, previously they said definitely not but we are not meant to remember it

In other news, the Cork v Limerick hurling league game wont be on tv or streamed either. Seems a crazy decision
