fair play to Rob Downey… after the 2021 all ire final when he looked like he was a very very bad Junior B fullback.. i thought that would be the end of him in a Cork jersey.. but fair play to him he has bounced back in style

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,741 ✭✭✭The White Feather

I wouldn't say I thought Rob Downey was that bad but I wasn't hugely impressed when I saw him originally either. But he really has made a leap forward as well as his brother.

It shows some players develop at different rates!

The Cork footballers will be without 4 players this season.

Killian O'Hanlon and John O'Rourke have both retired. Stephen Sherlock and Damien Gore are both taking a year off from the inter county scene.

It’ll be far more than 4. I think around 7 players are gone in total.

Haven only a point down at ht v Crokes but concerd a penalty at the start of the second half.

Kilshannig are flying, 7 up at ht v Rathkeale.

Kilmurry had a fine away win yesterday by 3 points.

Red card for Haven when 5 pooints down, Crokes should pull away now.

Kilshannig 7 up with 5 left to play.

Well I can safely say and this is to you only that you know SFA about football. You are the poster that attacked me when I said that Crokes would beat Castlehaven by a bit to spare. It was set up for them. And I'm right it's rare Cork teams beat Kerry teams in any grade. So go away with yourself now and quit calling me negative and go and get a reality check with Cork GAA.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,937 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

You were attacked were you? You seem a little bit precious if you believe that in fairness.

Even if Haven won today, I'm sure you would have had a reason for it.

Kilshannig won well and play Austin Stacks in 2 weeks - sure they might aswell not turn up I suppose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,883 ✭✭✭Seadin

Yes I was attacked on here personally by you on here because you didn't like what I was saying about Cork teams never beating Kerry teams across all grades.

Yes Stacks will beat Killshannig comfortably by about 8+ points. What do you expect? Kerry's second tier against Corks third tier or you living in cuckoo land again?

I won't reply to you anymore as I am afraid you might be feel like you are being attacked again.

Castlehaven were every bit as good as Crokes but luck was against them. They were unlucky with the attack that yielded the penalty. CH threatened the Crokes goal seriously 2/3 times more in the second half even when they were a man down. Once with the goal open the CH forward blazed wide with a ground shot.

Also the CH goalie in first half didn't get one kick out to his man, and through most of second half. This was in complete contrast with county final.

Yeah, I fully expected them to give them a good game. They've proven themselves to be a hard team to beat but as you say, luck wasn't on their side and in close games, that can make all the difference.

It was a real sucker punch for Castlehaven to loose Rory maguire the day before the game. Damien Cahalane nowhere near fit. Conor Cahalane was physically fit but you could see he wasn't 100%.

Seadin, you definitely must support a rival team to be so vehemently against them. I'm from a west cork junior club, and I'd support any cork club in the munster championship rather than be jealous

I think there is 1 or 2 more year in this Haven team before it breaks up.

Challenge game v Waterford on January 4th to raise funds for former hurler Brian Greene. with no preseason games it might be worth the journey and for a good cause too.

not being picky but kilmurry only had to travel to cloughduv to play micheal cusacks , and to be fair they were slightly lucky but the better team over all , they will have to improve drastically to beat firies in kerry

well done to watergrasshill today in the munster club , wolfe tones from shannon had more intercounty players on the clare team this year then the two finalists feakle and sixmilebridge in the senior club this year , to beat a team like that by 7 points is a fine win

Feakle went 0-05 v 0-01 up in the early stages but Sars settled well and are up at ht 0-11 v 1-12

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,937 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    From 1-17 a piece, Sars drove on for a fine win, 1-25 v 1-17

While Ballygunner will be odds on favourites in the final, I fully expect Sars to give them a good game, something they certainly didn't do last year.

AIB Munster Club Junior Football Championship Semi Final Result

Kilmurry (Cork) 4:23 (35) Cashel King Cormacs (Tipperary) 1:2 (5)

They will be playing Firies of Kerry in the final.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,937 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Kilmurry are a good team but that's a joke result for a Minster semi final in football

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,009 ✭✭✭newhouse87

Cashel haven't played many if any of their first 15 im told, none of the hurlers have played since county semi stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,883 ✭✭✭Seadin

We will see how good they are when they play Firies. Maybe you should reserve your judgement until then

Not really as Firies playing 3rd grade football in kerry to kilmurry playing 5th grade in cork so in reality Firies are 2 grades higher and if they were playing in cork championship they would be premier intermediate…
